Got my check last Thursday as well.

I'm 66 and plan to buy a lifetime in April when mine expires. Sometimes you have to pay a little extra to avoid the hassle of renewing in the future. I may be in a nursing home and they won't let me out to go renew it. LOL

Chicago is actually not a part of the United States. It is an entity of it's own, sort of like an Indian Reservation or the Russian Embassy.

If I have to go to one of these places, I just forget that I have a LCP in my pocket and go on in. If I don't really have to go in then I don't.

I went by to visit my farm last week and found a boat on the bottom of the pond that I never knew was there.

Get an MGW from Brownells. That is what the instructor at the Glock factory in Smyrna advised me when I took the Glock Armorers course. Glock will replace the factory one as it breaks but they seem to be lighter built than the MGW.

Research the term adverse possession.

You are right. They will never come to take the guns. First they will require registration. Then they will outlaw certain types of firearms. Then they will require everyone to turn them in. The one day 5 years later while you are on vacation a neighbor will find you door open and the police will come and find a gun. Or you will have a fire and the fire department will find a gun. Then you will be arrested and get 5 years in a federal prison. Then your neighbors will throw theirs in the lake.

Flying to Florida and taking a handgun

Last time I did it the process was like this. I took the gun in a lockable hard case to the ticket counter. I had to open the case and show the agent that it was unloaded. He had me lock the case and I kept the key. He pasted a FIREARM tag on the case and took it. I showed ID at the other end and they handed the case to me. -
I bought $3800.00 worth of furniture in Canada and had it shipped to Nigeria.

I have no problem giving a Bill of Sale with my DL Number and address. I feel there is no more risk to me by giving him this info than he is taking from me potentially misusing the gun that is in his name.

Best places to purchase ammunition online.

I don't have one but in 1987, I was a Class 3 dealer and bought 3 brand new ones for $325 each.

I would think it would depend on the size of your wiring. With a 14 wire, I would be afraid to go with a 30 amp. If the wiring is 12 ga, I would probably swap it out.

Maybe it cost $50 to drill 4 more holes in the cylinder.

Etowah is a pretty good place to work out of. I spent 27 years as a locomotive engineer running back and forth from Etowah to Corbin, KY. The South End running to Atlanta is a better run. Our run has a lot of mountains, tunnels, and bridges. My favorite run was always the spur line to Tellico Plains. I loved working the local and going through the mountain country to the little town of Tellico. My grandfather used to be the freight agent in Tellico and always walked down to meet me at the train.

Good idea. I have 2 acres on the lake in Lenoir City. About once a year I get a letter from someone who has looked up the property at the courthouse and wants to know if I am interested in selling it. One day I will get a letter when I am in the mood to sell. It never hurts to ask.

I just bought 34 acres with no restrictions. Found it on landwatch.com.

What is the proper way to privately buy firearms?
eRay replied to bird333's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If my DL had my social security number on it, I would black that out. Otherwise I do not have a problem with it. -
I used to be a dealer and sold guns through Davidson's gallery of guns. The dealer programs his markup into davidsons website and when you order Davidson's sends the gun right out to him. I always tried to find another gun or two to add to the shipment to save a little on shipping costs. I didn't make a lot of money on the guns but lots of the time the customers liked my service and came back and bought a gun from me later or picked up ammo when they got their gun. Davidson's sends a warrenty card with the gun. Be sure to fill itout and send it in. If they can not repair your gun, they replace it. Seemed to work pretty well.

Walmart strikes again, this time more serious

I had a shop bust the fiberglass fairing on a Trans Am while putting it on a lift several years ago. My insurance paid to have it repaired then sued the shop for their money back. The insurance company collected from them and returned my deductable to me. -
You made an excellent choice. I have 4 of the parked loaded springfields. Only thing I changed on them was putting in a GI recoil spring setup and changing the mainspring housings to EGW arched ones. My favorites of all the 1911's.

I have Springfield Armorys. Colts, Kimbers, S&Ws, and Rugers. If money was the biggest issue, and I was going to buy an entry level 1911, I would get a Ruger SR1911. If I was only going to buy one to keep for years, I would pick what I consider to be the best compromise between price and quality, the Springfield Loaded. I have 14 1911's and five of them are Springfield Loadeds. They have just about everything I want on a 1911 except for a checkered frontstrap.
