  1. I'm about to turn 69. I sold most of my guns 4 years ago and used the money to help me upgrade my old house to a new one on the lake. I don't get around as well anymore and figured I should spend the rest of my days sitting on a boat dock. So far, I have not regretted my decision. I don't have a son or grand kids to leave any guns to and my daughter would rather have the house on the lake. I'm just glad that I sold them before the gun market bottomed out.
  2. Lets throw another murky question out here. I live on a 2 acre place on the lake. I recently learned that my property is zoned A-2 agricultural. My next door neighbor is zoned R-2 residential. Since my 2 acres are zoned agricultural and I grow a garden, would I qualify for the fishing exception? Not that it matters as I have a lifetime license. Just wondering as there seems to be no minimum property size.
  3. I heard the neighbors dog barking up a tree a while back. I walked over to see what he was barking at and was greatly surprised to see a big groundhog about 30 feet up in the tree. First time I had ever seen one in a tree.
  4. I retired early. First few years, I was bored to death. A couple of years ago, I had a new house built on the lake. I am finally at peace with slowing down and taking life easy. I would recommend figuring out what you are going to do in retirement before you pull the plug.
  5. I used to get a lawyer to make all my deeds. Last couple of times I just went to a title company and told them I just needed a deed made up. They did it for a lot less than an attorney. I sold a farm a few months ago. The title company charged me $ 100 to make the deed and notarize my signature. Buyer pays recording fees when he records the deed at the courthouse. Seller usually pays for the deed preparation.
  6. I don't believe that government officials can do whatever they want. I do believe that a lot of them believe they can do whatever they want. Therein lies the problem.
  7. It would if it wasn't the government doing it.
  8. I bought a plan F from UnitedHealthcare. My wife bought a plan F from Farm Bureau. Hers was about 25% cheaper than mine. After 3 years both have paid every medical bill with absolutely no problems. We are both happy with our supplemental policies.
  9. I have voted for several Democrats over the years. I can't think of one that I could vote for today. The Democrat party of today is not the Democrat party of my generation.
  10. That would be my luck. Then the killer would get out on parole and come for me.
  11. We defend him because we believe he is our last hope to save this great country.
  12. They want a background check when you sell it to another TGO member. Without this, they have no real way to know who has what.
  13. I guess everyone knows that TSA is allowing illegal immigrants to fly without any ID. You only have to have ID to board a plane if you are a US citizen.

    Ruger Wrangler

    Grabagun has them for $187.
  15. I just did this bout a year ago. I changed my address online. Then I had to apply for a duplicate Handgun Permit online. The duplicate costs $5. They told me on the phone that it is not necessary to change your gun permit address as it has the same number as your drivers license and one is good enough. I changed mine anyway. Took about 1 week to get the duplicate with the new address back.
  16. I wear my seatbelt every time I get in a vehicle. That being said, if you do not want to wear one , I don't have a problem with it. I worked as a police officer for a couple of years about 40 years ago. I believe if we had seat belt laws back then, I would have probably ignored most violations. I feel today the seatbelt violation is often used simply as probable cause to stop a car for which you really have no probable cause. Something about that vehicle just doesn't look right. You stop him for a seatbelt violation and then look for something else.
  17. You are correct. It is not a question of "if" but a question of "when".
  18. No seemed to be too concerned. They were released on their own recognizance. If I had done it, My bail would be one million dollars.
  19. SG Ammo. Good prices with quick shipping. I like their packaging. When I buy a case instead of just attaching a shipping label, they enclose the case in another box. Double the protection against UPS breaking it open in shipment.
  20. You are correct. It is not a question of if it will happen but rather when it will happen.
  21. They also know that a significant number of people will never get around to sending in the rebate. I bet we would be surprised at the percentage. If 25% don't take the rebate that would be a lot of money.
  22. I just got 5 boxes of the .22 at Academy Sports in Knoxville for $49.99 each. Price on the pallet says $69.99 but it rings up $49.99. After rebate $29.95. That's what I was giving for it 45 years ago.
  23. This is probably in the ballpark. I built a new 2000 sq ft house with a 10/12 pitch and dimensional shingles. It ran right at $8,000. It was a steep roof to work on but they had no old shingles to take off. Around here you can figure $60 to $75 per square to put the shingles on plus the cost of materials and the cost to remove the old one.
  24. And for a lot longer term than 2 years 9 months.
