TN Bill 1774 -- Lawful carry in vehicle without permit
dcloudy777 replied to RoDan's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yeah, I gotta respectfully disagree with Robert on this one. This law change is a pretty big deal.... IMHO the biggest positive change since HCP reform back in '94. Full-on constitutional carry and TICS exemption for permit holders are really just about all we have left to win on the state level. -
Who says you can't make fast followup shots from a large caliber handgun.

Chuck Norris wishes. Chuck Norris keeps Jerry's number handy in case he needs some shooting done. -
While no sleeves at all is still more of a Wal-Mart look.
-
It sucks, but Target and these other businesses are being backed into a corner... Kwikly. :pleased:

He does. Shake hands with him at your own peril. And if you meet him, he will shake your hand. He's just a super nice guy... I've shot at quite a few matches with him, and he'll just hang out and chew the fat with anyone that wants to talk to him. He's a very humble, down to earth guy, who's always the quickest to laugh at himself. -

Jerry does a lot of shooting things "wrong" because it works for him. He just isn't built like most of us. For example, a lot of his revolvers have a dead smooth grip, and instead of chalk or other stuff to enhance his grip like many top shooters use, Jerry puts corn starch on his hands! His reason is, if he "misses" his draw and gets a bad grip, he can just "muscle" the gun back into where it needs to be while he's shooting. Normal people can't get away with stuff like that. :pleased: -
auto knives at Smoky Mtn Knife Works
dcloudy777 replied to Bassoneer's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Do any of our East TN brethren live close enough to go check it out in person? -
They break or malfunction just like any other modern gun. Stoppages among modern, mainstream manufacture autos with decent ammo and factory mags are pretty darn rare.

Where "smoking" really comes in handy is fitting parts. I had never even thought about this method until I had a CZ75 barrel to fit. I did some research and found someone who suggested "smoking" it. Genius. Use the flame to "smoke" up the area that needs to be fitted, put the part in place, see wear the black stuff gets rubbed off, remove material there. Repeat as needed. Worked like a charm.

Indeed. The biggest gripe I have with DW 1911s is that I didn't buy one a few years back when they were the biggest steal in handguns.
-
Cool., thanks. I didn't read through the school weapons part of TCA, frankly because I'm way, way out of school, don't have kids, and can't think of a scenario where I'm gonna be on any sort of school property in the foreseeable future. And reading statutory language makes my head hurt, so if I don't need to read it, I don't. :pleased:
-
From reading both the old statute and the new revision several times, what I'm getting is that there basically is no knife law in Tennessee anymore. Which is how it should be. We don't have pipe wrench laws, and a knife isn't any different. The only real possible exceptions I can find are the definition of "weapon" in respect to carrying weapons in schools, courthouses, places like that.

That's a great deal... and good news. I know C-Products mags can be kinda "hit or miss". Glad to hear that their 9mm AR mags are GTG.
-
SIG finally started selling a threaded barrel for the P938, so my interest in a threaded R51 is pretty much gone unless they get dirt cheap.
-
You also aren't ever likely to get better deals on AR parts than you can get right now. The bottom has fallen out of the market.
-
Not always. Speaking of 9mm revolvers. The new 929 8-shot, which since the USPSA rule change has been what pretty much every revolver shooter and aspiring revolver shooter has been looking for, is unobtanium, while the stupid 986 7-shot, which has absolutely no practical use... is all over the place... there's like a dozen on them on Gunbroker. Smith makes good guns, but their product development process sucks... for the wheelgun side anyway.

This is going to be a pretty major crossroads for USPSA as an organization. If they handle this badly, it could be disastrous for attracting members and sponsors. -

This has become too big for USPSA to ignore now... the fallout is going to be... interesting. -

You'd think in a sport that requires the use of deadly weapons you wouldn't have to concern yourself with the honesty and integrity of the participants. -
I would recommend it highly. It will greatly simplify your "first match" experience for you and the range officers. The draw stroke is only one of the skills you need to train anyway, and every other skill you "work" shooting USPSA (hitting targets quickly, transitions, reloading, etc.) will be exactly the same as with your carry holster.
-
As far as I know, appendix carry is legal in all USPSA divisions except Production and Single Stack. It's gonna make some ROs pretty nervous though.
-
Blue Falcon Armory? That's some serious panache, right there, considering the DDLES debacle.

Oh don't apologize, we're just talkin' here. If we all thought the same way this would be a boring place. Discussions like this are how we all learn new things and new ways to think about old things.
