  1. I do not think the businessman can make a case for distress in this instance. My understanding of distress and flying a flag upside down would be similar to pulling a weapon. In the case of pulling the pistol you are in imminent danger, in case of the flag, imminent distress. Obviously his distress is not imminent as this has been going on for weeks. Flying the flag under distress was meant as a way to draw attention over matters happening right now, life and death, not money.
  2. fwiw i saved the piece. If I have problems I can always re fit it. I think I got good advice from a couple of trusted gear heads here. Will give it a good testing tomorrow. All I know for sure is it will not end up on Dotson's monsterasity.
  3. we might ought to have the next best thing to a 1903 tomorrow
  4. what can I say, just doing my part. And fwiw I placed my order before posting. PS: love this multi quote thing
  5. you definitely have my curiosity aroused. I am not sure why you have SUNTZU's photo in the post though.
  6. wasn't a law recently changed to prevent record keeping of this? I do not even own the pistol i passed the class with now.
  7. if this was taking place in Knoxville I would be in attendance in my work clothes. there is no shame in dressing like an honest man taking time from a busy day earning a living. Wish I could go but Davidson is too far. I wholeheartedly agree in being respectful. Heres hoping the "right" decision is rendered.
  8. thanks Doc, make that four concurring opinions. five if mine counts. Dave, it is a Ford part, Putting a piece of quality material on that thing you loosely refer to as a truck is an insult.
  9. Garufa, I tried to call you. No matter really. I was looking for the thickness of the plate. I took a piece of 2x4 and cut some slots to support it. Hopefully I cut them correct enough to be of use. I love when a plan comes together. No plan here though, just some guesswork. if not we can shoot a hole or two in it and use the rebar again
  10. Ammuntion to go has Brown Bear for sale. .22 cents a round ALL GONE
  11. No Dave, don't come. We need someone to talk trash about. Can't hardly do it if you are there. Not that it matters, there is always Strickj and TheRabbi to talk bad about anyway.
  12. Prvi Partezan sells a 150 grain 30-06 that works well in Garands near as I can tell. Felt recoil is definitely lower than M2 ball ammo. The round also looks identical but to be safe I will stick to shooting them out of Garufas Garand.
  13. Dave, just stick your feet out the bottom and stop it Fred Flinstone style. Brakes are really over rated. Plenty of trees around here to use as stops. change the brakes Sunday, it is supposed to rain then.
  14. The doohickies are still in place. The rubber sheet just pulls loose. Strick it is not a strip but a piece maybe 18 inches wide by a foot or so long. We know about 12 inchers, right?? i have three concurring opinions. I am going out now to remove it. Thanks for the advice dudes.
  15. hello Mary, I am Nancy. Nice to meet you!
  16. them plastic push things hold it in place now. Dunno what they are called. Kind of look like bolts but they are plastic and you shove them into place. There are three places they attach along a length maybe 18 inches long. The center one is definitely fubared, the other two are insuffucient.
  17. i have a 99 F150, 166k + on it. There is a piece of rubber, kind of like a sheet or a drape. The "drape" runs from under the backside of the radiator up towards the bottom of the front bumper. ( i know this explanation sucks) I believe its purpose is to force air that flows though the opening in the bottom of the bumper up into the radiator. At any rate it no longer stays in place, it pulls free of the bumper and ends up flapping under the truck or finds it way over the tie rod. Obviously at this point it no longer directs air at the radiator. I am having no overheating problems. I do not know how long this has been going on. Is this thing neccesary? I either need to rig it to stay in place or remove it altogether before it rips off and goes somewhere it shouldn't. I have re-connected it once, it did not stay put. Anyone have any constructive advice?
  18. I want to see the crappiest looking Mosin Nagant anyone owns. Mine is downright ugly. Scratched and gouged stock, cracks. I have on crack in the oven mitt end of the stock that I am hopeful is growing. Gonna watch it close tomorrow. Other than that mine looks like it was run over by a Kraut halftrack, or dropped by a Ruskie as he got shot by his own officers. Next gun show I want to find one that makes this look like a show piece.
  19. I hope you can make it BD, it ought to be fun, as usual. I have no idea who you are referring to OS I will bring the bipod too. Now if we only knew someone with a steel plate
  20. changed the oil in my truck, put the battery back in the big quad, fixing to pull the battery from the little quad to trickle charge it. God I hope that works, I ain't paying 80 bucks for a battery for that thing. Pull starting it might be the way to go. And the dang Coor's Lights are tasting purty good
  21. tattoos ought to have some deep and personal meaning to the wearer. Never heard the term trinket tattoos before, so at least I learned something here today. ass antlers is a new one too. There is always the old standby of a "tramp stamp". I have a funny story about tramp stamps, it would not play well in written word though.
  22. I have heard rumors that there are a couple of girly men using some rubber butt pads on their rifles. They are a couple of Nancy's if you ask me. I can't even imagine.

i think you ought to just figure a way to scope the Garand. It meets all the needs aside from being a little heavy

Just keep it in close so I can see it to shoot at it

I guess I should add a positive post, just not be critical. I like the idea of a SKS being converted for this purpose. I also think having steel sights would be imperative for when the glass breaks.
