  1. My first and second 1911 were Kimbers, mainly because of the name. Everyone reconizes the name. After doing a little research and a lot of reading on here and 1911forums my last 1911 was a Dan Wesson. Seems like to get a better 1911 than DW you must step up to a Wilson, Nighthawk, ect..
  2. I personally like the Blackhawk convertible. The ability to shoot cheap 9mm is worth alot in my opinion. The larger frame would probaly be more comfortable to shoot full power 357s out of also.
  3. Gonna be hard to beat the Ruger Sr1911 and the Springfield Range officer for a first 1911. You get alot of bang for your buck with either. Alot of people seem to like the Rock Island 1911s also.
  4. Congrats!
  5. So sorry to hear of your loss, prayers lifted for your family.
  6. I bought my wife an PSA upper for Christmas, and I've probably built 10 lowers from PSA parts kit. I am very pleased with PSA stuff. I've heard mixed reviews on the PTAC line they also sell but never had any personal experience.
  7. I had a sr9 and wife carries an sr9c, both have been fantastic guns. If the 45 is as good as they are you better jump on that deal.
  8. Good luck and prayers on the way. I went thru something similar last year at 30yrs old and again recently. Was working long odd hours at work, just miserable. Started having numbness in my fingers. Got scared, looked up symptoms of a heart attack. Started worrying about it and before long was having chest tightnes, light headed, ect... Ended up having a 2 ekg's, a stress test, and an echo. Cant find any problems with my ticker. Even had a CT scan on my head for the light headedness and no problems. All the docs say its anxiety related. On the plus side Ive dropped 30lbs and eating much more healthy. It also put the fear of God back in me. Got me back into church and trying to live better.
  9. Awesome to hear, Ive got two Vortex products that Im very happy with. I had to send a scope back to Nikon back in November. Didnt hear a peep from them till it showed up in late January, but atleast they replaced it.
  10. Ive wore a Wilderness Instructor belt the last 4 years, it makes a world Of difference.
  11. Where do yall shoot at? Bubbling Springs? Last few times I've drove up there to shoot, it has been too crowded. Just curious, I need to find somewhere locally to shoot.
  12. Beautiful shotgun sir. My grandfather left me his '63 model light 12 A5. Haven't even shot it yet, I need to work on that.
  13. I might be a bit biased.
  14. I grew up thinking the only truck was Chevy. I still think the best looking trucks ever made are the older Chevys, BUT there are two Tacomas, a 4runner and a Straigt axle Toyota pickup in my driveway now. I got tired of working instead of driving them. Rarely had to work on a vehicle in the last ten years.
  15. GP100 Glock 19 Ruger MK series .22 Single action anything BHP
  16. Man that sucks, hope you have a quick recovery.
  17. You did well, I love my Shield. It is the perfect carry gun.

    Buds

Definatly not true! I shot there yesterday, even put a hundred rounds of reloads down range.
  19. Finally got to shoot it today, went by Buds in Sevierville to try there range for the first time also. It was nice and clean and most importantly heated. The RO seemed like a nice guy also. Anyways I put over 250 rds thru it without a hiccup. I tried a little of everything but it ate it like a Glock. 50 WWB 230gr fmj 50 WWB 200gr fmj 50 lead RN reloads 50 lead semi wadcutter reloads Some aluminum cased fmjs And most importantly 50 Speer Gold Dots I wouldnt be scared to put this into my carry rotation, actually I beleive I will.
  20. Im In Newport. I hunt some in Parrotsville and all the wifes family live there.
  21. 3 Jimmys is pretty good, Old Mill is also. Ilike Calhouns but they are not gun friendly. Alamo is doing buy one get one thru the week right now for lunch. Been eating there almost everyday. They say the Peddler is pretty good but Ive never tried it. Wifes cousin works there ,may hafta take her for VDay and use her cousins discount.
  22. Yep, Im already wanting another. Maybe a Razorback in 10mm. At the rate I've been collecting, that would probably cause a divorce tho. Oh well, I can dream.
  23. Haven't gotten a letter here, but I drive for a government agency so I'm exempt from having the medical card luckily. Thought about getting the med card in case I wanted to moonlight on the side but never have.
  24. Ive been wanting to pick up a DW1911 ever since a member here let me fondle his Dan Wessons a couple years ago after I bought a Kimber Eclipse from him. I found this one on Buds. Ordered it Monday night, and it arrived at my ffl today. It was a trade in but you can barely tell it. Plus it saved me about $300 on a new one. Cant wait to shoot it!
  25. Ive got 4 or 5 Nikons around here on various deer rifles. They seem to be a great value. But after purchasing a Vortex Viper last year for my 308 I am hooked. It will be Vipers from here on out. ETA: Ive had a Vortex SPARC on an AR for about 3 years. Has performed flawlessly. Would like to try the SPARC 2. Might hafta buy one for the wifes AR.
