  1. One thing I notice anymore is how much them freaking things stink. And how the odor permeates the person who was doing the puffing. There are a few smokers at work. I can smell it the minute I walk in the warehouse if one of them has lit up recently. And it does not make me want one. Looking at their ashtray does not make them appealing either. The only time I want one is if I am drinking. So I avoid that for the most part too. I am glad the have banned smoking indoors pretty much anyplace you can go now. Now if they could only keep them away from the doorways.
  2. Jane Myron sounds like a total tool. Give her the gun until you leave, oil and vinegar, policing who is drinking, no need for a gun in a park or a restaurant. She is pretty much clueless. It would be fun to have her face to face to confront her over her idiotic ideas
  3. great pictures. It was like doing it all over again only without the noise.
  4. I am not so sure a 2x4 would help here. It does come in handy holding up the Frankentruck's hood though. I broke my dental tool on it. I was able to catch an edge but is snapped the tool. I suppose waiting on the extractor will be best for now. If that does not work I will call you in with your bag of tools. Worst comes to wrost you can use the rifle to prop the hood.
  5. I wondered whose rifle that was. I guess i was distracted with my misfortunes but I did see it sitting in an open rifle case. It is a very handsome rifle! What year was it made and which armory did it come from?
  6. Okay, I give up. Broken shell extractor ordered. Dang shipping doubles the cost.
  7. it really is hard to believe that a casing as thin and in as poor shape as this was can be this stuck in the chamber. I can't even imagine what it holding it in place.
  8. it is near fubared I think, doubtful that it is coming out tonight
  9. working on it. Hard to believe that one piece came out from just swishing the cleaning rod around in the chamber. Follow the drama here, LOL http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/curio-relics-black-powder/21304-all-mosin-hype-6.html starts at about post 56
  10. actually that is the next futile attempt. I currently am trying to get a lip going on the broken edge by using a piece of metal coathanger. Some success but I think it is not the answer. Breaking the dental tool did not seem to work well either. PS. I have some industrial penetrant, it worked well on rusted parts on the quad once. I am going to try that now.
  11. the pistol was fine, but not so much the dud round in the pipe. And FWIW I really like the Frankentruck. Only thing missing is neckbolts.

    SW9VE Price?

    $350 easily.
  13. this is not going to be easy
  14. I think the fully is mostly fixed. there was an unbelievable amount of gooo in the pieces of the gun. I guess I need to de grease it periodically. Now for the Mosin
  15. thanks Daniel, I am fixing to start messing with it as soon as I finish cleaning the full auto 1911.
  16. classic stuff Daniel. I stopped reading when it mentioned molten lead. I am thinking I do not need to be messing with molten lead. I am also thinking a long thin screwdriver blade might be of use. or the tip of a long awl. Something to catch the edge of the broken piece. I managed to get a piece of it out at the range just scraping the cleaning rod around a bit in the chamber.
  17. i thought the same thing. I would simply ignore it.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
  18. that thing ain't gonna work. well maybe it would but I don't have one. aside from that I don't think it could grab what remains of this casing that is in the chamber. I have not messed with it yet. Still easing into gun cleaning. You spinner survived. No holes or dents. Just needs a new custom paint job.
  19. What a great turnout we had today. Everybody really did a good job of representing the Eastern Band of TGOers. Breakfast at the Shoney's was delicious. We took up a substantial portion of one seating area. I thought the food was outstanding. Not quite sure about chicken nuggets on the breakfast buffet, but they tasted good just the same. Looked like a parade or a funeral procession on the trip from Shoney's to BigJ's place. I think I counted 13 vehicles in a line. Well 13 if you count the Datsun that Dotson was driving. I wonder if it used more water or gasoline though? Lots of shooting entertainment at BigJ's. It was virtually non stop shooting for an hour solid when we started. I had the honor of the first clip to start the day. Rang the steel plate at 200 yards. It was nice meeting everyone. I will not mention many names as I don't want to slight anyone. But it was a real pleasure shooting with all of you. A finer bunch of people could not have been assembled anywhere. I guess without a doubt the .50 caliber rifle was the star of the show. One thing I will mention, BlackbeltChick and Motasyco really seemed to hit it off. I think we may have a TGO romance in the works. Woot! Can't wait to do it again next month.
  20. You mean there has been all this fuss over a bill that does not allow us to get drunk and wave our guns arounds?
  21. I can add to the Mosin hype. I shot the 91/30 today. Was banging a plate target at 200 yards. Probably got 20 rounds through it when a casing split apart. that casing, or the remnant of it is stuck in the chamber. Not sure how I am going to get it out. But at least I know what I can do tonight. That and throw out the remains of that particular ammo. Have had lots of trouble with it over the 440 rounds I had bought a couple years ago. The only real disappointment was I had planned on putting over 100 rounds through it today and did not get to do that. That split casing is stuck like it is welded in place. Maybe now that the rifle has cooled it will come out.
  22. Right, thats what my miss use of the english language was trying to say. Even without this parks bill signed today, come next February we would be able to carry in a national park. i am still apprehensive about the long gun thing.
  23. I was under the impression that state law about parks had no bearing on carry in a national park, In other words if I can carry while walking down the street in Gatlinburg, I could carry in the GSMNP. Did not matter if I could carry in a state park or not and that this does not take effect until sometime in February 2010 And I believe the long gun thing is July 1, not right now tonight.
  24. I thought it was an evening affair. but you all can do what you want, it is not dependent on me I don't think. Besides I do not drink during the day.
  25. the deal from ammotogo worked out to be 106 bucks delivered. The Czech stuff Garufa posted is a pretty fair deal. Post up what you find out there.
