  1. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. It is one of the most horrid looking contraptions I've ever seen. I do hope you get one if you really like it however.
  2. I really enjoyed these pics from a bygone era. My how times have changed! I love to see which guns the old guys chose. See how many you can identify. I hope you enjoy them as well. Someone put together quite a collection. Old Hunting Photos. | Facebook
  3. Never fired a Charter Arms, but I have fired various 44s and 357s. In my opinion, with a 357, you get a sharp rap for recoil, while the big bores tend to give a slower push. I can't quantify the difference in felt recoil, but there is a definite difference in the type of recoil.
  4. I have several extra scopes lying around. If you decide what you want, and have trouble finding it, PM me. I might be able to come up with something reasonable.
  5. No, but I don't see any fences either.
  6. Never stayed there, but I have stayed at the Choo Choo. It was pretty nice. I can also recommend the Residence Inn on Chestnut. The last time we were there, they had a buffet every evening, free of charge, that included draft beer!!! One night would be Mexican, the next might be Italian, etc.
  7. Aren't you the guy who made knives? Got one you'd trade for a scope? I might be able to dig up something.
  8. Call me boring, but my favorite scopes are an M8 4x Leupold, or an old 4x Redfield. Either of these are available used for less than your $150 budget. I own several of each, and I've had nothing but the best of luck with them. I'm not sure if leupold will service the old Redfields, but the Leupold scopes have an unconditional lifetime warranty. Run over one with a truck, send it back, and you'll recieve it back in a couple of weeks good as new. Keep an eye on ebay.
  9. Which store?
  10. My first thought was how the h3ll did they do that......THERE??!!!??? I do good to actually get to move a few feet at a time in front of the Polk building. I'll bet the meter maid got really mad and flipped it over.
  11. I'm not saying a 9mm won't kill a deer, but I don't think it would be an ideal deer cartridge.
  12. Great picture! Reminds me of an old girlfriend.
  13. I'd suggest you buy two; one for concealment, and one for target shooting. I'm unaware of any model that will serve both purposes well.
  14. You could always ask, but what you will likely find is a apethetic, ignorant, media brainwashed drone that thinks that "guns are bad". Rarely do those postings go up by accident. They don't understand that the person who ignores the sign is the one they need to worry about. Those signs do little but create a "fish in a barrel" situation.
  15. I think the 642 Smith and Wesson is one of the best carry guns ever produced. However, lately I've found the Ruger LCP much easier to carry.
  16. You are talking crazy! Replace that "or" with an "and" and you'll be on track.
  17. THis isn't the best picture in the world, but we watched this 8 point buck eating dinner last night as we were eating dinner. He was behind my house, and very close to my shooting bench. He'd better not do that in a couple more weeks!
  18. 0000 steel wool and plenty of oil is the way to remove surface rust while keeping as much finish as possible.
  19. Hot For Teacher
  20. Great qusetion. If, by chance, you are a revolver guy, I'd suggest the book "Sixguns By Keith" written by Elmer Keith.
  21. TO address the original post, I regularly store extra garden seed in my deep freezer in the basement. They grow just like newly purchased seed. I don't know how long they'd last, but I'd guess indefinitely, as long as the integrity of the seed wasn't somehow compromised by bugs eating them, moisture, rot, etc. Seeds germinated after various ice ages.
  22. Why would a person want a ported barrel on a .357?
  23. I'm not sure, but $50 does seem kinda steep.
