Do they move in IDPA? They tell you where to stand and what order to shoot targets in....
-
1 point / 1 second = IDPA is basically bullseye with goofy vests.

There's at least a 99% chance that the bolt will drop right in and work just fine. Definitely test-fire it though.

I went and checked it out yesterday, didn't actually shoot, but got the tour. Mike Maples, a good friend and Tullahoma "gun guy" from way back is working there. It looks like a really nice range setup... very modern, with more ventilation and air-handling than it needs (those of you who have shot a bunch indoors know how important that is). Ten lanes I think? Which is adequate for the market I'm sure... I doubt anyone will ever have to wait long to shoot. There's going to be a staff RO on the range at all times when people are shooting... I think that's a fantastic idea. Lane use fees and memberships were more than I've paid at indoor places before, but "before" was over a decade ago, so I should have expected that. Upon a little reflection, (and ignoring my inner cheapskate), prices are reasonable, and doing a little quick research I found they're pretty much inline with other indoor ranges. The storefront is a little sparse right now, but that's to be expected... starting from scratch is rough (I've been there). I have no doubt that fixtures and product will start rolling in in time for Christmas. I talked with Richard Brooks (the head cheese)... he certainly seemed like very good folks, and I can tell he's really excited about what his place is doing and where it could go. He was (naturally) crazy bust talking to folks and doing "opening" stuff, so I didn't get a chance to bend his ear much, but I'm planning on talking to him again soon.. I owe him a bottle of bourbon. All in all, I think it's a great thing for Tullahoma and the surrounding area. The location over on the South end of town means it's very convenient for the Estill and Winchester folks too. I got the impression from Mike and Richard that it's very much a "blank canvas" right now, waiting for customer and market input to help shape and direct where it goes. So if you're near the market, by all means go check it out and let them know how you wish it would go. I'll post more information as I collect it... I'll probably head back in there later this week.

Harwell most definitely needs to go. States that aren't anywhere near as "red" as Tennessee are making things like constitutional carry happen. It's frustrating.

Unless you just want cheap blasting ammo, I'd recommend .300BLK, 6.5 Grendel, or 6.8SPC over 7.62x39 if you want a "bigger bore" AR15-pattern gun

WHY is it a revenue stream? At least make the politicians stand up and say out loud that HCP holders are being grossly overcharged.

The metallic cartridge has been around for Yep. The metallic cartridge has been around for the better part of two centuries now. Pretty much anything is going to be a de facto version of a necked-down or necked-up something.

Pure speculation, but I'm betting all that mass under the dust cover is some sort of hydro-pneumatic recoil buffering system.
-
Not terribly hyped about the gun (although the "recoil reduction" stuff might be interesting). The cartridge, however, could have big potential and a subgun/PDW round.

Grrrr......!!! Where's the 3" LCR-X in .22LR, Ruger?

Learn to shoot a DA revolver well, and you'll be at least a passable shot with darn near any gun you ever pick up.

Steiner/Laser devices OTAL. It's built like (and shares many components with) the PEQ-series lasers the military uses, but is Class-1 (which means "eye-safe" and unrestricted) and is a simple, IR-only unit, so it's much, much cheaper. https://tnvc.com/shop/ldi-otal-class-1-ir-laser/ I really like mine a lot. At under 4 bills it's pretty much unbeatable. Hell, give me a couple or boxes of 5.56 ammo so I can re-zero it, you can borrow mine for your hunt.

MAC's "testing" is a lot better at generating site traffic than generating useful data. Exercises like these just aren't very relevant to what 99.99% of pistols are going to go through. And testing of any sort on just one example of a particular gun is never going to tell you much.

The sad part is that unless you find an incredible deal on a used 625 or 25 the Governor is the cheapest way into a S&W revolver that shoots .45ACP.

Not even the coolest gun called the TP9.

The SIG P320 does both better... and in one gun.

A federal agency making a lousy decision and spending taxpayer money unwisely? Not exactly unprecedented.

Sight solution for Long and short range

What are you trying to hit at 300 yards? Person-sized stuff that's trying to hurt you? Small critters? Really small chunks of steel/paper? -
If I knew then what I know now about EDC
dcloudy777 replied to mbeard1's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Lots of good stuff here I won't bother to echo. For at least a few weeks, you're going to feel like everyone you meet can tell you're carrying a gun. They can't. -
New guns sometimes require a bit of "break-in"... I wouldn't trust anything for protection without at least a couple of hundred rounds through it. That being said, if problems persist, it's just about got to be weak ammo or magazine related. There just isn't much else to go wrong on a fixed-barrel blowback gun like the little Bersa.

Silencer Shop kiosks

It looks really cool. But with the pre-41P rush... wait times are probably literally going to start going over 2 years. I'd really like an M4-2000 and a boosted 9mm can... but I don't think I'm going to bother to fool with it any time soon. -
IMHO the best of the "McPistol" (polymer frame striker fired quasi-DAO pistol) breed so far. I now EDC the P320 Compact in 9mm with a Surefire XC1. It's stock except for the Apex flat trigger. No pics, but I do have a quick vid of me shooting it in a drill "challenge" somebody posted on another sight. Challenge:From concealment, 3yards... 1 shot 1.5s, 2 shots 2s.

Need Opinions - Affect on weapons by Dry Firing (trigger pull practice)
dcloudy777 replied to a topic in Handguns
Unless you're extremely wealthy or have access to unlimited amounts of someone else's ammo, you aren't going to get good at shooting, particularly handgun shooting, without dry fire practice. Dryfiring most rimfire guns without a snap-cap/dummy rounds is a no-go.
