At least Heizer is moving in the right direction from the silly neo-derringers. An appropriately pared-down 9mm version might be interesting. Does anyone know about the operating principal? It says the barrel is fixed, but I don't think a straight-blowback .45 ACP that weighs 25oz. is feasible. ETA: Okay, from what I'm finding it is straight blowback.

The receiving FFL dealer is required to open the box to verify the serial number....
-
I'm guessing it's probably not much fun to shoot with full power loads, but The S&W 329PD is 6 shots of .44mag in bout 25 ounces.

There's a bunch of 10mm 1911 offerings, and pretty much any 1911 can be converted to 10mm. I've got a custom Colt Delta Elite right here in town if you want to try a few rounds. SIG does the P220 in 10mm now, but I'm pretty sure only in a steel frame, so it would be just as heavy. Finding a single-stack lightweight .40 cal with enough room in the magazine/magazine well for the 10mm is gonna be a tough one. The guys convert XDs... they might be able to do a conversion to .460Rowland on your XDs... https://www.460rowland.com/

Okay, update: I bought the SIG a couple of months ago, put in the APEX trigger, wrung it out at the range and I've been carrying it for a little while now. I really like it, my favorite of the Polymer striker-fired "McPistols" so far. Surefire XC1 and kydex form Bravo Concealment, and just like that I've got me new EDC rig.

Okay, now it's an 8" .300BLK thread. :dirty:

The collector gun market has gone pretty nuts, but no part of it more so than the Colt DA revolver crowd. Absolutely insane prices.

"Army boss takes aim at bureaucracy over sidearm choices"
dcloudy777 replied to quedz's topic in Handguns
The real irony is, modern JHP ammo would almost certainly cause less "undue pain and suffering" than stupid 19th century-spec FMJ. 1-2 shots and a threat is stopped, instead of peppering the dude with icepick holes until he bleeds out or something hits the CNS. IMHO, modern expanding ammunition (especially in handguns) is more in line with the intent of the Hague Accords than FMJ. -
Airshow? Motorcycle ride? 4-5 June 2016

I suppose would depend on who would want to go and where they live. -

Sidearm selection only narrowly beats out bootlace selection in importance. Replace end-of life M9s with M9A3s. Done. Anything else is a complete waste of resources. Doing something really stupid like switching to .45 or .40 would be even worse than just a waste or resources. -
Const. Carry Bill brought up today
dcloudy777 replied to CommsNBombs's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There are way too many committees and subcommittees in what is supposed to be a "part time" legislature. -
http://www.greattennesseeairshow.com/ The Blue Angels are back, as well as the Breitling jets and an F-22! IIRC, the motorcycle parking at the show is pretty great (as opposed to the auto parking, which is a nightmare). TGO Airshow meet & ride anyone?

I would think very low velocity, as the shot column wouldn't make a very good "barrel seal", and the much of the burning powder gasses, being lighter than the shot, would actually come through the shot and beat it to the muzzle. Or maybe the shot would get hot enough to obturate... heck, I'm just thinking out loud.
-
I always just carry my normal gun, OWB at about 4:00. I can't get to without unzipping the jacket, but I'm only going to have the jacket zipped (or even on) when actually riding anyway... and trying to shoot while moving on a bike seems like a terrible idea outside of a film set.
-
Have you (or has anyone) done much testing with this round out of longer barrels? Would something like a 7-8" barrel add much velocity, or does 4-5" burn all the powder you can cram in there already?
-
Very nice. I'm quite jealous. The PK-series is the only Combloc small arm that isn't thoroughly outclassed by its Western counterpart... it's an excellent GPMG.
-
Very well made guns, but rather "outdated" as far as size/weight : power ratio goes. Not my first choice as a carry gun (you can get more effective cartridges in the same size or smaller these days), but good, well made weapons for sure... basically a refined PPK. The only straight blowback gun that has ever done it better is the CZ83.

The 10mm necked down to .356 (9X25 Dillon) already pushes 95gr bullets up to right at 2000FPS... I don't know how fast a ~70gr .30 cal could go. I'd like to find out though.
-
Where (on you, not geographically) do you intend to carry your BUG? Pocket? Off-side? Ankle?
-
You are absolutely correct, sir. I posted that one "on the fly" as it were and went all feeble-brained.
-
I'd like one too, but that would run afoul of NFA. Smoothbore and it would be a short-barreled shotgun. Rifled and it would be a Destructive Device (unless you could get a "sporting exemption" from the BATFE, which is highly unlikely.) Taurus actually brought a 28 gauge revolver prototype to SHOT one year...
-
Nope. The barrel is rifled. It's a handgun chambered in .45 Colt. Any other round that can be fired out of it is just incidental.
-
The "retro" part is the XM-177-esque barrel/fake moderator/A1 upper (although a really strange combo of A1 sight plus forward assist... where the heck did I get this upper?). The wood is just... well, cool wood. I'm actually thinking about putting an Armson OEG on it... I had no idea, but you can still buy them brand new.
-
Oh BTW, I do like retro-cool as well...

Got one on backorder from Brownells, complete with FSB. Chrome lined, 1-7" twist, delta ring, handguard cap and everything . And Caster, they have the same thing in stock with an A-1 type profile and 1-12" twist....
