  1. I think the greasy haired liar is Brian. A fewYears ago, he sold me hard on a particular 1911. A year later, he claimed that pistol was crap and that they'd never sell the line. He offered $150 in trade. I politely declined and reminded him that he had personally sold me the 1911. He walked away. I never stepped foot back in there. Never will.
  2. Not going to comment about shooting hogs from an airplane.... As far as .308 semi autos go, I have a socom 16 and FNAR. The socom is a lot of fun and looks great in a GI issue wood stock. Optics are quite tough. I tried a Scout scope from my Ruger GSR, but It didn't feel correct. The FNAR is ugly, but so accurate and smooth. Mags are expensive and can be difficult to locate.
  3. No joke. My childhood ruger m77 .25/06 mk1 shoots sub moa groups wth federal ammo. Its killed more than 100 deer, none have taken a singles step. My wife's first kill was almost 300!yards with same result . Ive had Zero misses. Most kills were from a low $$ tasco scope with Japanese optics. My dads m700 .308 never came close in accuracy. I now own a m77 mk1 in .2506, a m77/22, a m77. Mk2 in 7mm mag and a m77 gunsite in .308. They are all very good, but .25/06 is awesome.
  4. I went with a pawn shop wing master 870. I have almost $500 into it . I'd now recommend an 870 express home defense with a 3 shot extension. It's a less expensive and easier route to a similar firearm. That said, I am a huge fan of today's autos with pistol grip and ghost ring sights. Lots of old options right now.
  5. Guys, I want to add 1000 rounds of 12 gauge to my war chest. What's the least expensive option. Bird shot is fine. I just need cheapest delivered option. Ammo is likely going to be used for range time enjoyment.
  6. Woodpeckers are protected. Atleast that's what the LEO visited my house told me.
  7. Also, look at overstock.com. They have a 10% off coupon, plus prices are lower on some scopes. I picked up an eotech 512 for less than $350 shipped.
  8. Guys, I checked academy and gande mountain earlier, but there selection on reflex was low pricepoint stuff. I did ot see any scout scopes, will check coal creek later today. FYI, I picked up an eotech 512 from overstock for a great price. Thanks for lead and coupon code. . Still looking f
  9. Guys, I need to Fit three long guns (SA Socom, AR, and Ruger Scout GSR ) with optics. Anyone know of a local shop that sells quality reflex and scout optics? Thx, mark
  10. As a scout leader, the correct answers the 10 essentials.
  11. All done. The drill bit worked perfectly. The as tube was awful. I ended up removing front sight rather than trying to move from block.
  12. Thanks for tips. Drill bit idea is very good.
  13. Quick post: anyone know what size punch needed for AR15 gas block? I am needing to convert upper from carry handle to flat top upper. I plan to swap, but not sure of roll pin size.
  14. Well, the wood pics did me in. I picked up a stock from east TN patriot. Love the look.
  15. I picked up a M77 Gunsite today. Super nice rifle.

    nylon 66

I might be making this up, but I see, to recall that DuPont owned Remington in the day. Nylon 66 was one of their hot products. The rifle was one do their projects to demo the material.

I love mine. I paid $25 at a garage sale 32 years ago. Its a lot of fun. Just passed down the 66 an ar-7 to my oldest boys.
  20. You don't want one. Atl least until I get one. It's hard enough finding one in this state already. Seriously, I have never held or seen one I person, but I am definitely going to purchas one. I think they are best looking scout rifle to date.
  21. Guys, he is talking less than 600. I have owned a couple of DPMS over the years. The finish wasn't as smooth ar my other ARs, but they performed perfectly.
  22. Years ago the rule was get an AR that was A B C or D. Armalite, bush, aster, colt or DPMS. I recommend a DPMS at any price less than 800.
  23. Great. Looks great. That pic helped a lot. Issue site a skinner express or standard. It looks slightly longer than someof the others I have seen. Thanks again for the pic, I think you guys have pointed me inthe right direction.
  24. I've not seen a skinner in person,so can I ask a few questions. Can I retain factory front site. Ate they finished nicely? Do they look ok when mounted?
  25. Thanks for leads. After looking, i thinki want something that uses existing holes in top of receiver. Also, I don't want to changeout front sight. Xs looks good, but am I reading correctly thatbid have to replace front blade together height correct .
