  1. The Goodman show was pretty much a dud. I especially enjoy the a--hole yelling at people to move away from the front door. How was the RK show? Anyone go?
  2. I've shot nothing buy FMJ through mine, and I see no reason to shoot anything else in it. I am in the minority, however. I am more worried about getting penetration from a 380 than expansion. I've shot mine a couple hundred rounds or so, and have yet to have a single malfunction of any kind. It's more accurate than I'd have guessed as well.
  3. SOunds like what I'm looking for. I downloaded it once, and couldn't open it. I'll try it again. Thanks. What's the trick to getting it to open so you can read it?
  4. You're right.
  5. I don't use just one or two brands of powder or bullets. I use what I can get a deal on.
  6. I also just bought a bunch of 257 Roberts brass, and thirty something boxes of assorted bullets. I would like to get creative.
  7. Thanks. I wasn't trying to promote my wares, I was just saying thatI believe good gunleather can't be replaced with Kydex or nylon, and if someone hasn't tried quality leather gear, they don't know what they're missing....regardless of manufacturer.
  8. Thanks. That's the kind of thing I think I'd like to have access to. For example, I have some 240 grain half jacket 44 bullets I think were made by Speer. I've read that you should load them hot to aviod the jacket separating from the bullet and staying in the barrel. I haven't found any load data for them, however. I don't know if it would be the same as any other 240 gr jacket bullet or not.
  9. I've seen several sites like that, and they do contain much valuable information. I was looking for something with a nearly unlimited amount of data without buying an entire library of manuals.
  10. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/member.php?u=2 Look in this link under his avatar (picture of a dog) and click on the "send private message" icon. It's pretty aself explanatory from there. Welcome to the forum.
  11. Like loaddata.com or others? What do you think of it?
  12. Erik, I'd wager that if you got yourself a high quality leather holster and a matching double layer leather belt, you'd forget all about the nylon and plastic stuff.
  13. Why would a 1911 have a rail on it?:shrug:Guardrail?
  14. I don't understand all this talk about upgrades. You Do realize that John Browning perfected the pistol 100 years ago.
  15. There's this one brand of 1911 mil spec.....seems like it has a picture of a horsey on it, they've been making them for about 100 years now. I don't think you'd go wrong with one of them.
  16. Square butt or round? Target sights or non adjustable? Do you have the original box and paperwork? Is the gun in 100% unfired, unturned condition? These things make a big difference in whether it is truly a collector grade commanding big bucks, or a nice shooter. There's your gap in price.
  17. I wondered if that wasn't the case. Knowing that, I guess the dealer just chose a poor way to express the fact that he didn't want it. Looks like a fine carry gun.
  18. I don't know....in the photos, it looks like the pistol was buried in a pond, exumed a year later, and dragged into town behind a truck, where it was cleaned with an air grinder and reblued. I hope it's just the lighting. Is that the factory finish? If not, is it badly pitted? If the bore looks like the slide and frame in the pics, I think he made you a very generous offer.
  19. Not sure. Savage or Smith and Wesson probably, with Winchester and/or Colt not far behind.
  20. Ruger LCP.
  21. Sadly, I guess, I follow his logic, and find it hard to dispute. The 1911 was pressed into service because of a storm of reports that the Colt 38 DA wasn't effective. The 1911 worked! For some reason I can't state, our military saw fit to return to an inferior handgun, the 92 Beretta. They did the same thing with the standard battle rifle.
  22. My father made this one for me. It is made of D2 tool steel, and some sort of laminated wood. It wasn't a kit. He ground it, heat treated it, and all. It is a very heavy knife. I've carried it hunting for years now, and have gutted and skinned countless deer with it. It really holds an edge well.
  23. I can't tell from the picture whether it has a hammer or a grip safety, but it looks like a 1903 Safety Hammerless. It also appears that the grip panel is broken. It doesn't appear in the photo to have much finish left. Most of these I've seen had very loose actions. I'd also tell you to be aware that it is NOT a 38 Special, but a 38 S&W, which is hard to find ammo for. I'm also curious if the holster has a maker's mark on it. If it's an S.D. Myers, Lawerence, Heiser, etc., It could have as much or more value than the revolver. The stag handled knife in front of it, however, I'd like to know more about.
  24. What little pine I've seen burned went POOF! and left a pile of ashes and oozing, sticky resin behind.
  25. I'm a country boy, and I've always liked guns. I found myself forgetting I had one on my belt, and going into town for something. Probably wouldn't cause a problem here, as most everyone knows me, but I thought it wouldn't take but once for me to have a lot of trouble on my hands. My wife expressed interest in a handgun carry permit, so I thought that would be a good opportunity for both of us to get legal. Sometimes I carry, and sometimes I don't. I don't go many places where I'm scared of trouble. My wife, on the other hand, doesn't leave the house unarmed. I'm proud of her for that.
