I've got a few "irons" ARs... including the truck gun. You can get just as accurate, and damn near as fast with irons as a dot.... but it takes a LOT more work.
-
There's a little more to it than that, especially if you're getting it approved by BATFE for export. If they stick to a high quality / low volume business model, I predict they'll sell all they make.
-
The CMC's are a great value. The Geissele is amazing ( I like the SD3G), but a little spendy.
-
It depends on the hammer, and the existing sear. Some parts are designed to "drop in"... while others, particularly the high-end stuff, is shipped deliberately "oversized" and will require hand fitting.
-
Ideally, SIG releases a 10MM P227 (SAO, 5" since I'm just wishing anyway). Then I can swap top ends between that and the P220 I already have.
-
Really cool. I'm hoping for the eventual release of a "X-change Kit" for my existing P220. And a P227 in 10mm.

Glock + every year after about 1988 or so = lame. As long as Glock remains steadfastly married to thick plastic mags, their single stack is going to be thicker than everyone else's anyway...

The folks at NFA Branch are actually pretty awesome. Every time I've dealt with them (which has been a lot, especially back in the gun business days), they've been very polite, helpful, and professional. The BATFE sucks. But some of the people that work for them are pretty cool... some of them are also very much on our side. I hate that E-form 4 is going to stay down for so long... but honestly it's probably better for my bank account. :pleased:

Interesting. It's apparently straight blowback... I want to see how they made the bolt heavy enough to prevent early unlocking... there's no buffer to replace with a heavier one like on the AR. Probably some nifty engineering. Gas operation would have been sweet, and could have potentially made for a crazy lightweight gun... but that's a tall order with the 9mm... just not much gas to work with. I'll likely just stick with my CMMG dedicated 9mm AR lower, unless this turns out to be cheap (which I seriously doubt it will). Always cool to see new stuff coming out though. Hopefully it doesn't drive up the price of Colt-pattern 9mm mags too much. :pleased:
-
That's pretty darn sweet. If I hadn't done my TP9 SBR last year, I'd be all over this. I might end up with one down the road anyway. Form 1 E-file is gonna make me broke. :pleased:

I'm really hoping that with the new FNX and FNS lines, FN is finally getting serious about the modern combat handgun business. They've kinda flirted around it for years now.
-
Fair enough... shouldn't you be gumming tapioca and taking your pills, gramps? :hat: Actually on most things I find myself pretty "old school" myself.... I know the feeling... and ironically enough I stopped in the middle of the post to take my pill. :pleased:

Why in the world would you want to do that? .45ACP FMJ and 9mm NATO FMJ produce wound channels that are almost indistinguishable (they both suck, IOW), and at least with the 9mm you get more chances to hit something important per magazine.

Nice pickup. The RIA guns are pretty darn nice for the money. The grips, however, are indeed terrible. I'm pretty sure that's what ever tree just happens to grow in the RIA factory parking lot.

Jim was also a ridiculously talented and skilled shooter with a zillion rounds downrange and ice water in his veins, and that's what I think helped him more than anything.

Favorite suppressor host
dcloudy777 replied to swim615's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
My threaded CZ Kadet kit is freakin' awesome. A nail-driving accurate .22 that handles like a "real" pistol. My .45ACP-converted SMLE is cool because it's insanely quiet. The first time I shot it, it was at a big range, so I had full ear-pro in. I literally thought it had misfired, it was so quiet. It never really ejects reliably though... it would need more work to run 100%, and I've just never got around to it. The HK P9S is cool... because its roller-locked action lets you hand huge SMG suppressor on it and it still cycles. Plus it's just a sweet shooting gun, magnificent trigger. And this Beretta 21... just because with the TM Wasp, it still fits in a coat pocket. -
Tavor Geissele new product Sabra Lightning Trigger Bow
dcloudy777 replied to willis68's topic in Long Guns
Hmmm.... If they offer a flat version like their SD series.... -
It's just not nearly as good as gas operation. Apart from allowing for a submacinegun that weighed less than a cinder block, the operating system was a complete developmental dead end.
-
I'm a .300BLK fan, but honestly, if not in a suppressed gun, or an SBR, it doesn't offer anywhere near of an advantage over the 5.56 to justify the added cost.
-
There's not really anything you could have done that would be dangerous. Go shoot it. Some guns, particularly new ones that need a little break in, don't like to manually cycle rounds. Lube it up and go see if you you have live-fire problems before you start troubleshooting.

Does a j-frame make you lazy
dcloudy777 replied to Parrothead's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
J-frame + lazy = slightly better than a cell phone and harsh language. Those little guns that are easy to carry are tougher to win fights with. You can certainly do it, but you have to put in more work. -
If Ruger does the 3" gun in .22LR, I'll probably buy one. Excellent "teaching" gun.

I've always wondered how well the Hi-Point production, particularly of their carbine, would "scale-up". Coupled with the ridiculously efficient logistic system we've developed in this country, I think if the need arose, we could arm every adult in America with a semiauto carbine in a matter of a couple of weeks.
-
Yep. Hell, I think I was on the same side of the "argument" that this thread was about as he was. The only thing I did was take umbrage at his hyper-confrontational tone. I have Arfcom for that :pleased: ... TGO is where I come to be laid back and mellow.

In Nashville Man pulls gun after his order was messed up
dcloudy777 replied to vontar's topic in General Chat
The only real disappointment is that the thug wasn't immediately gunned down like a rabid dog by a HCP holder as soon as he started waving a gun around....
