As I've been saying, people need to determine who they are going to trust for their medical advice (such as their doctor) and then weigh that heavily against all of the other noise being made about COVID-19.
My doctor and I caught up with each other on the subject last week and he recommended that enough time had elapsed for me since I actually had COVID-19 back in February, and now, for me to give strong consideration to one of the available vaccines. His position was that the mRNA ones are most effective against the delta variant for someone who's never had COVID before, but that for me the Johnson & Johnson one would be fine. It would effectively be a booster for my existing natural antibodies.
I got jabbed with a needle this afternoon.
So far, no superpowers have manifested but I am hoping at least that the microchip the government surely implanted in me will allow for wireless charging. It burned like a mother when the nurse pushed the vaccine in, so I can only logically assume that means the 5G signals were flooding into my bloodstream.
If I turn into a zombie, promise me you guys will aim for the head and not be cruel and shoot me in the .
When that chip gets into a blood vessel just under the skin in your arm it looks just like a mole burrowing across the front yard.

We got real financial problems coming to us all soon, not just inflation. It is funny how the gullible are believing the ‘transitory’ bs. I can’t believe they even tried to sell that to the people.
I fear you may be correct.

So are you saying we should just ignore the inflation numbers.
Just don't look at it and it will go away. LOL

Try buying a new truck. I went to my local Ford dealer last week. I was informed that they were selling all new vehicles at MSRP and there was no negotiating the price.

If I were still young and had a mortgage I might consider it less of a problem. I could pay back borrowed money with money that is now worth less than it was when I borrowed it. Unfortunately I am now 70 and living off my savings which are becoming worth less each day. The bank is paying me 1/2 of one percent interest and inflation is going to eat away 10 percent of my savings each year. I am a bit concerned.

I just checked their website and it shows them out of stock right now, but keep checking, they have been getting them back in every few days.

Hmmm... I will check that out! That's a great price, if they have one in Knoxville.
I got mine in Knoxville. If they don't have one in Knoxville, you can buy it online and they will ship it to the Knoxville store free.

Academy Sports has been having the Mossberg 88 Security lately for $199. That is the best buy in a defense shotgun that I have seen. I have a Mossberg 590 and a Remington 870 both but bought a Maverick anyway at that price.

If anyone ever sells it to a pawn shop or gun dealer it will be recovered. I had a gun shop 8 years ago. A customer had me do an FFL transfer on an over under shotgun he was buying from out of state. When I ran the background check TICS informed me that the gun was stolen and the police department was on the way to confiscate it. The Tennessee background check system recovers a lot of stolen firearms.

I bought 400 rounds from Academy this morning. Luckily the lot numbers do not match any on the recall list.

My neighbor has electric driveway gates. UPS and FedEx just leave his packages on the ground outside his gate. So far no problems with theft. They do get rained on occasionally. I would think some type of lockable drop box would be ideal.

I have a Maverick 88 defense and a 590. I like the Model 88 just about as well as the 590. And the Maverick 88 cost half as much. Academy gets the Maverick 88 Defense model in fairly often for about $199.

I sold one the other day on Gun Owners Club. I have used it several times in the past with good results but it seems most things for sale on there are in West Tennessee. You have to register to see the pictures but it is free.

I had an FFL 8 years ago. I had TICS turn one guy down who was using a Tennessee Handgun Permit as his ID to make the purchase.

I decided to have a new house built on the lake in Lenoir City. It was a constant stress headache for a year while building and ran 20% over budget. If I had it to do over I would buy one already built. Good luck and I hope your build goes smoother than mine did.

Of course, legislature changes could quickly and easily change all of this. If you "grandfather in" at $200.00 and then my costs go up to $100.00 annually because of changes, then you win.
Or worse yet, some new administration could do away with handgun permitting and implement a rule that as all permits expire none of them will be renewed.

Do the buckets have $2,000 in each of them?
No those would be 5 gallon buckets. They are only passing out 1 gallon buckets.

Everyone was getting upset about the millions that were given to other countries. I couldn't even bring myself to get mad about that. When we're talking about trillions then a few million is nothing. It really doesn't matter anymore.
There is some truth to that. This country is like the Titantic. We have already hit the iceberg. The Republicans are handing out buckets to bail out the water. The Democrats are drilling more holes in the hull of the ship to let the water run back out. Either way I fear we are going to go down.

As for the rebar posts: drive them into the ground with a hammer. Posts are still there, no longer dangerous to clumsy kids ...
Actually surveyors have plastic caps that they hammer down over the end of the rebar. Makes the end about 2 inches wide and a lot safer for kids.

Hmmmm. So, I'll play Devils advocate again (at the risk of making even more folks hate me, the thought exercise should prove evocative):
You move into a new home and because a pre-existing condition doesn't comport with your sense of safety, you feel within your rights to remove someone elses property from their domiciled residence?
Wow. I don't mean to be a ____, but you sound just like a gun-grabbbing Karen to me right there.
Seriously, not saying this to roust emotions or cause trouble, I understand the desire to protect ones kin... got 3, but I never felt the right to impose myself on someone else. I might go over to their house to explain my position and ask if something can be done. Hey there neighbor, we just moved in and... what say we plant a couple bushes instead, I'll split the cost with you, buy a cold 6 pack, we'll do it together next Saturday?
I installed a vinyl fence in my first home to keep my toddlers safe. I didn't make my neighbors change their yards because of my situation?!?!?
Most people are reasonable when approached reasonably, and toddler safety is a pretty reasonable request IMO, especially when you're talking about one of those suburban neighborhoods with common property boundarys (my first home was)... But to think you're within your rights to alter my private property? Whoah there, we got us a problem here.
You don't want your kid getting hurt in my yard?
Keep 'em out of my yard.
Why is your childs safety my problem? Do I need to put a lock on my medicine cabinet b/c your kids a meth head? Why not just deny my access to a medicine because others get high off it?
I know, I should have to lock all of my guns up with trigger locks at all times and store the ammunition in a separate location because they might steal it and kill someone else with it!
Welcome to New Yawk.
LOL, guess that 'splains why I live in the middle of no where down a dead end street!
In all seriousness, I _do_ understand the point @gregintenn
tried making and fully understand @peejman
doing anything and everything to protect his child(ren)... I'm really not this giant A-hole thinking up ways to hurt and maim wayward neighborhood children, honest... but to my way of thinking, that way of thinking, is exactly how gun control laws get passed. I don't mean to anger anyone or ruffle feathers, rather provoke them to stop and think. I find debates interesting and hope it can continue, even if I'm taking the unpopular sideI have a long property line that goes over a hill. I could not see from one end to the other. I had a surveyor mark the line in a couple of places and drove in two steel posts to mark where I should mow to. After about a year my two posts disappeared. I got it surveyed again and this time I put two 8 ft pieces of telephone pole 4 feet in the ground with concrete. They have been there several years now. If my neighbor had come to me and asked me nicely to remove the steel posts, I would have. If I was sure he was the one that pulled them up without asking, I would put up a barbed wire fence along the property line. Asking before doing anything to another persons property goes a long way.

It's worth it for the aggravation elimination alone.....
This. I got the lifetime at age 67. Moneywise it did not make sense but aggravation wise it sure did.

I have no problem with a small fee to post an ad. But charging to buy is ridiculous. I won't do it. There;s a rifle on there now that I'd like to ask the seller a few questions about. Looks like that ain't gonna happen.
I ran into the same problem last night. Saw a S&W Model 617 .22lr revolver for $500. When I tried to contact the seller I was notified that I would have to upgrade my membership. I really wanted the gun but the buyer did not provide a phone number or email address.

Ok, Let me tell you about a funny police chase. About 40 years ago I was running radar on a state highway. The speed limit was 40. An old Pontiac drove past me at 92. I chased it for about 5 miles but his car was faster than mine and when I got to 120 he was still pulling away from me. I was about to call off the chase when I saw his tail lights about a mile ahead pull off the side of the highway. When I got there he was out of his car and sitting on the trunk of the car. I pulled in and got out thinking that this looked like a set up keeping my hand on my revolver and looking all around. Why else would someone run from you for 5 miles then stop when he was clearly getting away? As I walked up to his car, he said to me " I'd have got away if I hadn't run out of gas, wouldn't I?". I replied yes you would have, Now get off the car and place your hands on top of it.

Firing guns after dusk in wilson county
in General Chat
Posted
My son in law was a county deputy for awhile. He said people shooting after dark or shooting without an adequate back stop can be charged with Reckless Endangerment.
