  1. I could probably take it off your hands. The 7x57, or 7mm Mauser was a standard chambering in millions of 98 and earlier Mauser military rifles. It is a fine deer cartridge in it's own right, and is the father case of other rounds such as the 257 Roberts. It is an intermediate length cartridge; longer than the 308, yet shorter than the 30-06. As many rifles as were chambered for this fine round, ammo has become somewhat scarce.

  3. Most of the time, "you get what you pay for." I don't own one, but they look and feel pretty cheap.
  4. I was loading .454 dia. bullets. They are for a rechambered 455 Smith and Wesson I have. I also understand that some of the very early Colt SAAs were .454 dia. bores as well. I imagine you should load .452 dia. bullets for any modern 45 Colt chambered handgun. I assume the powder charge shouldn't change, however.
  5. I just loaded some 208 grain SWCs in 45 Colt with 8 grains of Unique. They shot great. They seemed a bit hard to eject, but the primers didn't flatten at all. I don't know what was up with that.
  6. I'd recommend Johnson's Jewlers in Lafayette, Tennessee. Stanley Johnson has been there for years, and is an honest, stand up guy. He also provides custom work and repairs. It is locate on the public square. Good luck on the engagement thing.
  7. Does anyone here make leather holsters for resale in the Middle Tennessee area. I'd like to have a left handed, leather Fletch type holster for a Model 51 Remington. If not, I guess I'll buy the stuff and try my hand at it.
  8. I bought the Lee anniversary kit to "get started" about 15 years ago. Guess what? I've yet to feel the need to upgrade. Lee has some great engineers who are able to come up with inexspensive, simple solutions. Their stuff is first class. I purchase Lee reloading hardware almost exclusively.
  9. I built mine completely out of 2x4 lumber. The legs are doubled 2x4s. The top and shelves are single layer 2x4s. It really wasn't that expensive. You could park a car on it!
  10. "Call again and ask them about the letter/receipt. But back to the 90 days on new permits.....AFAIK there is no real consequence if they don't issue one within 90 days. " I;ve already recieved two letters. Thanks for the info. I was afraid there wasn't much one could do. Isn't the government grand?
  11. I called after 4 months. The lady told me they were behind, and that I'd get my new permit sometime.
  12. I sent in my renewal application on January 6. I've called twice, and still haven't recieved my permit. What recourse do I have? I understand they are obligated to either grant you a permit, or send you a letter of denial within 90 days.....or else what???
  13. The Braves have the nicest facility I've been to so far. It they haven't changed, they allow you to take in coolers. They are very family friendly. Getting in and out of the parking lot is a breeze as well. As for the Smokies and the Lookouts, I've not yet seen a Lookouts game, but the have a nice park. I really enjoy going to see the Smokies. We go to a lot of Sounds games. They are great, but have a lousy park in a bad section of town. I find the Minor League games usually provide more entertainment and more give aways. It seems the major leagues don't feel the need for such promotions.
  14. I'm a proud gun owner and I'm very happy to be a member of this forum. I've already learned a lot lurking on this forum, and am looking forward to asking a lot of questions and learning more. Greg
