  1. Just eat out at Waffle House a bunch and you'll run into them taking your order.
  2. Absolutely. I was there today, in fact.
  3. Like one week ago. When's the last time you were at Franklin Gun Shop?
  4. Maybe all the fans could choose one or the other jerseys and the final exam could be a real live shootout!
  5. Dave, you probably already know this, and Leroy alluded to it, but at that distance the tripod is more important than the scope.
  6. Franklin Gun Shop has a bigger selection than any of these, so if you're just looking around, that should be on the list. They are very knowledgeable, but their prices are high. I hear a lot of folks on the board who don't like them, but I get along great with them and they've been a pleasure to deal with (as have been the other three that Dave mentioned).
  7. That is damn cool.
  8. I'm doing pretty well, all things considered. I was still on some pain meds not too long ago. Just one pill late in the day, but I decided that they weren't helping that much and I could feel how easy it was to stay on 'em. So I quite the next day, 5 weeks ago. I don't have any pain to speak of--just some tightness, which I can't figure out. I'm doing a lot of core strengthening and playing racquetball three times a week, so I'd say I'm a pretty darn lucky guy.
  9. Well, you definitely have a gift for it! It looks like you've been taking pictures a lot longer than a few months! Keep posting them for us to see.
  10. Mine doesn't.

  12. You can do it without a RAW setting, but it's not much worth it. You also typically cannot just auto-bracket because by definition it's not a good HDR candidate series unless the DOF remains constant. That means using the same f-stop and varying exposure time instead, which most cameras won't default to in auto-bracket mode.
  13. Loved the Country Grocery silo. Did you use a tripod on the bridge, and keep the DOF constant, varying only the shutter speed?
  14. That car and concert and spectacular.
  15. Those are great shots. I'm assuming you're going for the obvious HDR look. If you don't mind a little feedback, I think HDR is best used in a way where it's not as obvious. In other words, the shot has a high dynamic range but isn't as cartoon-like. Almost as if you have to tell someone that it's an HDR image. Anyway, here are two shots from Bermuda a few months ago to illustrate what I'm talking about:

  17. Oops. You all are making some bad assumptions.
  18. I had a long reply all typed out, and just as I went to hit "post quick reply" I realized you were asking about guns and not guys. Darn.
  19. Yes, definitely a "twitch" time of moment.
  20. ...but this time I'm okay. This arrived today, finally, after quite a wait for the C & R application:
  21. Hey, I don't have an answer on the layaway issue, but I admire the fact that you are doing this responsibly and saving up rather than spending money you don't have. That doesn't make you much of an American, of course. Good work.
  22. This is a good course, folks. I am glad I took it.
  23. Just finding her home, not having left me yet, is a great source of happiness.
  24. Update... "Hello, Justin. This is David Baker." "Hello, Mr. Baker. Sorry about that cryptic message on your phone. I wasn't sure if it was okay that someone knew you ordered a gun." "Oh, no problem. She likes guns too!" "Anyway, I see that you ordered a black trigger, and it's the only thing on the gun that's black. My boss asked me to call you to make sure that it wasn't a mistake." "No mistake. I'm doing something a little experimental. On the other hand, if I don't like it, what are my options?" "You can send it back, and it's just $20 for the new trigger and $20 for labor." "Let's go for it then."
