  1. I have used and will bring my coffee can stove. I stick a can of sterno in it and works pretty well. My mess kit makes a fair skillet and has a small pot that fits inside of it. Both work well on the coffee can stove.
  2. the only thing I ever had against Gator's was the width. They just seemed too wide for trail riding. They are fun to play in though. Is it open air or a Pope Mobile model?
  3. I couldn't say that about football. You UK people only talk up basketball because you have always stunk at football
  4. I got a beautiful Remington Pump shotty from a Pawn shop once, paid a fair price too. Bought a gawd aweful looking Steven's .22 from the same pawn shop a few years later but the price was a show stopper. Put a little time and love into it and it looks great now and is a real shooter too. Sometimes the prom queen is wearing a burlap sack. You just gotta clean her up a bit before you put her on your arm.
  5. so you were the lucky buyer of Jeff's AK? It is a beauty. Real nice looking and if he had it you know it was a good rifle. If not he would have said so. You did good. I need a few more weeks before commiting to another firearm. So far I can say I lost a Beretta 9mm and this AK while I wait.
  6. I would have loved to have a few beers in a cooler and a comfortable chair to watch from. I could have offered suggestions, helpful or humorous to you in your quest to open it.
  7. Blake that is a good of a testimonial as I have ever read. Suprised you did not try a torch
  8. three generations of Zippo's. First one was my grandpa's. It say Verg on this side and his entire name Verg Jump on the other side. The thing is a buddy of his from work engraved it and spelled his name wrong. His name was Virgil Jump. The bare thing on it is from where there was some sort of Gov't employee logo on it that fell off long before I ever got it. He was a meat inspector. The middle one belonged to my father, his name was Harold and he died in 1958 when I was six months old. The third one is the only one of mine I have never lost.
  9. basketball is not a real sport, it just kills time between football and baseball seasons.
  10. UT is not afraid to drop a dime, look how much they spend on guys they fire.
  11. so what coaches does TN deserve? UT is not a Oklahoma, Alabama, Notre Dame , Florida or even (gasp) USC. Why would Bob Stoops,Brian Kelly or Urban Meyer want to come here?
  12. as long as I can dig a hole, LOL if you know what I mean
  13. okay, just re-read things. One post says Dec 3 that's a Saturday, another post says Friday. Please clarrify. I can do either night, just don't wanna do both.
  14. Dooley came to a place that had an absolute bare closet. Injuries have made it all the worse. I think he has to be given two more years to see if he can turn things around. I really don't think any coach could have done any better with what he had when he got here. The biggest problem UT faces if and when they decide to hire another coach is that no proven coach looks at UT as their dream job. So pretty much anyone you bring in will do a Kiffen and bail out when their dream job comes calling. Probably best to root for Dooley and hope he turns it around.
  15. I think I am in for this Friday and Saturday. Unless my crabby ass self will scare anyone else off. Not sure about Saturday night. Not sure what knowledge I have in particular. But it might be a good way to see if the crap in my ruck is actually useful or well, just crap. Not sure if I wanna use a tent or just fabricate something out of the tarp or sheet of plastic in my pack. But if it is not gonna rain I am leaning to fabrication. I will add a sleeping bag and mat. I don't much figure I neeed practice on sleeping on cold hard ground, that will suck enough if and when it is unavoidable. I do suggest that all the people who said they were up for it over the course of this thread get PM'd about it as a reminder.
  16. could be worse, they could have won 6, gone to a bowl and really got their heads kicked in.
  17. not sure how you beat Walmart, even with tax added on. Considering you are going to have shipping costs from ordering off the interweb. I picked up 200 rounds today, 22.97 for 100 rounds of WWB, and 10.97 each for two 50 round boxes of Federal. 49.36 OTD, just under a quarter a round
  18. no offense but did not waste my time with it, they would only be preaching to the choir. And I do not expect any of those to who it is aimed to watch it either because they don't care anyway. Not that republicans care either.
  19. mine shot to the right too. I bent the front site post a hair and now it shoots to POA
  20. we have a don't ask, don't tell policy
  21. Thanks for the Century comments. It would be better to actually lay hands on a Century than buy one from the interwebz sight unseen. it seems the most common AK's I see at shows are underfolders. I much prefer a fixed stock.
  22. what is wrong with Century?
  23. edumucate me on what gets converted on a Saiga
  24. there are some Mosins worth in the neighborhood of 500 bucks. I would never consider buying one like that. The average run of the mill 91/30 are common and so cheap in price. If I was worried about harming collector value by drilling it I would spend another 90 bucks and buy a second one to keep original. They only made about a gazillion of them. Maybe someday they will become rare, but I doubt it will be in my lifetime or even in my grandsons lifetime.
  25. I have a .50 cal ammo box I keep loaded mags and loaded stripper clips in. For the guns that most often go to the range I keep those loaded mags in another .50 cal ammo can that always goes to the range with me. I try to keep one loaded mag with the gun they belong to. Holsters, ( I don't have many), gun rugs, basically anything soft sided are in an old ruck I have. And that sits in the ammo bunker with the rest of my gun stuff. This gun hobby can get out of control, worse than the wardens purses and shoes.
