Congrats on the new toy. I just picked up a G33 with glock nite sights. They are fine but I like the TFO's on my g20 better. Cant hardly go wrong with any of em tho.

Gatlinburg has G22. I got a friend with Newport PD that carries G31 but that may be his choice, didnt thinck to ask him what they are issued.

Our employee handbook says permit holders may keep there firearm in there locked vehicle or non permit holders may have a weapon during hunting season if they are going or coming from hunting(also in locked vehicle). When I first started with the city there was no firearms allowed other than the hunting part, but luckily in the last few years it was revised.

Killed a doe opening morning and a 6 point Sunday. Had a good year so far, been 4 times and killed 3. Gonna take a good one before I pull the trigger again this year. -
Rifle season. What are you carrying this year?

Either a Remington 700 SPS in .243 or a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem. Both topped with Nikon 3-9x40's. On occasion Ill break out dads old Rem 742 30-06. -
Smoked a big doe about 20 till 9 this mornen'. Talk about foggy this morning, didnt know if Id be able to even see a deer. Was looking forward to hunting all weekend but It'll be nice to sleep in in the morning. H heres one of my lil man when i got home, cant wait till he's going with me.

Your exactly right, and a very good practice to preach. Very funny story looking back but the only time I ever needed a 2nd shot was during the 09 Muzzloader season. We had a lease in Weakley County when I shot the first deer I seen as she cleared a timber line. Only deer I had seen in a few days of hunting so I was eager to shoot. Well I dropped her in her tracks as a good eight point cleared the wood line to sniff her as I sat there and looked on with an empty gun. Looking back I dont know wether to laugh or cry...

Is there anybody else shooting a smokeless muzzleloader. There is a few on the market includeing the Savage 10 ML II which is the most popular and what I shoot. They seem to be a hot topic on several of the boards I cruise, so I thought we could share some loads/info/tips here.

Alot of good info right there. Ive always liked the CCI 209M and Federal 209A primers, as they are alot hotter than most other primers. I shot Pyrodex then 777 before I got my smokeless muzzleloader. I had good results out of the 250gr Shockwaves and 250gr Barnes Original over 90gr 777 or 100gr Pyrodex. Had good acuracy outta the 295gr Powerbelt but the on game performance was hit or miss. One would pass thru then the next would blow up on contact. The deer would either drop in its tracks or run with no blood trail. Nothing compares to the performance of smokeless but as im getting older the attractiveness of this "primitive" muzzleloading really appeals to me.

Ive heard alot of good stuff about Blackhorn 209 from several different hunting forums Im on. Supposed to be the closest thing to smokeless. I plan on trying it in my old Knight Wolverine one of these days to see for myself.

My lil man is only two so I still got a few years. Good luck to all the juvies this weekend.

Ill be using my Savage 10 MLII with 44 grains of AA5744 over a 250gr xtp and mmp sabot. Gonna try to pick up some IMR 4759 or 4227 this weekend to try out with some 300gr xtp's.

To each his own. I love my Savage 10 ML II smokeless muzzleloader. I get to shoot/hunt more and clean less. It still loads from the muzzle and you only have one shot. If a modern muzzleloader or crossbow gets somebody in the outdoors that wouldnt have been there otherwise, then thats a win for us all. Good luck to everyone this season, no matter what weapon you choose.

I love my mkII target. The rugers are great pistols. You also mite wanna check the Browning Buckmarks. Those seem to be the most popular, and probaly for good reason.

Ive got a Remington 700 sps in 243 win. I bought it for my lil boy to deer hunt with n a few years. I love it, killed a big 4 point with it last year that never took a step. Complete pass thru at about 100 yds with 100 gr Hornady inter-locks. Its a wonderful versatile caliber, that will handle anything in Tennessee, plus ammo is easy to find and cheap. My next rifle will be a Remington 700 or Savage 10 in 7mm-08. Hard to beat anything based on the 308 cartride.

x2, I usually try to hunt out of my Summitt Viper but alot of places just dont accomodate a treestand. I just cant keep still or comfy for long on the ground. A good stool would work wonders. I tried using one of those fold up camp chairs but they are worthless if the ground isnt somewhat level.

I love my G30! I shoot it better than my 21sf for some reaseon.

Georgia Arms is the way to go if you decide to get a 10mm, if you dont reload. The last time I stocked up I got 50 rounds of fmj for 20.50 or 50 rounds of jhp for 21.50, at the gun show. You can get it cheaper in bulk. Premium carry/hunting ammo can get a little pricey though.

I recently sold a 2nd gen G20 to buy a 3rd gen 20sf. Im a big guy but the 20sf feels perfect to me. The full size still feels good to me but I prefer the sf. They are a wonderfull shooting pistol. Go fondle one at the gun shop and if it fits you, buy it. I use mine as a woods gun and have recently added a set of TFO's. Gonna try an get a deer with it this year if its comes close enough.
