I was in Afghanistan in 2004 & 2005 and we had M1911s'. They are still in use and issued.

This earth is just 1 speck of sand on a huge beach.....and thinking of it that way probably makes us look huge. I've never seen anything, but I'm open minded. Someone mentioned the Great Pyramids.... then you have Easter Island, Nazca lines. Ancient astronomy...did they have help? Motives for constructing these things? What was the purpose? Alot of open questions. Stop Alien Abductions

Kind of on topic....and I try to live by it. "Always plan for the worst, when it doesn't happen you will be pleasantly surprised"

Hated the beret. We would wear our "red hats" instead. (Rigger). It was always amuseing to be somewhere where people did not know what a rigger was. I still wear my six color chocolate chip desert boonie from Desert Shield/Storm when I mow the yard.

34 years ago, and it comes back to haunt me...
EMB145 replied to a topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Pretty much the same thing happened to my father.... Late 60's he shot a guy in self defense. The guy pulled a gun on him... race riots, curfews, and life during that time frame. For his birthday, I was going to pay for a Taurus Judge for him as he wanted one. We go to the gun shop, he picks one out and does the paperwork and gets denied. Filled out the form questioning why he was denied and gets a letter in the mail later saying he is ok. (Thats' how we knew why he was denied). Don''t give up hope on getting cleared. Not to sound paranoid, but its kind of scary and an eye opener on how many and what records are out there on us. -
Just my father... as with everything else...insurance, investments, will, car titles, ect. Thank you for posting this as it has opened my eyes. I need to insure that if/when something happens, access is granted to the important things. In my passing, I want the comfort that things go as easily as possible for my loved ones. +1 on the safety deposit box.....I will be getting one.

Here is a good website for the Mosin Nagant. 7.62x54r.net I'm researching my M44 and trying to figure out the history on it now. I hope this helps.

Why does'nt the govt focus on the criminals? The only thing gun laws/bans ect regulate are those of us that follow the law. Sorry to thread drift, but if they are so worried about a semi auto rifle, I think the politicians that "serve the people" should rethink their battle position and focus on something that really does impact the American people, immigration for example. Pro gun/anti gun whatever...their are bigger fish to fry and again..if a law or ban is passed, the only ones it will effect are those of us that are honest.

I'm not sure if I should post this in the C&R section or here, but being a reloading question, I will put it here. I'm a big fan of history so I naturally aquire surplus military firearms. My most recent is a 7.62 Nagant revolver. I've read where people are useing .32-20 cases with the Lee die set and having sucess. My question is if anyone locally has tried this? I will purchase a few boxes of factory ammo, but I've read that the Lee die set will not work on factory cases. What are you folks with these Nagant revolvers doing for ammo? I want to shoot the revolver, but would like to do it economically.

If I were Sam, I would refuse to paint more for him and Gibson should refuse to sell them to him. It was a stupid, disrespectful thing to do.

Winchester 90-22 rifle price.

If that rifle could talk...think of the stories it might tell. The history and the mystery. I love it, and your friend has a very nice family heirloom. -
On the Springfield you could change to a traditional, (non-ILS), mainspring housing with a "stock" 23# mainspring. It should help it to cock a lot smoother than an ILS housing which comes with, (I think), a 28# mainspring. It should result in a lighter trigger pull as well. I dislike the ILS because (1) It was a lawyer induced add-on. (2) If it needed it, John Browning would have designed it that way. (3) Standard parts are easier to find. Keep us informed to what mods you make.

How about The Spagetti Factory for those of us in the Nashville area?

I picked up a Smith & Wesson 500 mag from a buddy in my reserve unit. I got brass and dies as part of the deal and I have no clue, (nor does he), as to how many times they have been reloaded. I have reloaded them at least 4 times and I've only thrown one out due to a crack at the mouth. Save your brass and as stated, inspect it at each stage of the reloading process...trim if needed and keep on keeping on as Joe Dirt would say.

I got this directly from the "2009 Standard Catalog of Firearms". 19th Edition. On page 300. "This is another version of the Cobra. It features a shorter grip frame and a 3" barrel. This model is chambered for .32 and .22 rimfire. There were approximately 3,000 manufactured in 1955 and 1956" By the way, it is a very nice looking revolver. Being handed down through the family makes it priceless.

My mother had a Jennings J-22 years ago and it was stolen from her house. (Fast forward). She gets a phone call from the Lavergne PD that they have the pistol. It was found by a guy in East Nashville in his sons room so he turned it into metro PD. Long story short, Lavergne PD had the pistol and she never got it back after multiple phone calls. In an officers pocket? Who knows? I'm not a hater nor a gun snob.....if they are as bad as people portray them to be and you want to rid yourself of one, PM me as I wouldn't mind having one. Lets deal.

Sorry to get off topic, but the best "add on" you can make to that rifle is a volquartsen target hammer. I've put them in both of the rifles I have and it makes the trigger seem like a different rifle. Kind of a trigger job in a bag. You wont be sorry you did it.
