  1. I find this whole fiasco suspect. A good percentage of Tennesseans heat with natural gas or propane, while a smaller percentage burn wood. EVERYBODY uses electric air conditioning in the summer! Why have we not had problems in August?
  2. At least he ain’t banging his bodyguard…far as I know.
  3. Go by WalMart, or wherever, and pick up some cheap, 130 grain ammo. Remington Core-Loct was the gold standard. I’m not sure now. Get some mounts, rings, and the best lower power, variable scope your budget will allow. Mount it properly, sight it in, and kill deers!!!
  4. Might help if you tell us the chambering. I’m guessing 270?
  5. *State Law* If a person riding a motorcycle or motor driven cycle passes or meets another motorist riding a motorcycle or motor driven cycle on a public roadway, he or she shall wave with the left hand, finger pointed downward at a 45 degree angle.
  6. Turn your back to it.
  7. We have electricity, but a lot of folks up this way don’t this morning. Our electric company claims it to is due to a system overload. I’m still unsure how it’s going to work once we all have a couple of electric cars charging on top of what we normally use.
  8. Winter just showed up at my house!!! It looks angry!
  9. We added salt, pepper, garlic, and chopped onion. Right out of the can, cold, this is at least as good as any roast beef I’ve eaten. I will make more.
  10. LOL! Turns out my brother in law found it and hung it up there about 10 years ago. Mystery solved.
  11. While hunting today, my son and I found this buck deer skull wedged in a tree. It’s about 6’ off the ground. The side hung has 4 points on it, and has almost been chewed off by squirrels, mice, or something. The other side is already gone. It appears to have been there a while. We found no other bones around it.
  12. Wow! LOL. Our canner is way older than I am.
  13. Kennebec potatoes will keep in my basement long enough I can plant them the next year. Our ground here at the house is too hard and rocky to produce a very good crop of them. Most places will do fine, however. Potato bugs are a problem. They only chemical I found that would repel them to any degree was Thiodan, and it has since been banned.
  14. Welcome to TGO and Tennessee. Learn to chew tobacco and learn the definition of the word "yuins" and you'll make out just fine.
  15. Welcome to TGO. It is a good community, even though they allow me to stay.
  16. Welcome to TGO. Very nice area up there where you are.
  17. Welcome to TGO. Feel free to jump in and share your knowledge and stories!
  18. I hate to burst your bubble, but looking at the pics you provided leads me to believe the value of your rifle is that of a wall hanger decoration piece. It is a neat piece of history, but the condition seems to dictate that is just about it. I surely wouldn't attempt to fire it.
  19. We went with the pint jars as well.
  20. Me either…until today. I’ll let you know how it turned out.
  21. You're gonna be disappointed.
  22. My grandfather had a show ready, all original 1972 Chevy pickup with 100k miles, factory air, factory paint, factory everything…like friggin new!!! He was talking about selling it. I told him I’d buy it. He wouldn’t sell it to me as it was old and might not be reliable. He pulled it out by the road on Charlotte Pike where they lived with a for sale sign on it that had a price of $3500. He didn’t make it back to the house before somebody stopped and bought it! He later bought a 73 Chevy pickup in the same condition. Probably the only one left in the world that wasn’t rusted out. He later offered to sell it to me. I declined. I don’t think I ever successfully made him understand the difference.
  23. It’s as much a Christmas movie as any of the crap playing on the Hallmark channel.
  24. Yep. I’m not saying it isn’t local, but the salt is hauled in each year from out of state. All the salt bins I’m aware of are fenced and the gate locked when they are unoccupied.
