AR15.com has a lot of excellent info, but you do have to sort through a ton of BS to find it sometimes. Once you figure out how to separate the wheat from the chaff, you can get just about any AR15-realted question you could think of correctly answered there pretty quickly. Of course, you can more than likely get the same correct answer here... it just might take longer.

Optic and trigger are going to be your best "bang for buck" upgrades.

It's a hybrid image using the camera in the iPhone and the thermal sensor on the FLIR unit.
-
You still have the iPhone? You don't even need wi-fi for the FLIR to work. I plan to turn my 5 into a dedicated thermal imager / music player when I get my next phone.
-
They've been hyping it since January, and a few media types have been playing with samples, but now I, just a regular guy who ordered one on line, have the FLIR One thermal imaging attachment for the iPhone. It's pretty darn cool.... $350 is a fraction of the price of any sort of TI device available.

Geissele Triggers: Worth It?
dcloudy777 replied to SouthernLion's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I fully get the "software vs. hardware" argument.... but 200 bucks worth of 5.56 ammo isn't going to do nearly as much for the performance of an AR as a good trigger will. -
Geissele Triggers: Worth It?

On a handgun, maybe. On a rifle.... no way. The Geisselle is worth every penny. -
Things are beginning to turn around..... for good

Good for you man, bottle of champagne is on me (nothing too expensive, don't get excited  ). PM me. Congrats!! -
Mostly how to get the most credits to transfer from whatever major the student couldn't keep hack it in.

What I really want is a belt-fed 12 gauge. :pleased:

Legally, no... no more than buying any gun from a dealer does anyway. TICS (the state agency that does the instant background check), is required by law to purge the transaction from their records. The dealer is required to keep the form 4473 of your purchase on file, and to record that you bought that firearm. As mentioned above, you may subsequently sell the lower (complete or not) to any TN resident (provided you do not know they are otherwise legally prohibited) you wish, without any sort of record of the transaction. This being said, I do recommend a simple bill of sale, just to CYA.

Pacific Tool and Gauge does make a R700 bolt in the 5.7 X 28 size... http://shop.pacifictoolandgauge.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_20&products_id=168

Just FYI... You never really have to use the DA pull on a CZ75... The standard gun is good-to-go cocked and locked. In fact, I've had my SP01 converted to SAO, and there are several SAO guns available from the factory.
-
Just for discussion, why so set on striker-fired? The CZ 75 series is as good as the service-size pistol gets.
-
Buy the time you got it built you can probably get pretty close to just buying a used PS90. I didn't think about single-shots though... could you have a chamber insert made for a .22 Hornet maybe?

Auto-on flashlight or laser?
dcloudy777 replied to JWKilgore's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I don't want anything emitting a visible signature from my gun until I'm very sure I want it to. -
I do like that it's made here in TN. An integrally suppressed version would be a cool range toy.
-
Hmmm... bigger, heavier, and more complex than an airweight J-frame... with one less of a less powerful cartridge.... What's not to like? :pleased:
-
When you start to get that big and heavy... a 2 or 3" K-frame starts to look pretty appealing too.... and you get one more shot.

The little 340PD loaded with .357 Magnums is the only handgun that I've ever shot that I have absolutely no desire to shoot again. I've put thousands of rounds through my little Model 37, shot .500 S&Ws, .50AE Desert Eagles, crazy rifle rounds out of single-shot pistols.... no problem. The little ultra-light .357 literally felt like hitting my wrist with a hammer. :yuck:
-
If they could engineer a way for the gun to use the conventional tube magazine if the box mag wasn't in place would be a neat feature. You could keep in the fight if the box magazine runs dry or is damaged, or keep a different round (like slugs) in the tube for a quick select-slug drill.

For that niche, this system might be just the ticket. I'd wait for some beta testers to buy first though. The word on the old Knoxx sidewinder system was that they never really could get it to work reliably, so they stopped making it. Hopefully this new outfit has de-bugged it. I'd like to put one of those Salvos on my SBS Saiga... but I've already got too much money in that gun, can't really justify another $1500 (by the time you got it shipped and stamped) for what would be a range toy. Well, can't justify it yet anyway. :pleased:

Because even with the basic kit and a pawn shop M500, you still have enough money in it to buy a decent AR15... With a 590 host (the only Mossberg shotgun worth buying), you're looking at at least a grand.... and you still just have a pump shotgun. It looks like neat engineering... just not very realistic in today's market.
-
An outfit like Firebird, R&R, or Tooth and Nail Armory can build you a Saiga or 1919 Akdal tricked out to the gills for way under 5 grand.... and they're autoloaders.
