Here are my boys shooting clay pigeons today: ...ad a bit of fishing yesterday

Heck if I know, but it does.
-
It more or less turns the mud into pottery, if you can imagine that. It comes off clean.
-
Now that's a nice gesture, and some good looking work as well.

We used to cover potatoes with a thick layer of mud and throw into the coals. When done, the mud is dried, and cracks like concrete. Remove this, and you have a perfect baked potato.

This is definitely B.S. Reminds me of the time my wife was pulled over in Hartsville and harrassed for nearly an hour for no reason. She was 8 months pregnant and coming home from work. I went in the police chief's office the next morning and shut the door behind me. He let me blow off some steam and was very courteous, professional, and apologetic. I'd went in there with the intention of either him or me getting hurt. He handled it better than I did, but I still feel those morons owe my wife at least an apology. A person shouldn't be screwed with like this. It seems the OP should have some recourse.

Searched and read need help with equipment choice

If I were loading high volume, I'd definitely buy a progressive setup. Since I just backyard plink and deer hunt a bit, a single stage suits my needs. -
This tutorial might help you make an informed desicion.

KEEP THE REVOLVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'll thank me later. Really, at least go shoot them before selling them. Your Cobra will bring around $500, ot at least I've had several offers of that for mine, and you'd get about $550 for the 686. I have a strict habit of keeping things my father gave me. So far I haven't regretted it.

Cave city is a small show, and a lot closer drive than Louisville. I always seem to find something interesting there. That's something I can't say about any of the Tennessee shows I've attended.
-
I think there's a show in Cave City Kentucky this weekend as well. It's funny how they're all the same weekend. I have always liked the Cave City show, but won't get to attend this time.

How old are the kids? Mine both began learning gun safety in diapers.

That's what I'm looking for! Thanks.

Never thought of that. I'll have to give it a try.

Nice! I've always wanted a Garand, but have yet to find the right deal at the right time.

I didn't say you set the bag on fire. You set it on the grill grate. You cook it over coals; not a blazing flame. I've done it, and had great results. I guess the moisture in the food keeps the bag from melting, and the heat keeps the moisture from leaking or something. You end up with the bottom of the bag being hard and blackened; it favors oil cloth when the brekfast is cooked. I haven't burned any yet. The first ones did take a bit longer than I would have thought. It doesn't sound like it would work, and I was skeptical, but I'm telling you it worked great. The worst thing was a bit of bacon stuck to the bottom of the bag.

Yes. A 22 long rifle single shot is superior to a sharp stick or empty pocket in self defense.

The well would only be for a situation in which all else fails. At that point, I'd take a chance on the water being potable. If you know of a local person in Northern Middle Tennessee who drills wells, or even better yet, if someone here does, I'd like some contact info.

WIth camping season nigh, I thought I'd share a breafast recipe we tried last year. Line the bottom of a brown paper lunch bag with bacon. Cover with frozen hash brown potatoes, cover with two eggs, salt and pepper. Fold the top of the paper bag closed and sit on a grill or grate over the campfire for about 25-30 minutes; or until the eggs are done. You can eat it from the bag, and throw the empty bag into the fire. A great breakfast with little effort and no cleanup. Got any you'd like to share?

I'm not the most observant person you'd ever see, and when I'm out and about, I'm usually people watching, or have my mind on something a thousand miles away. Unless there's a large sign on the front door at eye level, I don't generally notice postings. It isn't on purpose, but that just isn't something that's on the top of my mind. I'm sure I've walked unknowingly by several postings. How much effort should one put into locating these signs? Are you always thinking about them, and on the lookout for them?

I've spent some time thinking and taking stock of my situation; especially since the earthquake in Japan. The best I can come up with is that I'm pretty well prepared for most any emergency, except for one thing: WATER. We have city water, and if you've ever laid any water line, you'll know that the pieces just snap together. It seems to me that in an earthquake, they'd snap apart just as easily. This is assuming that the city is still able to provide water at all. Is there anyone in Middle Tennessee that still drills wells? I may look at having one drilled.

Best course of action when pulled over by LEO?
gregintenn replied to DocZombie's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I would just try to be still, quiet, and agreeable, and do your best to do what the officer asks you to do. If you drop your wallet in the floorboard, DO NOT bend over to pick it up!!!!! AN officer's handgun looks like it has an awfully big hole in it when he's pointing it at your nose!!!!! -
I'm sure your posts were aimed at me, wjh2657. You are technically correct that since I'm not in the military, I'm not fighting a war personally. I do have friends and family who are, and the U.S.A. is at war. I am a citizen of the U.S.A., ergo WE are at war. I appreciate your service, but it doesn't make you any more of a United States citizen than I am. I understand the point you are trying to make, but it seems you've chosen a poor way to present it.

Not even close. He subscribes to the local newspaper and several outdoor and gun magazines. I expect his name was pulled from something like that.
