  1. FWIW, CMMG told me two weeks, and it was right at about 2 weeks for delivery. I haven't built the lower up yet, but it seems very well done.
  2. Just by going from the news story, the guy acted pretty stupidly, and probably would be charged with something. However, reckless endangerment is automatically a felony in Tennessee if a firearm is used. I don't think felony charges (basically ending the guy's life as he knows it), are warranted since the he was obviously trying to save someone's life and nobody was injured. DanO
  3. Well, it certainly seems like this thread is going to fix the club's parking problem....

    Bought a Draco

You can add a Form 1 and $200! DanO
  5. 3 Gun Nation is running a "points series" for us regular folks this year! http://3gunnation.co..._amateur_series Cliff notes version: 10 major matches are "points eligible", only your best three finishes are counted. 2 of these matches are at Rockcastle (very close), 3-4 others are a day's drive away, depending on where in the state you live. Prizes will be awarded, 1st place has already been announced ($1700 Stag Arms/ Dueck Defense rifle), if past performance of the 3 Gun Nation events and sponsors is any indication, the prizes will be incredible through at least 5th place. Only 25 bucks to enter, and 25% of that goes to the Task Force Dagger/Wounded Warrior Team (great cause). Who's in? I am. If nothing else, it's one more thing to beat me at! DanO
  6. Slugs are fine through almost any choke, but different chokes will have different points of impact (ask me how I learned that... hint: the hard way). DanO
  7. 18 rounds per stage average and moving sllug shots... never let the Open guy design stages!! Just kidding, I should be there. With the pump gun. DanO
  8. I just got my P7 back from Robar, they were running a 20% off special in December, so I sent the gun, 3 mags, and a new set of Trijicons in. After about a week, I got a letter back with a detailed estimate and an estimated date for the guns completion. About 3 days after the estimated completion date, I got a call asking for credit card information and letting me know that my gun was shipping out that day. Later that day I received an email with UPS tracking info, the next day my gun was back in my hands, and the work is even better than I was expecting. Sorry for the picture quality, I just have a phone for a camera these days. Long story short, I can absolutely recommend Robar. It's not the cheapest refinish out there, but I've never been more satisfied with a company. DanO
  9. It may just be the picture, but it looks like the notch in your upper isn't cut squarely. A few careful strokes with a file should do the trick, if you're comfortable doing that. DanO
  10. I just don't know why they went with a proprietary magazine. There are several .308 box mags that are dead reliable and widely available, I think the FNAR wouldn't be the cover of the CDNN catalog if mags hadn't been hard to find and ludicrously expensive. DanO
  11. I hope the new year finds everyone well. I just wanted to take a minute to remind TGO multigunners that Rockcastle Shooting Center just north of Bowling Green, is hosting 3 huge matches this year. 06/29 - 07/01 Rockcastle Shooting Center Shotgun Championship, Park City, KY 08/24 - 08/26 2nd Annual AR15.com Rockcastle Pro Am 3 Gun Championships, Park City, KY (no match website yet) 10/18 - 10/21 Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun Championship, Rockcastle Shooting Center, Park City, KY Rockcastle is only about an hour and a half from Nashville, and is rapidly becoming one of the world's finest and most sought-after competitive shooting venues. Most folks in Tennessee aren't ever going to have a match of this size any closer, so go sign up and shoot with the best in the world! DanO
  12. I believe the Steel City gang does a rifle-pistol match in Birmingham every year. That's about all I can think of. Honestly, just start shooting 3-gun with the pump. 3-gun shotgun is about 80% about reloading the gun anyway... until your skill start to develop you won't be significantly slower with the pump, and you aren't shooting for anything but pride anyway. If you take to 3-gun, and decide to shoot bigger matches for prizes, you can move to the autoloader later, the loading skills and equipment aren't any different. I used to hate the shotgun, now I really enjoy it. I'm still not any good at it, but it's fun. I'm even shooting a huge shotgun-only match in Kentucky this summer... with a pump gun (there's a separate division for them in this match)! DanO
  13. Great match... well thought-out stages and everything ran pretty smooth. Did scores go out? I can't remember if I put my email address on the score sheet or not. Thanks. DanO ETA: never mind, just found the scores in my spam box!

    .300 BLK?

Finishing up my 8" Noveske build now. I got a few hundred rounds of ammo in today from PNW, some 155gr and 220gr subs. I'm hoping to get some rounds downrange Sunday.
  15. Thread resurrection with a heads up... somebody has 500 bowling pins for sale on GOC (no affiliation, don't even know who the seller is). DanO
  16. Most shotguns come with stocks that are too long for defensive shooting for normal-sized people. Fortunately it's a pretty easy fix, plenty of aftermarket stocks available. Be advised that a pistol grip style stock (like the collapsible one pictured) makes the Mossberg safety very awkward to use. DanO
  17. I vote for 2 hits with .223, 1 hit with 7.62x39. 1 hit with a .308 neutralizes the target and the target on either side. Any competitor using a .308, pump shotgun, and a single stack .45 may neutralize targets with a growl or aggressive look. DanO
  18. Less talky, more shooty!! Seriously... the scoring isn't that big of a deal, just know what it is before the first stage, and shoot what they tell you to shoot the number of times they tell you to shoot it. It looks like I'll make it, still bringing the heavy metal gear, sorry about the noise! DanO
  19. That sucks man. I've got 5 that I've run in my DPMS gun for about a year and half now, several major matches worth of shooting. Mine have run flawlessly. The DPMS aluminum mags that came with my gun gave me all sorts of problems (don't know who makes them). Sometimes guns and mags just don't get along. I'll be happy to dispose of those crappy plastic mags for you. DanO
  20. This is the third sniper match that they have run up at RockCastle, I may have to try and make this one. It's a two-man team match with a "primary" rifleman shooting out to 1000 yards and a "secondary" shooting out to 600. They have tweaked the rules a little for this one, as primary and secondary shooters remain the same for the whole match (in the previous matches the team members have had to switch places). I don't have a 1,000 yard rifle or a 1,000 yard skillset, but 600 yards might be doable. Any long-rang folks feel like freezing your trigger fingers? Mammoth Sniper Challenge :: Home DanO
  21. That sucks Mike. You going to be okay in time for the Pro-Am? DanO
  22. I'll be there, working Pro Stage 4 with Mike C. I decided (foolishly) to shoot Pro... I have horrible luck with random draw, figured if I'm going to pick last it might as well be last from a bigger table. According to the MD, there is parking at each stage for 2 squads, so unless there is a bottleneck, you should be able to park close to where you shoot. This is shaping up to be an absolutely epic match! DanO
  23. The Match director just announced that a few folks have had to drop out of the match. Don't know if they were AM or Pro spots, but slots are available for the biggest multigun match in history! Just about an hour and a half north of Nashville! Home Page DanO
