  1. Yeah...you, me, and the other 9000 guys who will open this thread.
  2. Not at all what I expected. You will get a lot of hits on this thread.
  3. Is it their policy to search you before going through a lock?
  4. Yeah...the 10mm is too small. I like the BFR 45-70 for everyday carry. It has superior penetration to the 10mm.

    Glock Vs 1911

I'll sure be glad when Glock comes out with a 1911!
  6. Sounds like her fiance has a rough road ahead.

Any competent gunsmith can improve the factory trigger for you for a nominal fee. If you don't completely understand the inner workings of the trigger, I'd discourage you from stoning on it yourself. I agree with GunTroll; the Model 70 Winchester had the perfect trigger. Why they changed it, I don't know.
  9. Sounds like a good plan.
  10. Sorry. I sure did misread. I thought it said "tell my why you do or don't open carry.":hiding:
  11. He's full of feces. I dont know anyone who's ever worn out an 870 . A pump will impart more recoil than a gas operated auto, but I sure don't understand why they wouldn't hold up to shooting 100 rounds of light target loads. Look for a gently used Remington 1100. Wal Mart sells a Beretta 391 auto that isn't very expensive. It is the same action as their more expensive counterparts, but lack the fancy wood stocks and highly polished metal.
  12. They are quality knives. They are heavy, however, and the way the tip of the blade is shaped means you will almost certainly bust a gut open with it. I prefer a straight tip; a skinner style blade. I like high dollar knives, but the truth is you can take around $20 to the Walmart sporting goods counter and get a knife that will gut more deer than you'll ever shoot. Gerber, Buck, and Kershaw are all good quality, inexpensive knives sold there. For hunting, I prefer a fixed knife to a folder, but that is purely personal preference.
  13. That pretty well sums it up. You can't go wrong.

    Sporters

No. My father builds them. I did cut down the Mexican with the military stock. The second one in the bottom picture came as a basketcase with that stock blank included in the deal. It is a bit short, but one of the most beautiful pieces of wood I've ever seen. I don't know what variety of walnut it is. The very bottom one is a commercial sporter called a Musketeer. It now belongs to another forum member.
  15. I think you'd simply have to purchase another hammer and you'd be good to go. Gun Parts Corporation should have them. Smith and Wesson might be able to sell you one as well. If I wanted one to carry, I'd prefer a bobbed hammer. I have several rervolvers, and I believe the 19-2 is just about the perfect all around revolver.
  16. Not a BAR, but I've had 742 Remingtons in the past, and they'd cycle anything I loaded. I would expect the same from a Browning.

Do you feel the same way about Mausers? The reason for it started way back when. You could buy a surplus military rifle for next to nothing, and turn it into a hunting rifle for a fraction of the cost of a new rifle. Money was tight, so this was an attractive option. It is also nice to have a custom rifle built just for you, so it is an art form that has stayed with us. The "Bubbafacation" of guns is another matter.
  18. My LCP has two springs around the giude rod.
  19. I've worked outdoors my entire life. Last month was the first time ever I've had any problems overheating....i guess that was what it was. We took the children to a theme park for two days. I felt fine. The next day, I woke up and didn't feel very well, but went to work. As the day went on, I began to feel worse. I decided to come home, and on the way home I began to shiver; more like convulsing uncontrollably. In 100 degree heat, I drove home with the heat on full blast, still shivering. When I finally got home and got out of the truck, everything turned dark, and I had to sit down a few minutes before continuing into the house. I put on a heavy coat, turned the air off, and got into bed under the covers and laid there until late the next day. I felt a bit better then, but it took about a week to get back to normal. As I said, this has NEVER happened to me, and I stayed hydrated; I thought. I never felt bad until the following day. I also found it odd that my wife and kids had no ill effects.
  20. I would suggest you also aquire a good double layer gun belt to go with your holster. With a larger gun, the quality belt is essential. Without it, you won't be happy with the finest holster available. Cool gun!
  21. What did you have in mind?
  22. I'm not saying this trying to hurt your feelings, but you've already our $40 in parts in a $20 gun. When you're in a hole, stop digging. I imagine excessive headspace is to blame assuming the slide spring provides enough resistance to fully close the slide.
  23. There were a whole sheetload of 45 rounds, pinfire, rimfire, and centerfire. There wasn't but one 45 Colt that I was aware of.
