grease is grease for the most part. I use Polaris Marine grease because it is what I keep to grease the four wheelers. Works just fine. Regular red old timey axle grease works fine too.

Mom wants to limit firearm discharges in Knox Co.
Mike.357 replied to greenego's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
When we moved to this house and I decided I wanted to have a little range out in the woods I called the Sheriff's office. I asked about it. I was told the restrictions were to not shoot in the direction of dwellings or other buildings where people may be at. My dirt backstop sits at the bottom of a hill, so bullets are extremely unlikely to go anywhere they shouldn't. -

I will be the bad guy here. I can see her point. While I have woods and a decent backstop to shoot at housing is encroaching on me. I don't shoot near as much here as I used to. ( I have spoken to my nearest neighbors about it and they are both alright with me shooting a bit out in the woods ) I never shoot at night, only during hours of the day where noise should not be an issue. But within a couple of hundred yards there are houses that are on 1/8 acre lots and some of them people shoot in their yards. If I was one of their neighbors I'd be nervous about it. Of course I'd go talk to them, not go to the county commission and complain. I am willing to bet she has not talked to her neighbors other then yelling at them from her backyard while they are shooting. Maybe I am wrong. And I am not sure why but her hyphenated name gives her less credibility in my mind. LOL. I hear and see people shooting all the time. Gunfire is pretty regular here, I live north of Fountain City too. Heck she might live in the area I referenced. Edited to add, the people I have seen shooting in their yards are shooting in a safe direction, there are no buildings behind them and no people out there. -

never saw a grip like that on that bayonet before. Totally awesome! -
It was nice to meet you and your better half this afternoon. Sorry I could not spend as much time chatting as I'd have liked, but as you saw firsthand the place was total chaos. You got a couple of real nice bottles, and being a vodka guy you will love the Deep Eddy. And that 10 year old Rip is pretty good stuff too. I hope you come back by sometime! And I don't know what got into the boss this afternoon. About 5pm he busted out all the BTAC we have been holding. We sold it all tonight. Made a lot of people very happy. I did not know we even had it but there was a bottle of Eagle Rare 17 that I sold at about 8 pm tonight. We even put a bottle of Rip on the shelf just for kicks and giggles. It did not last 5 minutes, and the nice lady bought a George Stagg too. Added up to a nice sale. I think some of the best we had was Sazerac Rye and Thomas Handy Rye. When did rye whisky get so desirable? I was able to taste the Sazerac one of our guys bought, it was really nice, loaded with vanilla on the front end and a nice oaky finish. But I have to admit it does not stand up to Whistle Pig. I almost pulled the trigger on a Handy but opted to leave it for the customers. If I would of had a way to post it here I have given all of you a heads up about it. NO chance to use a computer. It was the busiest day of the year. Whenever any TGOer can stop by be sure to ask for me.

first gun I ever bought was because I thought guns were cool. I went to China Town, ( think walmart back in the 70's) bought a Model 60. I went with buddies and we drank beer, smoked weed and shot down a tree. It was great fun. No one did anything stupid, there were other .22 rifles and we felled a small tree. It really is a great memory. Later I got infatuated with a real gun. So I bought a revolver. A .44 Navy way back in the day through Gander Mountain. Mail order pistol. It was the coolest thing to shoot. Mailed a check, they sent me a pistol. How good does it get, the hand cannon. Since then I have found other reasons to have firearms. But basically it still boils down to gun are cool.

that is sweet! Good for you.

and this is why we should all accept closing the gunshow loophole, and not be able to trade guns or sell between ourselves.

Have Monkeyman post up a review of the 1843 stuff after he gives it a go. The Ezra too!

The Jap whisky is scotch. If you don't like scotch then avoid it. It can't be called scotch because it isn't from Scotland. Just so everyone knows. I find it kind of deceptive. People buy it because they think it is more Kentucky/Tennesee like in taste.

Christmas trees, holiday trees, and a CBS reporter's observation.

i am pretty sure there are more important things to be concerned with than merry christmas or happy holidays -

one thing I have noticed about Holiday vs. Christmas is people are pretty vocal with Merry Christmas now days. I hardly ever hear have a nice holiday or other generic names for it all. I get a kick out of it all.
