Guys, I would like to add the an EOtech or bushnell holosight to an AK (AMD65). Also, I am considering the same for an M4-A2 clone A2 setup to co-witness carryhandle sights. Do any of you have any suggestions on mounts or feedback on viability. Thanks,

I like this feature. I don't want to worry about finding a switch. Lasers do have a place. They are indispensable in situations where your line of sight is compromised. For example, a bad guy attempts a car jack by entering vehicle via rear passenger side door. For most right hand, right eye dominant shooters this is going to be a "hail mary" shot. With a laser, this is a much easier weak hand "sight on target" scenario.

I was looking at these too. My dad gave me CT laser quard instead. Aside from holster fitment issues, I now prefer this setup over lasermax and lasergrip. The ergos jsut feel better to me.

i have 3 taurus handguns. one is a pt1911. one is a pt99. one is a model 605. the pt1911 is black. the others are stainless steel. i hold them sometimes and they are nice. i used to be able to speak spanish, but i seem to forgotten all the words these days. i still think pt is pistola taurus. thats what i think it said on my pt99 sheets. i don;t know nothing about all of this other talking that you guys are talking about. it sees like there's lots of other discussions about other things that taurus.

Guys, Thanks for suggests, plans and even offers to provide a rack. Its really a great community here. I think I am leaning towards building the rack. We're going to be working on pinewood derby cars for new few weeks, so this project would tie in well.

Really? I did not know. I was thinking that I had to use an FFL on return.

Jeremy, I missed your thread. I like yout PT1911 a lot. I want to do something similar, but hopefully spend a little less. Mark

Can someone PM me the details as well?

No worries. I've not compared heat. I have fired all three calibers (7.62, 5.56 and 5.45) in folding stock formats. My amd65 seemed to be the hottest, but it has a very short barrel and no metal forearm. It also seems to have worst muzzle flash. Maybe some other gusy can give you a less subjective opinion.

Actually, I was recently looking at the above model for $599. I think JGsales has it priced at $699 now. They are a bit more expensive that the 7.62, but cheaper than other .223 options.

Guys, A couple of years ago, I picked up a NIB Taurus PT1911 from The Rabbi. Believe it or not, I've never fired the pistol. I was a bit unhappy of the finish, so I planned trade for SS or refinish. All that said, I'm leaning toward refinishing. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably priced solution? I'd prefer something local to avoid FFL shipping. Thanks, Mark

I might suggest an AK variant. Specifically, I like the galil.

FYI, I sorted through the same conundrum. I absolutely love the m1a, but I hate the optics options. If you plan to scope the rifle, I'd suggest the FNAR. I ended up with a mini-30 and an FNAR for about the same $$ as an m1a. If you decide on th FNAR, look up Joe at Hero. His team set me up right on mine.

Guys, I want an old school gun rack for my boys to display their BB guns. Nothing fancy needed. Any leads on where to find? Thanks, Mark

The Browning is special piece. It might be the finest .22LR autoloader made.

Carrying a .32 for self-defense
wareagle replied to mousegunner's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I carry a .32acp Guardian every day. I use a Desantis pocket holster. -
I need a holster for a Glock 26 w/ Crimson Trace laserguard. I'm not a huge fan of IWB. Any suggestions??

No kidding... I am OK with the pay to play. I do it on several other boards. Most of the "memberships" are lifetime. For my case, I cannot justify the annual dues. I do try to support the authorized TGO vendors, so I feel I'm doing my part. Just my 2 cents....

The only item of interest here would be a Fenix PD20.

I like my mini-30 a lot. Reliable mags are easy to find these days. You can get 10 round promags for less than $20. Ruger factory 20rnd are less than $30. The AR, SKS and AK guys hate the mini for some reason. The AR guys complain about accuracy (mine is scoped with a hogue overmold stock and shoots 3" MOA with russian ammo). The SKS guys complain about cost (SKS used to be $89 and minis were $450, today there's only anbout $100-150 diff). AK guys seem to be worried about cheap hicap mags and the end of the world (mini mags aren't cheap but they are available. When SHTF, I'd rather have a mini, than not). As you can tell, I am a mini fan. I was not a fan when I picked one up, but I am now. The combination of price, quality of manuf, ergos, durability and reliability make it a winner.

Yep, I think I've got it down to step where it will "fly apart" if I go further.

Guys, I was digging through my crate of gun related garage sale items, and found a "tune up" kit that I forgot to install. Does anyone have any experience in replacing the striker spring on a Ruger M77 mkII? It looks like the bolt assembly is under pressure, so I don't wont to kill myself on this one.

My mini-30 eats steel case with no issues. I think the "russian ammo problem" comes from internet hype. There are 2 issues that I've repeatedy heard. First issue is that the owners manual warns against using ammo that is not SAAMI spec'd. Rumor i that the mini was spec'd different from the russian ammo. Second, Ruger will not sell replacement firing pins. There is some hype that the minis cannot handle the russian ammo without bending a firing pin. IN the end, mini's are reliable, fun to shoot and durable. Just find a source of good magazines and clean ammo.
