  1. Hey...I have one of those too. With some really sticky tires there isn't much around that will touch it on a curvy road. It is one of the most forgiving and easy to drive vehicles made.

Cool! Given the very small production run, it's fairly rare to bump into another local owner.

Miatas are super in the curves, but the MSMs boost and suspensions make the car amazing. This is one of my favorite quotes from a corvette forum discussing their upcoming dragon event.

"Fun time, but if you see the Miata cars, they are incredible. Hard to believe but they will eat you up."

    Zoom-Zoom :)

PS: are you coming to the gap in late July?

  2. FYI, My father in law, WWII Guadalcal vet w/ 40 years of Marine and Navy service, had a really rough time with slide on his Browning BDA. We had to trade for an S&W .38. Until he passed, he was tough as nails and took care of business. He just could not handle an auto, except a Garand.

  3. Guys,

Does anyone have any leads for a shop in Knoxville area that can build sliders and stuff for my land cruiser?

Basically, I need a set of 71" sliders out of 2x3" rectangle tube with 1.75 DOM kickouts.

Also, I need a 3/16" skid that goes from front A-arms to center diff.

Finally, I need a rear bumper with tire swing out. I'd like it to be similar in design to this.

  4. Guys,

I agree with OS. There is and was no such thing as a black panther.

Back when i was a kid growing up in AL/FL panhandle area. There was constant talk of black panthers. Heck, my school mascot was a black panther at one time. Live black panthers would show up in carnivals and such. In reality, they were all black leopards. There's truly no such thing as a black panther

That said, I've seen some strange things that most would doubt. I've seen a cougar while hunting in remote river plains along the Alabama river, a black bear walking down the sugar white beaches in Panama Ciity, FL, and another black bear standing in the interstate near the I40/75 split in knoxville.

    :D :D :)

  5. Wow, couldn't be just a normal extinct Eastern Cougar, but has to be a black one, that never existed here to begin with.

That's sort of like claiming to have seen an albino BigFoot instead of just a normal BigFoot. ;)

this thread is useless without the story behind it ...

what time of day? where in the smokies? why did you go out back ... got an out house back there? give us some deets!

More importantly...Were you under the influence of alcohol or drugs, sleep deprived, dehydrated. :)

Seriously, could it have been a dog or something else?

  6. I just purchased a Miata. Is it my dream car? No. But it makes for a pretty good "poor while in college car" and is very rewarding to drive. Though this one will probably stay close to stock, I am planning on building a Lotus Seven based replica from the ground up (based on Miata parts) after I graduate and get established.

To the post above about a miata as a college car, the miata's have a very buildable setup. With very minot mods, I think I'm hitting about 200HP at the wheels with 10PSI. Several hundred $$ would get me to $250. A couple of thousand would be 300hp. Needless to say, you don't need a lot of HP or $ to make these things super quick. I think I've surprised a few camaros, mustangs and Z's....:(

Here's a dragon shot from last Sa.

    Here's the land cruiser:

It needs a rear bumper with swing away tire carrier. DRM won't build me one for free, so let me know if you have any sources in Knoxville area.

  7. Guys,

I plan to pickup a base model 10/22. I hear that there are different levels of quality depending on vintage and supply channel. What should I be looking for? Any serial# range or physical attributes to consider? Forearm band, plastic trigger group.....?

    Thanks much,

  8. David, While your at it....How about building me a rear bumper for my 100 series? It need to look like the 4×4 Labs w/ tire swing-out. I'll swing by and pick it up in a couple of weeks. :D BTW, looking forward to watching the build. Are you posting updates on tor or pirate??
