  1. It ain't a contest!!! Show em.
  2. I'd strongly suggest you keep the Colt, save up and buy the Smith. If that's outta the question. I'd suggest you sell the Colt, and purchase a used model 29-2 or earlier. You won't be sorry when you see the crafstmanship and quality. I wouldn't want a new one with a lock on it.
  3. BLAZING SADDLES!!!
  4. Thanks for the link. My oldest son is wanting to make a hunting knife. I wouldn't mind making one as well. Looks like we'll be spending some money there soon.
  5. Antlers and Feathers in Lafayette is a pretty good small town gun store. Go on in and tell Brent that Greg said to give you a deal. My least favorite would be most any of the big box stores such as Wal Mart, Dicks, Academy Sports, etc. They all sell low end stuff. They do usually have good prices, but never a good selection and pitiful customer service. The Wal Mart in Lafayette is the only big box store I can remember who have someone working at the gun counter that has a knowledge of guns. Most of the rest I've talked to I doubt have ever fired one.
  6. A good gun belt consists of two layers of leather glued and sewn together. Some makers offer an additional layer of kydex or other stiff material sandwiches in between. Depending on how you want the belt to look, in addition to the additional stitching and edge burnishing, it also requires more stamping, tooling, carving, etc. I can probably make two holsters in the time it takes to make a belt.
  7. The building is a dump, but it is owned and operated by fine people, and the food is worth walking to Scottsville for!
  8. I hate to dispute you, but the best catfish and slaw in the entire world is located a short drive north of you in Scottsville, Kentucky. It is called Harper's. And yes, I've eaten at Jack and Billy's several times. It is a very good resturant.
  9. Because you don't own them all.
  10. I hand stitch everything I make. I can tell you that a belt is more work than a holster. I make them as a hobby, but I also sell a few along to help diffuse the cost of tools and supplies. You'd be better off financially to make the holsters and buy the belt.
  11. I belive some, if not all of the dent guys use dry ice to pop out the dents. I understand it works well, but have no personal experience with it.
  12. I wonder why this thread has received so many visits?
  13. I think my flashlight came from Wal Mart. Now you guys are leading me into something else I can endlessly spend money on. Shame on you.
  14. +1 on the college fund. Start one today, and have an amount autodrafted from your checking account EVERY month just like a bill. I'd also plead you to purchase a sizeable life insurance policy. Term insurance costs nearly nothing, but could be the only thing feeding your family in the untimely event of your unexpected demise. And NO I am not an insurance salesman.
  15. People are beginning to catch on. I once could buy all I wanted for $150 each, and I'm not all that old! You couldn't give them away. Now you can't find them.
  16. That's a handsome lever gun.
  17. This reminds me of an all day, fun filled seminar I attended on bolts. I think the same principle would apply here. The only thing I took away from that torture session was "the larger your shaft, the better grade of lubricant you'll need." (This guy wasn't attempting to make a joke).
  18. $2.95 per square foot? Sounds like a deal to me!
  19. Might want to check the adjustment on your sizing die. As for tumbling, take it to the laundry mat and tumble in the dryer. You can get large bags of media at the pet store. Just leave it in the dryer when you are done so the next person can use it.
  20. If the bulge in her belly is up high, it will be a girl. If it is low to the ground like a big beer gut, it's a boy.
  21. You ever consider the possibility that you could be spending too much time watching Youtube?
  22. It is a nice Marlin. I had to get rid of it. It was always picking fights with my Savages. It was something to do with hammer envy I think.
