notifying businesses back when HCP became legal?
Mike.357 replied to Mike.357's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I am kind of disappointed there is no one who has had a permit since way back in the day here who can share what the political climate was like back then. oh well PS thanks Fallguy, you latest post was inciteful. -
yes very very remote, more than likely one of us will win the lottery before needing a rifle in the car. I hope I win the lottery, and really hope I never need a gun, period.

Oh believe me there was sellers remorse involved. Why do you think i snatched up another Mosin so fast? I am happy you are liking it though. I feel better knowing it went to a nice home.

It really intrigues me. There had to be talk that blood would run in the street, shootouts at Walmart over shoppping carts etc... The same basic crappola they are trying to stir up over this bar carry thing. that "announce" thing is interesting too. I wonder how a business announced it? -
plain and simple I will not lose sleep over a gun I own that was not made 100% in the USA. Buying it from an Amurican is good enough for me. Punisher, post #31 was humorous and spot on dude.

curses, foiled again. ( i think i get the joke too, lol) I just don't want to have this rifle, a buttload of ammo, and the rifle being useless. Actually the thing seems to be real accurate and the bore looks great. I think I migh tbe a good shooter if I can ever get the casing out of the chamber. i don't even have a bayonet for it yet to use it as a harpoon or javelin.

July 14, 2009 *KNOXVILLE AREA* Restaurant Meet Thread
Mike.357 replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
if you guys really want to do hooters on that night I will show up. But I am not a big fan of large crowds. Bike night at hooters does not sound like fun to me. But I will do whatever you all decide. -
notifying businesses back when HCP became legal?

While I am still very new to handgun carry, (only have had the permit 2 years) I look all the time to see if a place is posted. I really do not think I have ever seen a place posted, aside from a package store or two that had an out of date law still posted. I always look hard for signage. I was just curious if people went out of their way (when HCP was initiated ) to ask owners and employees if their business was going to post. Frankly the entire business of asking about postings reminds me of Voldemort. -
I have read a couple of threads where there is a difference opinion about going and asking restaurants/bars if they are going to post about banning guns. I am curious. When HCP's first were legalized in TN did people go around asking businesses in general if they were going to post signs banning guns? And if not, then why would we go and ask restaurants/bars if they were planning to post up? I was not here then so I wonder. I am not sure I have ever seen a legal posting anywhere.

"Has there ever been" encompasses an awful long time. Certainly there has been need. Can't name one off the tip of my head though.

welcome to TGO. There are plenty of Elk down near Cades Cove to shoot at. Don't pay attention to SUNTZU, he is kind of weird. Just kidding about the Cades Cove thing, but not about SUNTZU

BFE, too funny. BK hits it on the head. Thats why you may want one in the car. I posted to use your handgun to fight your way back to the car cause I read that somewhere on the internet before.

Next time you are around my house I am going to get you to show me how to do this on my pc.

The whole thing is driving me nuts. Not like I need to it shoot right now, but it is the point. What if TEOTWAWKI happens before Wednesday afternoon? This is very upsetting.

I like the idea. I have a organizer on the wall next to the safe. It is just your everyday hanger thingy. It has about 5 places to hang items. i use it to hang a couple of holsters, some belts and a shirt or two if need be. Using a gun like deal would look pretty cool. Maybe a Garand silhouette

PS: did the gunsmith say what oil of wintergreen would specifically do? wish I had seen your Brownells link earlier, I would have got one for 30-06 too.
-
Yes. I am quite familiar with all the technical expressions involved with stuck and fubared equipment. Sometimes the right profane phrase will work wonders.

thanks for that bit of info Daniel. I have been giving thought to applying heat in the removal. I also seriously thought about putting the rifle in the freezer, then applying heat directly to the outer portion of the chamber where the broken casing is stuck. I am still thinking this may be an option. You know the old theories about expansion and contraction. Anyway it worked on a screw lid stuck on the sugar jar. The shell extractor will come on Wednesday, so I will know whats up Wednesday night. Oil and heat, hmmmmm..... OS mentioned that this must be a fairly regular occurance in a Mosin and and SKS as they both have extractors being sold specifically for those rifles. I am sure mine was stuck from old rusty ammo that came apart. I have had some of these casings split in the past. I only had 40 rounds of this stuff left. I went through it Saturday night and pulled about half of the cartridges out and have them soaking in a bucket of water. They looked awful. Just covered in corrosion and rust. No doubt about the bayonet.

Handgun is to be able to fight your way to the vehicle to retrieve the long gun. BK says Exactly! LOL

I think the economy is pretty much global anymore. I am not sure how much I would be hurting the US if I bought a pistol made in Croatia or from a company headquartered in Belgium. Oh wait, that Croatian company is also in the US. So why does it matter where it was manufactured again? I own pistols made in Italy, distributed in the US and sold by companies in the US. So the guns are purchased in the US, from an American or a American business. Which in turn bought the gun from a distributor who employs Americans more than likely. Can't say I would even really give it much thought.
-
I would venture a guess that unlike a NRA or Ruger sticker in the window, having a rifle in plain view will get your vehicle broken into. Aside from that, I think a SKS would be about perfect as a vehicle gun.

sorry, David. I did not look real close. While you were deleting it I was editing it off of the post. Anyway if anyone has to see it I am sure you can google it and come up with the same link
