  1. When I was 10 years old, my father took me to the local Ace Hardware Store and ordered am H&R 58 Topper youth model with two barrels; a 30-30 Winchester and a 20 guage with a modified choke. I've killed several deer, squirrels, rabbits, doves, quail, crows, and I don't know what all else with it. I still own the gun, and occasionally still hunt with it. The 30-30 barrel will consistantly shoot 1" groups at 100 yards. The 20 guage barrel kicks like a rented mule. I wouldn't trade that gun for the world.
  2. I imagine the springs would lose their temper long before the strength of the steel became compromised.
  3. Irish/American Indian/??? I am a direct descendant of John and John Quincy Adams.
  4. The 1909 Argentine is the standard by which all others are judged. The early German 98s are nice as well.
  5. Try to find a used 17 or 18 Smith and Wesson. You won't be dissapointed!
  6. A few days ago I picked up a basketweave stamp. I kind of like it.
  7. Thanks for the advice.
  8. I usually have to go over it two or three times. On the second and third tries, I focus on the lighter areas. I also usually have some marbled looking areas. The leather sheen I put on top of it seems to hide some of the irregularities. I have a problem with black. It goes on even, but even after it's dry, it will turn your hands black when you handle it. The last black one I did, it was like I sprinkled graphite dust all over my workbench.
  9. Me too! It's a good place to meet and talk to likeminded individuals....gun nuts you might say.
  10. I'd list it in the classifieds really cheap and PM me right before you do it!
  11. Double stitching with two needles.
  12. For some reason, this one turned out two-toned. Oh well, I think it looks kinda cool.
  13. I can't wrap my head around using a cheap piece of made in China digital crap to meter something as important as gunpowder. I use a balance beam scale, probably made in China as well.
  14. A friend of mine built himself a gameroom in his basement and paneled the walls with old barn lumber. It looks great!
  15. Red Wing Belts: Full Grain Distressed Leather Belt 96511BRN I like the old Redwing belt from the boot store. They are pretty heavy, and they match my boots perfectly. Furthermore, they meet your less than $60 criteria.
  16. If you've got any specific questions, I'll be more than happy to share my limited knowledge on the subject with you. The JDLawhon link posted by 56FordGuy above is very informative, easy to follow, and accurate.
  17. Kinda reminds me of this one I took at Epcot Center last October. That was a very neat gift from your grandfather. I know I'd treasure it as I'm sure you do.
  18. I was thinking alcohol.
  19. :DYou don't ever really know where that line is, but I'll bet someone will be glad to tell you when you've crossed it.
  20. If you go, could you pick me up a couple of things?
  21. Thanks, David. I'm not sure I'll do it, but I thought it better to ask beforehand.
  22. Tandy Leather in Nashville, on Nolensville Road. If they ain't got it, you don't need it. The have a pretty good sale going on right now as well. Their 8-9 oz double shoulders are 53% off, $2.99 per sq ft. I think, and they have a coupon in their sale paper for 50% off any one item excluding leather. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/
  23. I have began the hobby of building leather holsters. If I decide to make one and offer it for sale in the classifieds, would this cause a problem? What if I offered more than one. I guess what I'm asking is where do you draw the line between a private individual and a vendor. Thanks, Greg
  24. I don't mind making an occasional donation, but I visit other sites with the ads on them, and I can't say I really mind them either. I'm sure they help considerably with revenue.
