  1. I'm waiting for the cliff notes version of that post.
  2. I'd be more likely to intervene if I weren't carrying than if I were. I make a special effort to stay out of trouble while carrying, as if I get in trouble while carrying, it'll not just look bad on me, but put a black eye on all hcp holders. We aren't law enforcement.
  3. There;s a h3ll of a difference in dealing with a situation like this if it's your job, and you have the backing of the court system, and just being an innocent bystander with a carry permit. I am not a leo, and just because I have a gun doesn't obligate me to protect the general public. A police officer can get by with things a permit holder will get punished for. That's the way it should be. That's why we have them; that's why you call them.
  4. You guys are looking at this all wrong. You just don't know what's happening, or what happened before you got there. I don't know what DEA agents do. That's just an example. It could be thousands of things that brought this on, many we'd never consider. She may well have deserved it. You just don;'t know. I'm telling you that if you go butting into someone else's dispute you are going to open yourself up to all manners of liability. I know a man who once tried to seperate a man and woman who were fighting. The woman ended up beating the good samaritan worse than the man did. Thankfully, no one was armed.
  5. Can she cock the hammer on your silky smooth model 36?
  6. SO let's say you did this, and now you've found yourself with a handgun pointed at an undercover DEA agent. You think he ain't fixin to kill you? You can also bet he isn't by himself. The best case would be that you go to prison for threatening a federal agent with a deadly weapon. You're not going to like this, but it's easy to ba a bad a$$ on the internet. I've always been taught that if it gets to the point you need to pull your weapon out, you'd better be shooting. It isn't a microphone; you don't pull it out and make a speech. It seems very risky to stick your nose in someone else's business. Call the police and be a witness. You have the right to defend yourself. So did the woman being attacked. She decided she didn't need to. This shouldn't be a cause for you to possibly screw up your life.
  7. Finally....something I can relate to!
  8. They were made for shootin. Just take care of it.
  9. Colt Frontier Scout Dual Cylinder 22mag 22lr w/box : Curios and Relics at GunBroker.com I havee seen one go for over a grand, but the market is a bit soft on them compared to three or four years ago.
  10. Check gunbroker for completed auctions. That'll give you an idea. Those are the serial numbers Colt started with each year. So yes, find the two yours falls in between, and the top number will be the year yours was made.
  11. I have one like it in Nickel (bottom left). The wood grips aren't real common. It could have very well been made in 1962. I'd say it would fetch $500-$600. The box and extra cylinder really add to the value of the gun, so don't lose them. Also, I still have the cardboard outer sleeve that slides over the box. If you have that, keep it as well. They are really neat little revolvers.
  12. They could be filming a movie or something. My point is, if you don't know for certain what's going on, and you aren't personally threatened, you probably should stay out of it. You stand to loose a lot, but there isn't much chance of you gaining anything.
  13. What if it turned out later to not be as it appeared? What if you've just shot an undercover cop in the midst of a drug bust? You'd better think these things out in advance instead of just planning to jump in and be the hero. You don't always know the whole story of what's going on.
  14. If I didn't have a personal relationship with the woman, I'd call 911. I intend to protect my family and myself. Everyone else, especially those I don't know are free to do the same.
  15. I applaud anyone who makes a living via physical labor. I've done it, but I found out I wasn't able to work hard enough to provide the kind of lifestyle I wanted for my family. I decided to "work smarter" rather than harder.
  16. Like it or not, there are two kinds of guys who carry. Type 1 is a normal person, wearing normal clothes, acting like a real human. This guy doesn't seem threatening to anyone. He can usually pull off open carry with hardly anyone even noticing. Type 2 is the guys you see walking around wearing all manners of "tactical" garbage, peeking around corners before proceeding, and while they often have some technical firearms knowledge, they rarely have any practical firearms knowledge. These guys wear combat boots to the library. They try to dress and act like law enforcement. Truthfully, they scare the h3ll out of me, and don't provide a very positive image of gun owners. These people, in my opinion, do more harm than good for gun rights. Type 2 is the guy who is noticed, and the guy by which we are all judged by the general public. I've ran into a few guys who made me reconsider for a split second the soundness of the handgun carry law. I've met several people from this forum, and none so far would fall into this catergory.
  17. WHat I'm getting at is that if I know where the drug dealers are, wouldn't you think the police should know as well?
  18. Does Fobus make a paddle holster to fit the TCP? It doesn't look like they do. Perhaps one for an LCP or Kel tec would work.
  19. I have no knowledge or experience in the world of illicit drugs, but I can show you at least a half a dozen places about thee county here where one can aquire various drugs, and I'm sure there are many, many more. These people have made a living doing this for years and years. If this is common knowledge, can anyone shed some light on the reason why law enforcement never does anything about them? I have my ideas, but I'd like to hear some other objective thoughts.
  20. If they don't see it, I don't have to explain anything.
  21. I'd enjoy that. Open carry is kind of like breast feeding in public or picking your nose; it's legal, but there are some places where you do it that you can expect people to be offended.

    S&W

I've never looked at an SCSW. I can't imagine it offering anything more than "The History of Smith and Wesson", except it is probably more up to date.

    The Gun Room

I went back yesterday looking for an S&W 39-2. Lo and behold he had one, and absolutely tried to rape me on price. He was still very friendly and professional, but wanted a mint price for a rough gun. I bought a mint one, in the box with papers, cleaning kit, and 3 extra magazines for less than his price for the rough one with no extras. They do, however, have some good prices on range ammo, and it looks like they have a nice range.

Roy Jinks' book is the bible of Smith and Wesson. I think a copy should be mandatory study in high school American History class. Everyone should own a copy.
