  1. I think i will turn off the breaker and unplug the thing to be double safe in addition to locking the doors and making the wife stand guard near the breaker box. Of course she will be handcuffed to the pole and be just a hairs reach short of touching the thing herself, but should still be able to fend off anyone who goes near the breaker box. You know on the odd chance that someone other than a Mormon wanders down my driveway to check my breakers. Seriously I do appreciate all the advice and safety warnings. I am not afraid of dying but I was hoping to fend that off for a few more years anyway. And why is that whenver the oven breaks I get a craving for a frozen pizza?
  2. I have been to Sevier several times. I only go there when there is NO other option. You want to know the most unsafe thing I ever saw happen there? I will tell you anyway. A RSO, after checking to see that all guns were cleared, and people were allowed downrange physically, attempted and succeeded in wrestling a rifle away from a guy who was trying to pack up and leave. Now keep in mind this same RSO had just verified that the rifle was clear. So I surmised that one can only pack up and leave when the line is hot and rifles are possibly loaded. So smart guy you tell me which way is safer. How about the RSO that got on the PA and verbally tore into a guy who was simply picking up his brass under his bench so he could leave. This happened during a cease fire where that mans rifle was also verifed as clear. How about the numerous times I have seen shooters treated rudely? Guys doing nothing unsafe but some RSO getting his jollies acting like the boss. How about OS being scolded for talking while shooting was going on? If one cannot handle weapons ( after they are verified clear during cease fires) how is someone supposed to communicate with another shooter in regard to technique or assist in a sight adjustment? How about the RSO who heckled me for bringing 4 rifles to the range, making the smirking comment about "do I need to bring every gun I own". Is there a limit on how many rifles one can bring? Or the time I was corrected for having the muzzle of a revolver pointed up, keep in mind the cylinder was hanging open so as to eject cartridges. I guess the gun will go bang in that fashion too. To me it is not so much being corrected for whatever offense an RSO dreams up, but the condescending tone used every time. Some of you guys act human, seem like nice people who know about firearms. But more often than not the RSO's there act like overbearing jerks with a Napolean complex. Yeah I have a few posts here too.
  3. Yanno, the thought of chinese never crossed my mind when it happened, I am disappointed now that I did nto think of that and suggest it. And thats after watching Christmas Story off and on all day yesterday, LOL. I might could have done that. I will just turn it on and wait to feel some heat come off of it without touching. Its a free standing unit. Should be able to pull it away from the wall if need be. This place really is a wealth of information
  4. I never pictured Strick having such long hair. It is pretty though
  5. What a coincidence Doc. the only thing heating on our element was a section about an inch long and it was so bright I was afraid I burned my retina looking at it briefly. The rest of the element was not even glowing at all. There is a long crack in the thing now. Never seen this before. We did have a element break in the condo we were renting in Fla. IIRC the landlord replaced the stove.

    Firearm Sales

All I would say about the Mickey Mouse 4473 is that of you are going to expect a buyer to use it have the common courtesy of discussing that request before hand. Don't wait until you are in a parking lot and springit on someone.

    Rum....yumm

^^^ Actually my wife made a rum cake for me yesterday. I am gonna go an have a piece. She is famous for her rum cakes but I don't think she followed the instructions you provided, LOL
  8. ^^^^ too late
  9. i thought about the unplugging, might still opt for that. Not sure how stuck the stove is to the floor ,LOL. Might be easier to flip the breaker and test an oven burner to make sure it is not under any power. Have the magnetic nut driver but thanks for the reminder on it. I think she so easily settled for the new element over a new appliance since the cost of an oven would have used up my bonus and the cash from my last day of vacation that I cashed in instead of using. That and the fact that Santa treated her pretty well this morning got me the okay for a 30 dollar part.
  10. if I had done that Ron she would have been thrilled. Now I would not have done a vaccum cleaner. A new stove would have been okay. she has been wanting a new stove.
  11. Hi Point 9c someone probably got a gun for xmas.
  12. I had thought about hemostats before I even disconnect the wire. Clamp it with it as soon as it is exposed. I have a few pairs of them so I can easily lock onto each side. I am familiar with techincal terms that get used when wires go on the stray. When it comes to cooking I stay out of her way. If she tells me to use the grill I use the grill. It comes down to our rules about who is boss in what part of the house. I do not tread in her kitchen when she is working her magic, LOL It did cook up very nicely in the grill. I will throw that idea at her for the next time. I bet she likes it. The oven is never big enough for holiday meals. Not sure how she pulls it off every year.
  13. I took the roasting pan sitting on a cookie sheet and put the whole thing in the grill. Had to remove the two upper racks first of course. But it worked great. The bird turned out really good and juicy.
  14. I found the exact piece I need from a place called repairclinic.com Delivered for 35.02. Should be here Wednesday. So I have day or two to figure out how to do it. It looks like there are hex headed screws holding the thing in place on each side. As long as I do not electricute myself I ought to be back in business. Thanks for the help willis, you had me going in the right direction and I found just what I needed once I had the model number. Thanks everyone for all the advice.
  15. thanks willis. after I posted I thought to myself, " ggez you dummy just google White Westinghouse oven element and google how to replace oven heating elements. Found a bunch of info. Now I just need to narrow down which one I need. I might be able to buy a gun after all, LOL
  16. I ran that new element idea by her. And I got a suprising answer. She said that would be fine, no moaning, I did not get the "look". So someone help me out here. Where do I buy one locally or online and how do I go about changing it? I looked at where it attaches to the back of the oven and there are not screws hoding it in place. Kind of like rivets maybe, not sure.
  17. oooh, I gotta look into that. I think though she has her heart set on a new one. This thing is old and she hates the stove top on it. I am going to slide that idea across the tabel and see what reaction i get.
  18. well sort of, I guess it depends on the definiton of catastrophe. The boss stuck the turkey in the oven, it was pre heated good to go. She checked it about 45 minutes later and the oven had died. I can see a crack in the element that is about three inches long. There was a spot near that on the element glowing like a welding rod. So I saved the bird anyway. Pulled the upper two racks out of the gas grill, heated it up and finished cooking it. Looks pretty good actually and smells great. She ran over to her moms to bake the macaroni and cheese, while I did my end. Everything is good to go I think. She just ran back to grannies to pick up the macaroni and I guess we will be eating soon. Time to carve the bird almost. Everything else she did on the stove top or microwave. What sucks though is everytime I have a little cash set aside, almost feel like I am half a step ahead something like this happens. Must be life, I dunno. Going tomorrrow to see about buying a new stove. Heck if I knew the thing was going to die I would have bought one and called it her xmas present. Now I have to buy one anyway and I alread bought her a xmas present. The short end of the stick always seems to point at me. I am not a miser, ( well not too much ) the oven was here when we bought the house 6 years ago. The thing was old then. I guess I am out of excuses to not buy a new one.
  19. one advantage to the SKS is being able to fire from the prone position more easily. I believe the mag on an AK gets in the way of that. not really sure I like the Yugo better than AK's though so I am prejudiced going into it
  20. lump of coal, and the finger too.
