  1. The mum on the reciever makes it more desireable than most, as it was customary for the Japanese to grind off or otherwise deface it, as they felt it was a disgrace to turn their mum crest over to an enemy. Most Arisaka rifles you encounter will have the mum ground off.
  2. Type 99 Arisaka. 7.7x58. Markings on Japanese Arisaka Rifles and Bayonets of World War II
  3. People are buying them simply because they are new, and everyone wants to be the first one in their circle to have something new. They are, in my opinion, a solution to a non existant problem. I predict you will be able to buy all these things you want for next to nothing once the new factor wears off.
  4. Wouldn't the Pay it Forward thread in the gear classified section of this forum be a good place to do this? http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/gear-classifieds/20736-pay-forward.html
  5. The 51 Navy had a brass grip frame. On what information are you basing your argument against it being a 51 Navy? Could you provide a link?
  6. Radnor Lake Rambo Strikes Again! He's the Belle Meade Macho Man Now - Nashville News - Nashville Scene - Pith in the Wind According to this report, it was a 1851 Navy.
  7. Sped Strips are the way to go. I don't know why more stores don't carry them. They're kinda tough to find. I'd like some for a 44/45. I've got plent for 38/357. They aren't quite as fast as round speedloaders, but they are a heck of a lot easier to carry with you.
  8. A man should definitely learn the art of brewing beer!
  9. Buffett is coming to Nashville May 1 at the Sommet Center! Tickets go onsale Saturday.
  10. Perhaps it's been longer than I thought since I've bought one of these.
  11. I'll bet you find the answer to your question about zeroing the scales here: http://www.rcbs.com/downloads/instructions/Model505ScaleInstructions.pdf
  12. If you got it for less than $500 with the correct box and accouterments, you made a very good investment! You're gonna like it.
  13. I can be done by most anyone. It isn't very practical to expect to swap barrels back and forth. You'd need to rezero your scope each time. Other than that, it would be a complete pain in the can. By the time you buy two sets of go-nogo guages, a barrel, a barrel nut wrench, a vice or action wrench, and another bolt head, you could have almost bought a second rifle. If you decided later, this outfit wasn't what you really wanted, which do you think would sell better; a rifle someone has jacked around and a bunch of parts and tools, or two complete, unmolested rifles?

Why have you narrowed it down to two. I think Fall Creek Falls is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, and it isn't far from the two you mentioned.
  15. I'd just buy two rifles. The 110 Savage isn't exactly designed to be an interchangeable setup. It would equate to having two engines and transmissions for your car.
  16. I do all mine with two needles and waxed thread. The trick is that there is a tool to lay out your stitch holes evenly. You also have to makes each hole with a diamond shaped awl. A groover is also used to keep your stitches below the surface of the leather so they don't wear.
  17. Numrich Arms is a top notch place. I've spent a fortune there and never had any surprises. If you want that style holster, I'd say that's a bargain; even with shipping costs added. Another option is to watch ebay for one.
  18. YOu know, you kind of have to warm up to him. The lady in therre is the best. The guy is rather odd, but he's not a bad guy once you get past the odd demeanor.
  19. The guy with the HCP should call a time out and show the other two guys the sign on the front door. Obviously they didn't read it.
  20. Keep the Stack-On safes to store your ammo in.
