  1. All hail the wisdom of Grayfox54! I can’t help but think of every bit of tech that I use that is biometric integrated that when I actually use it outside of perfect household like conditions (hiking, in the rain, sweaty/dirty hands, etc) — it all just fails & I have to stop what I’m doing to feed it my time and often great lengths to achieve function. Can anyone tell me how that tech can safely translate in a personal survival or self-defense situation?
  2. This has been a very intriguing thread to me as a Browning hi-power is one of the only unchecked boxes in my collection. Overall, I gotta go with hipower on this one and hold out for the SA35. Girsan didn’t do a bad job on this one, but I’m getting to be a real gun snob with age I guess. Refinements just kind of “speak to me” as opposed to when I was younger & excited by everything as a project.
  3. Snaveba, have you seen this Frankensteined blasphemy in the wild yet? Lever-action, 9mm, mag-fed, fluted barreled, muzzle braked, hot mess. It has more identity issues than a Gen Z-er in a trans crisis worshipping social media while dressing for the next “mostly peaceful” protest. The manufacturer (POF-USA) even wants 2k for this abomination.
  4. Well aren’t things just getting special out there! I want to say more. At this point I’m actually percolating & frothing at the mouth a bit. Sometimes there is just not enough asterisks and redactions available for me to express myself. Remember the 1A? Wasn’t the 2A supposed to help protect even that to a degree? They manufacture division for personal gain. They take away face to face fellowship & sharing. They lock us behind screens to have non-private conversations where they can further control any narrative, perception of truth, or true liberty. Anybody else tired of this yet?
  5. I completed multiple versions of SERE training as early as a teenager in the civil air patrol & blue beret program. I can make a fire from friction even in high humidity with my own inherent anger when in need. That said, I hate the egyptian bow drill style anywhere outside of the desert and I have a passionate love of flint and magnesium where at all possible. Fun fact, I can reclaim quite of bit of drinking water from my pee with a simple plastic wrapper & strong sunlight for pure distillation. It’s not fast though. That is in my opinion the real challenge of bushcraft/isolated survival. Things are very slow and you have to recalibrate your entire timeframe & expectations accordingly. Life is a mental game.
  6. Please forgive me if my memory fails to serve here, but didn’t Obama try this same s*it?? I specifically recall him trying to put us citizens into an international treaty that would have superseded our 2A rights. Krunchnik said it: TREASON. Of course being openly bought & paid for by our enemies-same charge, weaponizing our independent agencies of & overarching influence of different branches of our government-same charge, etc— but who’s counting? Is this perhaps the real problem?
  7. Please go easy on me if this is in the wrong section but “deals & steals” looked woefully out of date on posts. So I was in Knoxville Tactical picking up received goods today and saw a pallet of these! NATO overrun $3.99 !!! This has always been a favorite overall design and it is nicely updated to LED & high impact polymer. As a kid I would always scratch up the nice painted olive drab finish something terrible. Well that too is no longer a problem. Just wanted to share in case anyone else loves these like I do.
  8. Well today is a good day. Meet my new girl Siggy, she & I will likely be joined at the hip whenever I’m out and away from home now. Like a few others here, I think the days of pocket guns are getting behind us as our Country is changing and safety has always been paramount to me. God, Family, and Country are not bad words here and the Constitution is absolute where I come from. Siggy is fresh from Sig Sauer Custom Workshop and is a Beautiful young thing that’s warm to the touch with the Cocobolo grips and has a “fully adjustable trigger for pull weight, over-travel and a trigger shoe that is removeable and adjustable for length-of-pull”. It is my hope that once calibrated to my preferences that I can make her ring the gongs on my range as fast as a Ma Bell 1970’s phone. She does hold records the world over as the fastest firing handgun. This is the only firearm that I’ve ever purchased that came in a factory combination locked, velour lined hardcase with a collectible coin. I imagine in a deep dark factory somewhere there is a vending machine that only accepts these coins & spits out Sig accessories like a gumball machine. I never planned on buying a handgun that cost more than both of my stainless desert eagles combined, but also if I’m getting a new side piece- I don’t want to be the guy who goes out for hamburger with steak at home. I’ve got a delta point pro on the way that she’s already cut for of course and that should make a neat contrast dot to the factory green front fiber optic iron sight. Osprey global makes a nice compact rechargeable underbarrel green laser that they lifetime warranty, just like the Leupold Delta point for it, so I expect her to be around for the long haul. It’s times like this that I really do think happiness is a warm gun [Sig Sauer P226 X-FIVE CLASSIC]
  9. Just to be certain, I’ve placed a penny at the bottom of my ipad screen- can you make it move up the screen? We have to be sure.
  10. I’m with InertOrd13 on this- the console vaults look awesome AND their entire website line of products (which is vasty!) is 20% off this weekend! I just saw the code on the top banner of their site. Man, I’m thinking of their utility beyond securing my guns- as I nightfish for walleye & catfish and always worry about my nice Truck alone in the parking lot unattended at remote launch points.
  11. I own 8 houses, all built & maintained by myself with a mix of both styles. My primary residence, is a result of all that I had learned (and endured from failings). I have converted or am converting- as I continually add more rooms to the house: everything to concrete slab. I will use but a one room example to be atypically brief. Last year, a corner of my then waveless waterbed decided to penetrate the floor with a leg despite the floor being 2 layers of 3/4” treated plywood on 12” centered joists with multiple- really over built block supports. I also have a shower in that room that I built on it’s own isolated concrete slab. Thoroughly disgusted, I did my typical reaction to such things and cut out the floor and then the walls, converting them to treated 2x6 walls after getting a concrete pump truck to shoot in a 8-12” 4000 psi concrete slab. Never wanting to see deteriorating wood again (or deal with jacked up lumber prices) I then stoned BOTH the inside and outside of the walls, doubling the size of the bedroom in the process. The wife loves Game of Thrones, so I gave her a castle bedroom. Back to the slab as this may be of interest to you. 1- you can concrete anchor the walls down to a slab to make them tornado rated, 2- there are translucent acid concrete stains out there that will permanently make your slab look like any kind of marble or gemstone than you can imagine & the same companies make buff less, wipe-on waxes that make the floor look like deep crystal and super easy to clean/maintain. One last word on crawlspaces: they are the natural habitat of the brown recluse spider. There is no anti-venom to them and you can’t find a heat & air crew that doesn’t have severe scars from the bites. Who needs that? Lastly, with modern day PEX plumbing pipe, I have never encountered a burst pipe in a slab, that material is just incredible. I’ve converted my whole place to it. Best of luck.
  12. Probably, a wise decision for most people. This old link is the only copy of the video of said activity that I can lay hands on at the moment. Been through a lot of computers since then. But, if your curious… watch the video and pay attention to the speedometer when my front wheel finally comes down. https://youtu.be/oqJbWiCxUc0 (You actually get quite stable over 140 mph or so, the air tunnel becomes solid and sucks you low against the body- but still if you go off your machine- ya want a pair of titanium gloves if you prefer the use and personable ownership of ‘hands’).
  13. I couldn’t find a single bit of bad advice above. I am the 1%er that has gun safes in my houses, concrete bunker, private cave system, and forest caches. I enjoy redundancy in protecting my items as much as redundancy in the items themselves. Two of my favorite bottomline steps in corrosion protection under ALL of these settings is no actual ground/floor contact with safes and periodic “fuming” of arms with a protective aerosol form of CLR/protectant/inhibitor of choice. Obviously, I cover optic lenses during this process. Again, everything above is excellent- but these two analog, old school, non-power dependent steps have never failed me.
  14. “Ahm with you fellers”… Seriously amen to what Leroy said.
  15. Howdy Jason! We’re in the same neighborhood! I also have an extensive history in Arizona and the Sonoran desert. My wife is very supportive of my shooting and other hobbies but alas can’t participate do to her disabilities, but we do have a nice private range should you have problems finding a place. Welcome!
  16. I literally have $600 Titanium armored, reinforced leather gloves that are supposed to protect me from ludicrous levels of impact & unforeseeable drama. I have $350 reinforced leather rechargeable heated gloves that are supposed to provide insane abrasion protection. I have & actually use daily $5 goatskin gloves that fit my medium sized hands with fantastic comfort and as Leroy said- Dexterity. I’ve met Leroy and can tell you that he is the man when it comes down to his body of knowledge. No matter the glove, they are a sacrificial garment, an expendable commodity that you can’t design or price your way out of. (BTW, that’s my second set of titaniums-even that doesn’t outlast everything and $5 goatskins in medium on up are available at harbor freight -including the hardy brand ones in my photo).
  17. This photo represents my basic philosophy on having enough firearms when I was younger. Now in my fifties imagine the same philosophy only now I use a “tactical” trailer being pulled by my turbo diesel Willys jeep(Roxor) or my ATV. Note: I’ve both acclimated to my age and physical limitations, while additionally ever increasing the number of “tools” should they become necessary. Make a mental note: I have no offspring, find my grave after my passing to survive any conceivable disaster scenario
  18. For the love of God man, show your wife the youtube video “My 50 cal exploded”- by Kentucky Ballistics. After seeing this video, my wife immediately bought me my new Barrett M-82A & had me sell my single shot bolt action .50 -there are even sequels to that video. I’m not a slight built guy by any standard, but I don’t think that I would have survived such an incident. Semi-auto has a lot of built in protection against catastrophic drama like that. Go luck & please be safe shooting my favorite caliber. I know that I have an all day smile when I do 10 round mag dumps into my old bus & car targets
  19. BUMP! for final price drop & best possible deal!!
  20. BUMP- for final price drop & best possible deal!
  21. I’m with BJB on this one. I am a 1%er collector and own or have owned… let’s say more than my fair share of handguns. The Tactical version of Arex Rex Zero 1 has ALL the bases covered and in a side by side comparison it makes Sig look like a poorer clone of IT. At any price point, I couldn’t recommend any other Tactical 9mm higher.
  22. Bump for Price Drop!!
  23. BUMP FOR EXTREME PRICE DROP!!! Bring home the Bacon(or elk or whatever) for about 0.0 price per round.
  24. For the record, as useless as this may be considering I live in Knoxville- but if anyone near me or that travels near me buys this, I have a large new unused Saiga banana mag that I will happily give you to go with it. I would buy this myself if I didn’t just buy a Tavor T12 and Keltec 40 round bazooka size ksg. Dang it! Anyhoo, free hi-cap mag here for this great deal.
