  1. Is it so that I can drive to Anniston Alabama with cash and my handgun carry permit, and return home with a Garand? If so, how's their selection? When's the best time to go? Any other advice you could give would be appreciated.
  2. I've sold hundreds of them, and I've yet to ask for any "papers". The only problem I've had is getting home and wishing I'd have kept it.
  3. You might need rice for june bugs.
  4. Here are two of quite a few casualties that fell to me and the boys this afternoon. We shot several carpenter bees, bumble bees, and wasps. We think the cicadas will be fine sport soon. I'm having good luck with 2.5 grains of Bullseye, then a 3/8" wad cut from gasket paper, then filled to the rim with walnut media, and capped with another gasket paper wad. The only trouble I've found is getting the first wad to go down into the case straight. I seat the second wad with my bullet seating die, and crimp it in place. These aren't any louder than a pop gun, and are deadly to insects at 6-8'. THanks for the suggestion. This is a lot of fun.
  5. I looked this morning, and mine does have a staked front sight ala GI issue.
  6. I went to buy an LC9 this morning. Picked it up, laid it back down, and came home empty handed. It appears they took the LCP and bastardized it. It was top heavy, you could see through the gap between the frame and slide, and although the LCP works fine without a safety, some genius decided the 9MM versoin just had to have one. On the plus side, if there was one, it was cheap, and the sights were easier to see than the LCP's miniscule front sight and groove in the slide.
  7. My mistake, sorry.
  8. No, that's way too high! Why don't you PM me this guy's name and address, and I'll go straighten him out for you. $650 for most anything with a picture of a horsie on it is a fair price nowadays.
  9. I think my RIA Commander has standard dovetail slots. Doesn't the Officer's Model?
  10. The lady in the ebay video will soon have a silicone leak if she practices long enough.
  11. Me thinks this thread will get a very large number of visits.
  12. Am I the only one who thinks scotch tastes exactly like diesel fuel?
  13. Welcome to Tennessee and TGO. Thank you for your service to our country. I'm sorry to hear of your not so pleasant introduction to our state. If I found a person in my home or business uninvited, I consider them to be a threat. A corpse is a lousy witness in court. I'm glad to see you didn't form your opinion of the entire state upon this one incident.
  14. Sorry, I was referring to the banner ads. I agree that I've never seen a pop up ad here either. Sorry for the confusion.
  15. Do you receive extra advertising dollars when a forum member clicks on a pop up ad here, or does it go simply from traffic in the forum. I ask because I'll make an effort to click often of it helps.
  16. Parabellum over at the Sig forum is a good guy. He used to own the smith-wesson forum. If I were a Sig fan, I'd hang out there. Good info, thanks for sharing.
  17. If you buy a quality holster, molded to the gun you are buying it for, a thumb break is no more than decoration, and possibly a hinderance.

    Ruger LC9

I'm thinking about picking one up......you know, for evaluation, holster molding, and other scientific endeavours. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here has one, or has shot one. If so, I'd love to hear your opinion before I drop the coin. Thanks, Greg.
  19. That;s what I carry.
  20. I'd just make one. He'll need to silver solder it in place. Any competent gunsmith can do that for you if you don't have the tools. If you do, make it taller than you think you'll need, and shoot, file, shoot , file, etc. until you get it the right hieght.
  21. So far, 2.5 grains of Bullseye seem to do well. I'll load some more and actually try them out on "big game" tomorrow.
  22. Tennessee isn't a very large state, and I live somewhere in the middle of it. However, it seems that anything for sale there that I'd be interested in is always in a different time zone/climate. I figure it works that way for all of us. Maybe I just don't want it badly enough. A person might even be able to make a living as a courier, making daily or weekly runs across the state.
  23. I make holsters, and I'd suggest you do as little as possible to a leather holster, other than use it as it was designed. If you get something on it, simply wipe it off. If you want to shine it up, use shoe polish and a shoe brush. Whoever made it likely already added wll the oils, sealers, etc. it will need for the life of the holster. If used regularly, a leather holster will not last forever, but a good one will last many years.
  24. That sounds like a very sound idea.
