  1. I've never even heard of this one until today. An interesting little side note to the Mosin saga. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YA7V-33DQ2k Jay
  2. I'll put a plug in for Broadside Firearms on Broadway in Knoxville. Shane has been there for a year and is one of the first people I met when I moved here in April. It's a small shop, a one man show, but he's growing and is good to deal with. Tell him Jay sent you and he'll charge you 5% more...
  3. The FEG seems like a good carry backup gun. Carry a lot and shoot a little. As a collector of sorts, however, it is still appealing. (as they ALL are, haha...) Jay
  4. Thanks, fellas. Anyone care to throw out a current value estimate for a CZ in "good" condition with one magazine? (Sorry, no pics to share just yet)
  5. I have a Hungarian FEG PA-63 and I've been thinking maybe I need a second handgun in the Makarov caliber. I've always liked the Polish Factory 11 stuff. They did good work, but recently discovered the CZ. I prefer the historic aspects and appearance of the P64 but the double stack CZ is a contender. Has anyone handled both and care to give opinions? Thanks. Jay
  6. I got 4 of these for in the house. Primarily, I wanted something that my wife could move by herself, if necessary. They also stack nicely. https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/reliance-aqua-tainer-water-container-4-gallon-or-7-gallon?p=WX2&i=713278 They live in the closet under the basement stairs and I fill/refill one every 3 months. Jay
  7. I've been thinking a .357 lever is my next conquest, to go with the 686. Thanks for all of the positive reinforcement! Jay
  8. Hello. Has this been sold yet? What would you say will need attention over the next 2 years? Does it consume any oil? Thanks. Jay
  9. Us old farts have it made. After the brutal end has come, we can stroll by with our tools and simply pick up the unopened cans lying next to the malnourished, deceased bodies of the young. We can leave notes in cursive that they won't understand..... The old saying, "Age and treachery will always overcome youth and vigor!" Jay
  10. I recently moved here. Knoxville Safe House sold me a safe and installed it. They did good work. I was in a time crunch so I didn't price shop at all, so do your own homework on cost. Jay
  11. If you have 20 or more pieces, check with Dennis Kroh at Empire Arms. He buys collections of milsurps and will travel to do it, if large enough. I have bought from him a few times and found him easy to deal with. Understand that your maximum income would be from selling them yourself, at the expense of some time and effort. Getting them unloaded quickly and/or all at once means another party will have to buy them at less than full value so they can also make a profit on the sale of them. If it were me, I'd put one or two up for sale myself and see how it went before taking the 20-40% reduction for a quick bulk sale. Good guns sell themselves. I'm new here but I my experience is that the people here or on any established gun/collector forum are more than happy to help people like yourself with info and resources. Scrutinize closely all of the private messages you are likely already receiving from individuals. Most will deal fairly with you, while a few would gladly use your lack of knowledge and experience to their own benefit. The prices that gnarlytoes posted all look good. Conditions and rare features can vary wildly, causing the broad spread on some values. Condolences for your loss. Jay
  12. Hello. I moved here in April from Austin, Texas. Getting used to having winter again after 20+ years. I enjoy mostly bolt action surplus rifles. Thanks for having me! Jay
