  1. Love it!!!
  2. I don't care for ARs, but my father ha a Colt HBAR Match, and he mounted a 2x7 Leupold Rifleman on it with good results.
  3. It isn't uncommon to come home and find a neighbor perched on my shooting bench.
  4. Whatever you get, please don't waste your money on a great big cheap scope and see thru rings!!
  5. We're planning to build a wall at the Sumner/Macon line if it looks like anything bad is going to happen.
  6. Welcome to the forum, Glock25. To answer your question, we try to be prepared for life in general, by living within our means, having an emergency fund, having a good supply of food, household supplies, fuel, etc. Not sure if you are a believer, but you'll find a lot of this advice in the Bible. It works pretty good even if there isn't a disaster. If you do any camping, you'll likely have a leg up on many items you'd find handy in a bad situation.
  7. Think Chevrolet versus GMC truck. Same thing made on the same assembly line, just different trim. Yes, they are quality guns.
  8. I once took the door panel off a 67 Chevy II Nova I had and found a chicken feather and an old beer bottle cap. Does that count?
  9. I don't have much faith in that scope mount setup. You could custom order those back in the day for pretty much whatever barrel length you wanted.
  10. What??!!? No jerky? The last show in Gallatin I attended, I saw a guy there selling gutters. I feel the promoters should draw a line somewhere.
  11. Paypal is antigun, but aside from that, they've been very good to me.
  12. Have you considered handloading and loading lighter loads for yourself? I'm afraid you won't find as much difference as you think between the 243 and 270 as far as recoil goes. I load some light rifle loads for my children. They still kill deer readily, but don't cause the boys to flinch. I don't load what I shoot especially hot either.
  13. Both have serviceable sights. The newer Winchesters are angle eject, so you can mount a scope on them. The older ones were top eject, and werent really designed for a scope. You will see some with hideous side mount scopes. Pretty much all the Marlins I'm aware of are side eject and are drilled and tapped for a scope. Putting a scope on one of these, however, is to me like putting cattle racks on a Ferrari.
  14. I think those guys live there! Pretty much the same guys standing in the way telling the same lies everytime I've ever been in there. Just ask them politely to move over.
  15. I was on the beach in Gulf Shores Alabama with my family. We knew nothing of it until we returned to our condo for my son to take a nap. He turned on the Cartoon Network, and I knew something was wrong when I saw Dan Rather on that channel. It was an eerie feeling to be hundreds of miles from home while our country was under attack. We really stuck with me was when they flew fighter jets up the beach in formation the next day; right overhead. I assume these jets came from the Naval Air Base in Pensicola. It sent chills up my spine. We were in a restuarant/bar the evening it happened, and I still remember everyone cheering at the president's speech. Strangers were actually talking to one another and even hugging one another. It felt as if everyone was your friend or brother. I wish that part would have lingered.
  16. $900 will get you a Rock Island Armory, as well as enough ammo to become very proficient with it. I love mine.
  17. Teachers are empolyed to educate our children. It seems to me that this is all too often forgotten. They are too busy promoting fundraisers, sleeping with other teachers, and prying into everyones' business to perform this task. Teaching doesn't look to me like a pleasant job. I do not wish to teach, but I would like to see people who do choose to teach make an effort towards teaching. How in the world is this line of questioning educating children? I believe I'd demand to find out where this originated. With the teacher? The principal? School Board?
  18. Kind of how I feel as well. I would normally be very hard on my children for disrespecting a teacher, or anyone for that matter, but assuming this exchange happened as you describe, I think your son handled it admirably. I expect a certain amount of respect shown to myself and my children as well.
  19. Behind my house.
  20. Looks lika a pretty reasonable price to me!
  21. About right if in very good condition. I'd offer $200 cash and see where that leads. It's basically the same gun as a 336 Marlin, just a cheaper version.
  22. $300 is a fair price for a nice Marlin 336; not a steal, but a fair price. Personally, I wouldn't pay a remium for a commemorative model, but I a lot of them look gaudy. I've also found that they don't appreciate in value like a good quality run of the mill gun does.
  23. Look for a pre 1964 Winchester 94. You'll not be sorry. The kids and drug mine out and shot it yesterday. It is truly a quality firearm.
  24. Do yourself a favor and take a road trip to here: Gamaliel Shooting Supply - Rifle Scopes, Reloading Supplies, Gun Accessories, Guns
  25. I don't have a clue what these consist of. Would they be adaptable to a mini 14, M1 Garand, SKS, or other two stage military triggers?
