I have a model 37, which is a blue, lightweight version of a model 60, a model 640 which is a hammerless version of a model 60, and a 642, which is a lightweight version of the 640. I carry the 642. It is quite a bit lighter than the 640, and has no hammer to poke you or to snag on things like the 37. I can tell very little difference in the recoil of the three revolvers. I'm not trying to argue with you here, I am just presenting a somewhat informed opinion based on my experience. I carry the 642, my wife carries the 37 in a purse, and the heavy 640 stays home in the nightstand.

We found the barrels on sale. There was a choice between 257 Roberts and 6.5x55. I already had brass and dies for the 257.

Nickel removes the need to lubricate. In pistol cases, carbide sizing dies perform the same function with nickel plated or regular brass. Other than that, they're just pretty.

Would you care to post some photos of it? I'd love to see it, as The Rifle Shop does not ring a bell to me. That is very interesting. We're trying to keep the shooting sports alive; at least in the family. My youngest is not old enough to enjoy the rifle yet, but he does have a Chipmunk 22, and is pretty accurate with it. My oldest has already killed two deer with his, using his own handloaded ammunition, loaded under my close supervision. His last one was a one shot kill at over 150 yards.

Why isn't basic economics being taught in schools anymore? A company exists to make a profit. A popular way to make a profit is to provide a product or service. Some of the things you need to do this include, but are not limited to: Tools, Labor, Materials, and Capital (money). Customers want the best possible product at the lowest possible price. Investors (shareholders) want to earn the highest possible profit. Workers (labor) want to perform the least amount of work possible for the highest possible wage. Competition and market conditions regulate these variables. Anything the government does throws a monkey wrench into the workings of the free market system. The reason companies rely on foriegn labor is because it is comparable in quality while being cheaper. This pleases both the consumer and the investor. How else would you propose all this to take place while you are doing little labor for an artificially high wage, while expecting to buy products for next to nothing prices? Less government regulations and lower taxes would go a long way towards bringing back manufacturing jobs to the U.S. I really don't care, because I'm not at all interested in a factory job.

I'm pretty sure Al Gore said he invented the internet. I'm also pretty sure that no one here is advocating anarchy. What we are looking for is LIMITED government. The Federal Government is there to do what the public sector will not, can not, or should not do. Healthcare does not fall into that catergory in my opinion.

Getting the suit to the Supreme Court will be the real challenge. There are some very liberal circuit court judges along the road to the Supreme Court.

He's a machinist by trade. They're made in much the same way that well known custom makers make them. He starts with a Mauser action, reshapes the bottom metal, installs an aftermarket trigger, forges the bolt, jewels the bolt, installs, headspaces the barrel and trues the action, laps the bolt to the reciever, cuts, sands, inlets, and beds the action to a stock blank, checkers and finishes the stock, polishes the metal and has it blued. I'm sure I forgot several things, but that gives you an idea of the work that goes into a custom rifle. He makes his own barrel bands.

A while back, I posted pictures of a rifle my father made for my oldest son. It was a Mauser action chambered for 257 Roberts. Tonight, my youngest son was presented with his very own 257 Roberts built by his grandfather as well. Here;s the oldest son's rifle. and here's the newest proud owner of a very special deer rifle. I hope that one day they'll realize exactly what these rifles mean.
