  1. The NFA blows, and the AOW section is probably the dumbest part of it.   But that's an AOW, presumably illegally manufactured.
  2. Good deal.  I have two of the compact M&Ps... need to get a full-size gun.   Not a huge fan of the "McPistol", but the M&P is my favorite of the bunch.  Apex can turn the trigger into something magnificent.
  3. You can have the Jennings, but that little .22Short Beretta is nice.   Needs a threaded barrel.
  4. I just put one of these on my 8" .300BLK gun... I really like it. Nothing proprietary except for the short buffer that comes with it, still a very comfortable stock, and takes bout an inch of the OAL of the gun. https://www.lwrci.com/p-361-uciw-ultra-compact-stock.aspx
  5. Amazingly enough... Mossberg found a way to make a PGO shotgun even more useless. :yuck:
  6. It depends:   Just throwing on a J and carrying it because it's small and light is lazy.   Learning the J well enough to effectively fight with it is gonna mean more work than a lazy person is gonna want to put in.  :pleased:
  7. I'm a fan. It's a great host for the little Thompson Poseidon.
  8. If they do the "kit gun" in 22, I might buy....
  9.   I don't disagree... I didn't state it clearly in my original post.  The original Glock .40 chamber (with a larger portion of the case unsupported) isn't entirely to blame for most of the early Glock .40 ka-booms... it's more of a case of "tolerance stacking"... the deeper ramp cut basically decreased the reloader's margin of error.   I still stand by my opinion that Glock didn't due its due diligence in bringing their .40 S&W guns to market.  They wanted to beat Smith so badly that they compromised R&D.  The fact that they later made changes that made most of the "problem" go away illuminates that.
  10. At home, suppressed 8" .300BLK AR.   At the store, 10.5" 5.56 AR.
  11. I was very interested in an R51 as a small suppressor host.   But then it turned out to be a lemon, and SIG released the threaded P938 barrel.
  12.   Checkmate Beretta M9 mags = avoid like the plague.    Checkmate M14/M1A mags = as good a magazine as you're going to find.
  13. LOVE my Scout Squad. It makes me wonder why they didn't just build the M14 with the 18" barrel to begin with. I took the forward rail off (M1As aren't supposed to have optics  ) and dropped it in a USGI M14 stock and handguard... Awesome rifle.
  14. I see whole lotta fancy imagery and marketing.   I see practically no data.   Pass.
  15.   Indeed.  But it was a really, really frustrating time to be a broke college kid just getting into guns.  :ugh:   It was frustrating then... it's heartbreaking now to see what those guns are bringing.
  16. They imported a bunch of Bulgarian SLRs with synthetic thumbhole stocks (and excellent barrels made by Steyr) back in the mid 90s.  They went for about 3 bills.  I wish I would have bought one.  Heck, I wish I would have bought a few dozen.
  17.   Honestly, if you have to ask "why"... it probably shouldn't be a law (laws are by definition abridgements of liberty after all).   The problem is, the way it's written, the state NFA law could be used to cause major headaches to a lawful NFA owner.  The cops don't have to recognize your Form 4 (or whatever) as proof of proper registration.    Getting rid of state laws about NFA stuff would remove this potential pitfall, and wouldn't make a bit of difference for people illegally possessing NFA stuff.  The feds are still gonna crucify them (unless they are a Mexican drug cartel anyway).
  18.   Why?  I don't recall ever hearing of anyone being charged...  And we all know one of our local jackalope celebs tried pretty hard to get the book thrown at him recently.
  19. We need to get rid of the state laws regarding NFA weapons.   They're fully redundant with fed law anyway, and as written could be used to really make life miserable for NFA owners.  (Basically you could be subject to arrest until the proper registration could be confirmed with BATFE  ).
  20.   Well, to be fair, only sometimes.
  21. Both weights reliably deliver 12+" of tissue penetration, so both should perform as good as handgun bullets are going to perform.  In fact, the 124gr "standard" pressure GD does just fine as well.   I shoot the 124gr, mainly because my EDC is a n HK P7, which doesn't do 147gr bullets.   In the guns you listed, either would work just fine.  I'd pick the one that more closely matches the POI of your practice ammo.
  22. On a pistol, you should be fine.   Maybe try a rail riser or some other picatinny accessory that could "bridge" the gap between the rail on the receiver and the rail on the handgaurd while you tighten eveything down?
  23. Slightly off topic.... front sights on handguards aren't the best idea.  Some HGs are "stiff" enough to reasonably hold zero, but most really aren't... especially out at the end where the front sight would go.
  24. It's mostly a problem with the very early Glock .40 guns.  Glock cut every corner possible to "beat" S&W to market with a gun chambered in Smith's own cartridge, and didn't really do they should have to develop the guns.  Quite a few blown up guns resulted.
  25. Double tap.
