In the 1980s, I was active in shooting along with LEOs in my town. I purchased a Colt Trooper from an Officer who was retiring. I guess my inventory is quite outdated but to my eyes, they are beautiful. Although not shown, I added ergonomic competition grips which helped my scores significantly. This is my wife's favorite firearm at the range.

I enjoyed reading all of the posts of underappreciated handguns and thought I should post a photo of my own. Almost 20 years carrying this Mauser HSc .380ACP. I stopped carrying it when I found out how valuable it now was to the collecting world. An odd looking tool with old world charm. It still shoots small groups at combat distances, but I've been keeping it lovingly cared for and locked away. Newer tech now decorates my waistband holster (Ruger LC9).

Are there any ranges that shoot CMP/DCM competitions in Eastern Tennessee? I used to shoot this course routinely when I was younger. I'd love to try my hand at it again, IF there are any in the general area. Please let me know, if any exist/ Thanks in advance for your time and reply.

Wow, I thanks everyone who replied to my post. Great info! I believe I have a better handle on what to do. I believe I'll put together some light load in 9mm (since I have a LOT of brass and bullets not) and give them a try at the range. Thanks Again!

I see a lot of folk in town, open carrying huge Glocks, Sigs, and Springfield Armory cannons. There is something definitely special to carry the sleek Walther PPK tight against your waistband. However @Moped, with your choice of .32ACP, you'll never have to complain about punishing recoil, or worry about where the high power, high velocity round goes after it passes thru your bad guy. .32 still has an impressive bite and noise.

I recently bought a collection of handguns and rifles from a widowed friend. Along with the guns, I bought the reloading equipment, brass and supplies. I reloaded shotgun rounds for years, but pistol and rifle round reloading is a bit new to me. The lot contained a half dozen bottles and cans of half used and unopened container of gunpowder/propellant. ?Is there any "safe" way I can test the contents of the open containers? The net suggested if it smells like 'vinegar' it is bad. (none do). I'm hoping for some suggestions and guidance, while I complete my new member 10 message madate. My apologies if this subject has been covered before. Thanks in advance.

When going to the range to 'exercise' my .44 mag Redhawk, I've been using a microfiber cloth filled gun case for my Ruger Redhawk. I'd like to upgrade to a fitted leather holster for this beautiful handgun. I'd appreciate suggestions on where to find a source that can provide a quality leather holster for this gun. Thanks in advance for your help!

I anchored my gun safe into my garage steel expansion anchors. However, before I dropped the box on the anchors, I used 2 layers of poly cut from a plastic gallon contains to keep the metal feet from resting on the concrete. I used an cleaned old clorox jug, but the pieces an inch bigger than the feet and bolted them down. Several years in place and no rust. For the interior, I open the safe once a month and air the unit out with an electric space heater and keep a small desiccator tub which I refill every month as needed. This seems to have kept the fine Tennessee humidity from wanting to rust up my investments. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I understand the logic to using what the local LEOs use. However, Prosecutors have been successful convicting self defense victims because hollow points and other expanding rounds were used. The Anti Gun DAs sway the jury by convincing them that the bullets were meant to "kill and maim" and painted the victim as a blood thirsty killer instead of the victim. Anti 2nd Amendment states suck! I figure a few good FMJ rounds will do the trick without giving the Anti Gun DAs any fuel for their jury manipulation. I thank God every morning for allowing me to settle down here in eastern Tennessee / America.

It appears this forum is a bit shy of comments for 2023, so I'll jump in and be the first (I think). I'm new to handgun and pistol reloading, but have been reloading skeet 12g for years. Instead of going to the web and buying from some corporation, I'd rather buy from local dealers in the East Tennessee and build some long term relationships.. I live in Greeene county. Can some of you folk provide me with current vendors in the East Tenn area, or even good Tenn shooter websites. Thanks in advance for your taking the time to read and reply.
