  1. I can make a very nice holster for a 642.
  2. Would that be a bad thing?> I've been to St. Louis and Memphis, and I can't say I'd miss them.
  3. I;d but a Model 70 Winchester Featherweight, Redfield mounts, low rings, and a Leupold Vari-x 2 3-9. You will not be sorry.
  4. Not bad! That'll make a fine deer rifle. The hi-point will make good landfill.
  5. 2-3 thousandths shouldn't reduce your case capacity very much at all. I doub't you'll see any measurable difference in pressures. As others have said, start at minimum and work up.
  6. Our military used the 1911 with 230 grain ball ammo for most of a century, back when the military leaders were allowed to think for themselves, and I've yet to read anything about them being concerned with over penetration. They simply wanted to impart lethal damage to the enemy, and have a reliable firearm. I do realize that FMJ is a rule of the Geneva Convention, but I believe this combination served the military well anyway.
  7. I'm not convinced the expensive boutique ammo of recent years is worth the extra cost. That goes for pistol ammo as well as high powered rifle ammo.
  8. Does a baseball player practice with a softball? You should be used to the gear you will have on hand should you need it.
  9. Go get it and take it to Grady Short in Gamaliel Kentucky. He owns Gamaliel Riding Supply. He mainly works on four wheelers and dirt bikes, but I imagine he'd be glad to help you. He's a great guy and a straight shooter. I'm glad you started this thread, as my four wheeler is leaking gas out of the carbeurator overflow tube as well. I'm going to get into it when I have a couple of spare hours, and you've given me some ideas of things to look at.
  10. Then that's what you need to practice with.
  11. Sounds like you did your job as a father well.
  12. PANTS ON DA GROUND! PANTS ON DA GROUND! LOOKIN LIKE A FOOL WIDJA PANTS ON DA GROUND!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I'd have never dreamed the 45 acp would out penetrate the 223. Herein lies a problem much more severe than that of penetration. If your gun doesn't fire, it is little more than a poorly balanced club.
  14. If everyone was like me, I'd say we;d get along all right, but it would be a dull world! I realize we have to have them, but I personally have little use for them, try to avoid them, and can think of very few instances why I'd call them. I guess you have to if you are filing an insurance claim or have an auto accident. I would never call them because someone was driving in my yard. I'd handle it myself.
  15. 686. It'll probably bring $550-$600.
  16. Not quite. I mean I'll send Ron Ramsey a campaign donation.

38 wadcutter target ammo in that thing would be like having an overgrown 22. It would have to be fun!
  18. Very nice. You'll be glad you didn't let that one get away. I'll warn you though, It'll soon get lonely and you'll bet buying other Smith and Wessons to keep it company.

I'm exactly twice your age and I still want one!
  20. Police are pretty much useless. I think you handled yourself fine untill you called the police. Did that help you in any way?
  21. Shooting 22s at reactive targets is another good way to start. Make a semi-competitive game of it. Youo probably want to let her beat you at it to start.
  22. I guess I'm lucky, as my wife enjoys shooting sports. I've yet to see anyone who didn't enjoy busting a clay bird with a light kicking shotgun. Perhaps that would be a place to start.
  23. Really? It's hit or miss on a bullet exiting a deer carcass when fired from a high powered rifle. A deer is roughly the size of a human, without the clothing. A high powered rifle is leaps and bounds ahead of just about all handguns in terms of penetration. You may be correct, as I've never shot a human, but I find it difficult to believe that a 45 bullet would consistantly penetrate a grown person. I would want it to almost, if not go through them.
