  1. So im thinking I want something thats reasonably accurate to 500yds or so for punching paper....

Debatin between the $579.00 PSL 54c (ammo is relatively cheap and it comes with a useable scope).

    or

FNAR .308 Heavy Barrel $1350 (match ammo much easier to find and probably more reliable, more accurate, but twice as much money)

Thoughts, opinions? Any other semi-auto suggestions appreciated (not really wanting a bolt gun atm)

    Thanks!

Get the FNAR. It's very slick. I think you can get a light barrel for about $1000. The heavy barrel is nice, but it's not very well balanced, especially with a bipod. I would high recommend buying the light barrel and tossing the extra $$ into mags, ammo and optics.

  2. wow, that list is SERIOUSLY flawed.

where is the Hummer H1, Toyota FJ, Chevy Blazer, Jeep CJ5, Ford Bronco, International Scout, Land Rover, Willys, Chevy Suburban, etc.

Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4, Lexus, Subaru(not a SUV) do NOT belong on that list

I think you're list is seriously flawed as well. Blazers, Jeeps, ROvers and Burbs are not typically thought to be reliable. They seem to "die" frequently. Hummer H1s are a disaster. Scouts, FJ, CJ and Willys are not too easy to find. If you do, the are rust buckets and parts aren;t cheap.

Now here's the list of top 10 never die vehicles were manufactured within the last 15 years:

    1997 Land Cruiser

    2003 Land Cruiser

    2004 Land Cruiser

    1996 Land Cruiser

    2002 Land Cruiser

    2001 Land Cruiser

    2000 Land Cruiser

    1998 Land Cruiser

    1995 Land Cruiser

    1999 Land Cruiser

    BTW, Here's my 2000 Land Cruiser :hyper:4319594777_ccf9b6fe64_b.jpg

  3. Does the longer sight radius really make it better than a 17? I'm just asking because I have a 19 and 26 and I've thought about getting a 17 for a range/HD/maybe occasional backwoods carry gun. Since it wouldn't really be for carry, would you recommend a 34 instead?

I cut out the middle men and went with a 26 and 34. I'm really happy with my decision. The g34 is a great range piece and the 26 is a great carry piece.

  4. Nice pistol. I really like the change in grips. I've had a SS PT99 for atleast 15 years. I can honestly say that it's never misfired. Also, its my most accurate 5 incher. Its more accurate than my Vaquero, FM hi-power, PT1911 or g34.

  5. :D

  6. I normally carry a NAA Guardian .32acp, Fenix PD20, Kershaw Leek, Surefire EWP-01 pen, Tag Heuer Link Automatic Chronograph, Blackberry Curve and a wallet.

I will say that I loved the weight of the leek, but I've not been impressed with the durability of the blade. MIne is the black teflon serrated model. I've messed up the teeth a bit through casual use. The casing is also missing a bit of metal from carry. I'm surprised since my Beretta Airlight and CRKT M-18 have been carried for much longer and display much less wear.

  7. Several years ago, I think I paid $250 for .45 Llama 1911 style. I was able to get my money out of it, but it took a while.

A lot of the budget 1911 crowd look for something that has ability to swap in aftermarket 1911 parts. The llama has a few departures that make 1911 parts hit and miss. I seem to recall that the llama has an external ejector.

Also, there were a couple of recalls on the XIA and XIB models for accidental discharge issues. Finally, on the grip side, firestorm 1911 grips will often fit. I had a 1911 firestorm "firestar" that was made it spain. I was able to swap its grips to the Llama. I did a quick search on llama firestorm and found this link.

    Llama / Firestorm

As far as shooters go, both the the firestorm and llama were very nice. IN fact, I hate that I sold them.
