Check gunbroker for completed auctions. That'll give you an idea. Those are the serial numbers Colt started with each year. So yes, find the two yours falls in between, and the top number will be the year yours was made.

I have one like it in Nickel (bottom left). The wood grips aren't real common. It could have very well been made in 1962. I'd say it would fetch $500-$600. The box and extra cylinder really add to the value of the gun, so don't lose them. Also, I still have the cardboard outer sleeve that slides over the box. If you have that, keep it as well. They are really neat little revolvers.

They could be filming a movie or something. My point is, if you don't know for certain what's going on, and you aren't personally threatened, you probably should stay out of it. You stand to loose a lot, but there isn't much chance of you gaining anything.

What if it turned out later to not be as it appeared? What if you've just shot an undercover cop in the midst of a drug bust? You'd better think these things out in advance instead of just planning to jump in and be the hero. You don't always know the whole story of what's going on.

I applaud anyone who makes a living via physical labor. I've done it, but I found out I wasn't able to work hard enough to provide the kind of lifestyle I wanted for my family. I decided to "work smarter" rather than harder.

Like it or not, there are two kinds of guys who carry. Type 1 is a normal person, wearing normal clothes, acting like a real human. This guy doesn't seem threatening to anyone. He can usually pull off open carry with hardly anyone even noticing. Type 2 is the guys you see walking around wearing all manners of "tactical" garbage, peeking around corners before proceeding, and while they often have some technical firearms knowledge, they rarely have any practical firearms knowledge. These guys wear combat boots to the library. They try to dress and act like law enforcement. Truthfully, they scare the h3ll out of me, and don't provide a very positive image of gun owners. These people, in my opinion, do more harm than good for gun rights. Type 2 is the guy who is noticed, and the guy by which we are all judged by the general public. I've ran into a few guys who made me reconsider for a split second the soundness of the handgun carry law. I've met several people from this forum, and none so far would fall into this catergory.

WHat I'm getting at is that if I know where the drug dealers are, wouldn't you think the police should know as well?

Does Fobus make a paddle holster to fit the TCP? It doesn't look like they do. Perhaps one for an LCP or Kel tec would work.

I have no knowledge or experience in the world of illicit drugs, but I can show you at least a half a dozen places about thee county here where one can aquire various drugs, and I'm sure there are many, many more. These people have made a living doing this for years and years. If this is common knowledge, can anyone shed some light on the reason why law enforcement never does anything about them? I have my ideas, but I'd like to hear some other objective thoughts.

I'd enjoy that. Open carry is kind of like breast feeding in public or picking your nose; it's legal, but there are some places where you do it that you can expect people to be offended.

I've never looked at an SCSW. I can't imagine it offering anything more than "The History of Smith and Wesson", except it is probably more up to date.

I went back yesterday looking for an S&W 39-2. Lo and behold he had one, and absolutely tried to rape me on price. He was still very friendly and professional, but wanted a mint price for a rough gun. I bought a mint one, in the box with papers, cleaning kit, and 3 extra magazines for less than his price for the rough one with no extras. They do, however, have some good prices on range ammo, and it looks like they have a nice range.

Roy Jinks' book is the bible of Smith and Wesson. I think a copy should be mandatory study in high school American History class. Everyone should own a copy.

If you're in the produce dept. at Wal Mart decked out like Rambo, I'd say both of you. As far as self defense goes, there's something to be said for blending in, and not attracting attention to one's self.

Handguns are different than long guns. It is my understanding that while you can ship a long gun directly to a person in state, you need to go through an FFL with a handgun. My post office won't let an individual ship a handgun. I can't quote you the law on it, but this has been my experience.

Well stated. I've done both, and while I actually prefer the labor, I've found that the management type job pays better and is more stable.

I have not experienced this, but have encountered my share of outspoken, obnoxious people. I don't feel this is an irrational fear, but perhaps it is. Until I can come up with a way to deal with a similar situation, I'll be very guarded in where and when I open carry. I'm not suggesting everyone else do the same, but I was proposing something you might not have considered.

The only thing I'm wondering is how you handle a loud woman in a crowded place coming up in your face and being loud and beligerent, yelling about you carrying a gun, endangering everyone, being a coward, etc. I don't see how you win this one. You walk away; she won. You hit her; you lose. You say anything in return; you lose. This is very likely to happen, and it wouldn't surprise me if some members of the crowd now drawn around to watch your reaction decide to join in. Something to think about.
