  1. Those guys offer a pump shotgun that costs well over $5000....   I have no words.
  2. Another vote for the Lee FCD.   I'm not a big fan of Lee stuff, but the Factory Crimp Die is awesome.
  3. Just came in to post this.   Huge news... I'm hoping for factory tours and an outlet store!
  4. I keep hearing good thing's about this trigger.  I'm still holding out for the Geissele though... their stuff is just incredible.
  5. I want to give one of these a try.  I really liked the P30s... except for the lackluster trigger.  Getting a good trigger on striker-fired gun is really easy...    And the "ears" on the rear of the slide are brilliant... a loooong overdue idea.
  6. I'd love to see some "smaller" manufacturer like maybe STI or Kahr buy the design/tooling from Remington (presumably for a song) and start making a decent version of this gun.
  7. That's a tough one, Bird.  The grip is the pretty much the toughest part of a gun to conceal, but that's exactly where you need the extra bulk.    Maybe try the M&P Compacts with the "large" grip inserts, and magazines from the fullsize gun with spacers?
  8. Only if they'd let me play with the 37mm launcher.
  9. If they had real rifles it would be even better.   :pleased:
  10. If you like to "tinker" and add stuff, the 10/22 has no peer.  I actually have one with zero Ruger parts... you can build the whole thing from parts now days.
  11.   The P7M8-style magazine release takes a little getting used to, but now that I have I find myself wondering why all pistols don't use it...
  12. It sucks, but I can understand why handgun training is a low-priority item for the DoD.  The average PFC Snuffy probably has as much chance of killing a bad guy with his E-tool as a pistol.    That being said, were I going into harms way, and was allowed to carry one, I'd darn sure make sure I learned how to use it a little, on my own dime if I had to.
  13. Does anyone know if there's a kydex holster maker within an hour or so of the Tullahoma area?  I've got a custom project I'd like to discuss.  Thanks.   DanO
  14. I'm a big 1911 fan, but there are a ton of better options for a general-issue service pistol, including the current M9.
  15. Cool.  I've seen and shot a few 17Ls... but I've never seen a 17LC.  I can't tell from the picture, is it actually marked 17LC?
  16. If you like the gun, $475 is a decent price.  I'd offer $450, just because... but you aren't going to get one much less than that, and by the time you've scoured the internet looking, it's probably worth the $20-40 bucks you might save to just buy from your buddy.
  17. As of 1 July, loaded firearms can be carried in vehicles in Tennessee by anyone; A. Not legally prohibited from owning firearms. and B. Legally operating a privately owned vehicle, or a vehicle whose owner has not prohibited firearms in it.    This huge law change flew almost completely under the radar... I have no idea how, but it's good.
  18. If you don't have an AR15-pattern gun right now, there are some incredible buys out there these days... the bottom has fallen out of that market after the massive shortage after Newtown.  You're likely never to get "more for your money" in an AR than right now.
  19.   I don't see anything like that either.. but if true, that's some cool engineering that I gotta see.   And now I'm sitting here thinking about an SAO striker-fired gun with a non-pivoting short-travel trigger like a 1911 and drooling......
  20. Soft-armor defeat capability is, IMHO, a waste of time for soldiers.  If an infantryman is facing an armored target, that armor is much, much more likely to be proof against rifle rounds.  Nothing that's gonna fit into a pistol that you can actually shoot is going to do a thing to a rifle plate.    But even if you decide that soft-armor might be encountered, the Russians, Belgians, and Swedes have been doing a lot of research, and having some success, developing 9mm pounds that will defeat it.  No sense reinventing the wheel.
  21. There's huge difference between a general-issue infantry rifle and a DMR.   The M-14 was a disaster as the former, and is quite good at the latter.  The AR-10 pattern .308 rifles that are replacing the M-14s are much better at the DMR job, however.  The M14s were mainly being fielded because guns like the M-110 couldn't get in troops' hands quickly enough.
  22. As long as we're still clinging to the antiquated and ridiculous Hague Convention and sticking with FMJ pistol ammo, military sidearms are decorative items, and it doesn't matter.  The M9 works just fine.  9mm FMJ sucks.  .40S&W FMJ sucks.  .45ACP FMJ sucks.    Have JAG write a brief outlining how JHP pistol ammo is perfectly in keeping (in fact, IMHO less "cruel" than FMJ) with the intent of the Hague and Geneva conventions.  Issue a modern 124gr JHP that shoots to the same POI as Q4318.  Replace M9s as they reach the end of their service life.  Problem solved.
