  1. The mental health issue is a tough one. There are obviously many people who simply shouldn’t be walking around in public. My concern is who gets to make that decision. There are no doubt many folks who’d put me in an asylum if they could. Some of these folks happen to be elected officials. I wish I knew the solution. If it were easy, I guess it wouldn’t still be a problem.
  2. I would expect so. Probably most of what you find on the internet is fake. What I said really had little to do with the meme.
  3. Many physicians share the opinion that simply owning a firearm is a mental deficiency. As for opinions, I simply want this type thing to stop without making me and millions of other law abiding citizens criminals.
  4. Red flag laws will be the weapon of choice for ex wives/jilted girlfriends as well as pissed off neighbors. Just imagine your home being raided and firearms confiscated simply because your neighbor didn’t like some small thing you did and made a call on you. If an adult can’t be trusted with a firearm, should they be in public at all?
  5. I’ve read both in several places. Who the hell knows?
  6. Give your wife a big hug. She’s gonna need a bunch of em.
  7. So far, this police chief seems to be the real deal.
  8. I’d argue that anyone who pretends to be a different gender from what they are points to mental illness.
  9. Most anywhere along Dickerson Pike or Murfreesboro Road.
  10. Get out your fork, boss.
  11. I wouldn’t expect a coherent answer.
  12. Being a dad is a tough job if you give a damn about how your children turn out.
  13. Here’s my conspiracy theory. No doubt in my mind there are alphabet agency employees who monitor forums such as this along with other social media. I would not be surprised to learn they occasionally goad some nut into commuting a politically expedient and terrible act. The timing on these shootings, and often the details almost seem custom made to fit the current state of affairs in DC.
  14. 3 deceased children according to the news. We as a country have gone completely insane.
  15. Memphis…the gift that just keeps on giving.
  16. The pattern making sort of came naturally to me. I lay the gun on a piece of poster board or file folder and trace that t’s outline. Then I just draw the front of the holster around it, cut it, fold it over, and trace its outline for the back. The. I draw the rest of the back, belt loop, etc., cut out the entire pattern, and trace it on the leather and cut it out. The pistol above is what got me started in the leather working hobby. You just can’t find a holster for a model 51 Remington. Especially left handed! I also make knife sheaths, bags, wallets, belts, etc. That stuff is pretty simple except there’s a lot of sewing in some of it.
  17. I think so. I am partial to the Williams Foolproof receiver sights for the Marlin levers too. What do you think? Like it better with a smaller scope?
  18. Many thanks. I’ve found this to be a difficult hobby. I’ve learned to make a passable holster, but making them attractive is about beyond my skill set.
  19. Here's my latest effort.
  20. Well, it’s damn near long as the rifle. That’s what bothers me. What I hate is the fact that 35 Remington ammunition and brass have seemingly gone the way of the Do Do bird. There are millions of rifles out there so chambered, and in my mind, it is a fabulous whitetail and black bear cartridge.
  21. You did very well with this one. There’s some nice figure in the wood, especially for a store brand gun. Looks great! If you’re set on a scope, I think you’d be happier with a short, compact Leupold or Burris.
  22. I’m always skeptical of anyone who doesn’t love dogs. That’s a sure enough hero right there!
