  1. I just bought a new Maverick truck and paid $1100 extra to get a straight gasoline engine instead of a hybrid. I am too old to be the one experimenting with new technology. I don't even carry a smart phone, I'll just finish out what time I have left living in the past.

The TGO people will always come through. Pretty good bunch of people here.

  3. I moved from McMinn County 4 years ago. I belonged to Chilhowee Rod and Gun Club in Athens. After moving to Lenoir City I am amazed at the lack of places to sight in a rifle scope. I would like to join the Oak Ridge Sportsmans  Club but need a sponsor in order to join. Would someone on TGO who is a member be willing to sponser me to join. Thank you.

I wonder if I ran the correct size tap (6-32) up through the hole from the bottom, would it turn the broken piece out of the channel, or would I butcher the threads?

Twisting the tap clockwise from the bottom of the slide would rotate the piece counterclockwise if viewed from the top.  In essence, unscrewing it.  But that assumes that once the tap made contact with the piece lodged in the channel, it would bite into it and begin twisting it rather than just butting up against it like a jam-nut.

    Hmm.

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. If you screw the slide up it will be your problem. If S&W can not get it out they will put a new slide on the gun. Do it right and send it back even if you have to wait a couple of months.

  5. Brand New Mossberg 12 Gauge Persuader Shotgun. 20 inch 8 shot. Has Bead Sight, Heatshield, Bayonet Lug, Sling Attachments, and comes with a factory pistol grip still sealed up in the bag. Comes with the factory box and everything it came with from the factory. I ordered this gun new about a year ago and tucked it away and forgot about it. Never fired. Only reason for selling is because I have 3 NIB riot guns and thought I probably don't need that many. Located in Lenoir City. $525

  6. They chewed into the plastic fuel tank on a new John Deere tractor I had stored in the barn a few years ago. I now keep rat bait out in the shed at all times.

About 8 years ago I bought a new pontoon boat in November. I stored it under the boat house on a lift above the water. I put a cover on it to keep it clean over the winter. When I took the cover off in the spring there were two bushel baskets full of foam rubber in the floor. They had chewed a hole in the cover and hollowed out a winter den in my seats.

  7. The important thing is not what you see but what I have learned. I never bought a benefactor membership because I thought I was too old to learn to post a picture in the classifieds section. Now I know I can do it. Things are looking up.

I kinda like it. But it does make me sad.

Christmas car commercials in general just make me shake my head. Do you or anybody you know ever really give or receive a car for Christmas? The whole idea is ludicrous to me.

Actually I just bought my 49 year old daughter a new Bright Red Kia Soul for Christmas. Since she is an only child and will inherit what little I have, I decided to give her part of it now so I can watch her enjoy it. Of course I also bought myself a new Ford Maverick truck while I was at it. No need to leave any money behind.

  9. I ordered a new Ford Maverick truck a couple of months ago. It is in transit and should be here next week. I could have ordered it in a hybrid that gets 42 MPG. I paid $1,100.00 extra to get it with a standard gasoline engine instead of the hybrid. I expect that one day electric automobiles will be the norm but at 70 years of age, I doubt that I will be here to see that day. I think electric cars are still very much in the experimental stage and I will let someone else do the experimenting.

  10. Go online and look up Chilhowee Rod and Gun Club in Athens, tn. They have great facilities and are very reasonably priced. I was a member there until I moved to Lenoir City. They have meetings once a month. Go to a meeting and apply at the meeting.

  11. I posted a gun on there a few days ago. When you log in and go to publish the ad it will let you list a few each month free. Like you I was a bit concerned about the $2.99 charge but it did not ask me for any info or credit card information. I believe it is still free for occasional listings just more complicated. I just went over there. Went to top of page and hit PUBLISH button and it took me right to the listing page. Try it. I think it is working.

Not sure what else to do with somebody like her. Not shoot on your own property? She already called the law.

I gotta be clear here. If somebody tries to force me to stop legal activities on my property, and calls in folks with guns, my Trump personality will come out right now. I hate conflict, but will fight every time when somebody tries to walk on me. I don't know what else Karen can try to do. I already don't like her enough to want to hang out with her.

Here's you something to think about. Trump had great policies and if he could have controlled his Trump personality just a little bit better, he would still be president.

I really believe if I were this woman's neighbor we could get along. I believe I could shoot on my property without pissing her off. The problem with people today is everyone is so defensive that they can not see the other person's side. It is always better to try and work with your neighbors than fight with them. I've had bad neighbors and I've had great neighbors. If you want a great neighbor, be a great neighbor. In the end it is worth the extra effort.

I would have dumped a couple of mags while the cop was there, so Karen got the point once and for all.

That would have been the start of a great relationship with your neighbor for the next 20 years.

  14. A few years ago I had a 35 acre farm that I used for a shooting range on occasion. First thing I did was go knock on the door of the elderly widow who lived next door. I explained to her that I would be shooting at times and that I would call her before hand to make sure she did not have anything going on that my noise might interrupt. I also assured her I would have a proper backstop and would never be shooting in the direction of her house. We got along great. I had no legal requirement to clear it with her but a little courtesy goes a long way towards having good neighbors.
