really sorry I missed it, if for no other reason it is hard to top OS's bag 'o knives! I have camped out in sub freezing temps before and it is doable. Rather camp in cold than hot. BK it sounds like you need a better bag. 30 degrees is not that cold. In Mac's bag he would have cooked like a pork roast without opening up the van some. On the bright side the Pack 500 Pancake Breakfast was a resounding success. The pack made a fair amount of cash that will fund the boys for a decent amount of time, maybe until the school year is out. lets do it again, ( the survival campout not the pancakes)

Guess I lost my candidate, no clue who to support now. The ones I have seen to date do not impress me much. they are definitely just more of the same old same old. Cain was a breath of fresh air.

near as I can tell you just said two different things. In one post you say the outsiders are the problem ,then in the next you say they came here to make their fortunes. It doesn't matter really. "They" are here now and are very much part of the fabric of the community. fwiw near as I can tell Bumgartner is of scottish origin. I agree I have no authority to police this place, but when I read something that rubs me wrong I post about it. maybe I am hyper sensitive about it, but the "you ain't from 'round here are ya" mind set grates on me. I was just very suprised to read it from you after having read lots of your previous posts. Merry Christmas

I think you knew the answer before you posed the question, LOL -

Leroy I am kind of dumfounded at your post. Awful broad brush you seem to be painting with. Most of it I can let go, but some of it really sticks out. What kind of name is a east Tennessee name? and what of these dang outsiders? Ooff, kind of odd seeing that as this country was not inhabited by your kind ( I assume you are are the original whitey to this area) and used manifest destiny to run off the indigenous peoples. This is a college town. I may be wrong but I would dare say that over the years many students from UT made Knoxville their home upon graduation. And I will go out on a limb and say that I bet many of them make great contributions to Knoxville and the surrounding area. I will go way out on that limb and wonder if many others have moved here over the years to be around the mountains and an area that is slightly less urban than where they may have originally lived. And I am not sure, not at all, but I bet a huge portion of those people are gainfully employed, maybe even employers themselves. They own homes, pay taxes and are productive citizens of the area. Meh, I am probably way off here.

If the judge was not high and worried about his opiates the four killers might have all got in line for the needle instead of just one.

Glad to see you all are surviving. Wish I could have been there.

The Cincinnati Enquirer and Cincinnati.com will require Facebook to log in for comments starting on Dec.5, 2011. I read it daily, sports page mostly. I am sure they will take a hit on page views. People who comment go back to the comments to see if anyone responded to what they said. Very much like how it works here. If I can't comment on a story there is no reason to go back to that story several times, therefore their page views will drop like a rock. Even though page views drop and I suppose advertisement income will drop, Gannett will glean user info from FB accounts as a way to recoup that money. I am sure in their business plan they believe they will come out ahead financially. Cracks me up that they do this change claiming it will make their comment section more civil. Stuff like this is never about manners, always about money. As for liberal bias in newsprint and their accompanying websites, people are creature of habit. I bought newspapers every morning for 30 years. I did not care about liberal or conservative bias, I bought them to have something to read in the morning and to keep up with news and sports. As well as the daily crossword. If you are a newspaper junky as I was it is a hard habit to break. I thank the worthless Knoxville News Sentinel for helping me kick the habit. High prices and crappy reporters, as well as getting it free on the internet got me off of newspapers. Of all the newspapers I ever read daily I really miss the Chicago Tribune. I don't care about their political views, they had a great sports section.

Udall, Webb Amendment Fails to Pass Senate
Mike.357 replied to daddyo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
the more pissed the general populace becomes the more worried the chosen ones become about how to remain in power. All this legislation does is broaden the reach of their foot on citizens necks. Exactly their intent. -
I just wish the witch hunting was done fairly and evenly. So far some are getting a free pass. But I believe that is only because those candidates not being torched are not seen as a threat to the Big O. If and when they become a threat the dirt will come out. Of course the mudslingers and media will not even cover any of Barry's shenanigans. I am sure he has plenty of bones in his closet.

I don't care if Cain did all of its. I would still vote for him. There is not one candidate out there that does not have baggage.

Teenager stopped by TSA for gun design on her purse.
Mike.357 replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in General Chat
They could have said she was a terrorist and locked her up indefinitely. -
Like the first comment after the story i agree it was the post office fault to begin with

I always thought my Grandpa reminded me of LBJ. They had the same haircut. No one will ever convince me that Reagan was a great president. He did act very presidential though which more than any of them since did very well. And that counts for something.

Why especially an officer?
-
Never heard of Cain but remember Reagan speaking from when you were 7 or 8 years old? Yanno Reagan was a professional actor? I could never tell when he was genuine or acting while in office.

Valid thought provoking ideas

I was winning the game until I lost, thanks Jack.

funny how whoever rises to the top of the polls gets blown up. While the Big O just keeps on skating. I am sure there is dirt not yet invented about Gingrich, and I can't wait until Romney is at the top of the heap, By then he will be the last option. Woohoo can't wait to see what they have on him. It ought to be good. I almost wonder if the Republican candidate will be someone who has not announced just yet. I like Cain, I don't care about any baggage whether it is true or not. I would not be suprised to find out old Honest Abe was dipping the wick. Of course there was not the scutiny that there is now. The general election is already cooked, guarentee a fix is in. Get ready for four more years.

I dunno how the Christians or Newsoms get past any of this, especially a second go round. I am amazed they are still together as families. There is no way I could continue to live around here if that happened to my kids. I don't know how one moves on from it, but I know I could not do it being here. I'd be somewhere else.

my edc is always chambered and holstered. When I take it off the holster goes with it, the gun does not come out of the holster to take it off my person. A couple of others are chambered for sure but locked up. for the sake of safety I assume every piece I own is chambered. An unloaded gun is about as useful as a rock.
