  1. Teachers are empolyed to educate our children. It seems to me that this is all too often forgotten. They are too busy promoting fundraisers, sleeping with other teachers, and prying into everyones' business to perform this task. Teaching doesn't look to me like a pleasant job. I do not wish to teach, but I would like to see people who do choose to teach make an effort towards teaching. How in the world is this line of questioning educating children? I believe I'd demand to find out where this originated. With the teacher? The principal? School Board?
  2. Kind of how I feel as well. I would normally be very hard on my children for disrespecting a teacher, or anyone for that matter, but assuming this exchange happened as you describe, I think your son handled it admirably. I expect a certain amount of respect shown to myself and my children as well.
  3. Behind my house.
  4. Looks lika a pretty reasonable price to me!
  5. About right if in very good condition. I'd offer $200 cash and see where that leads. It's basically the same gun as a 336 Marlin, just a cheaper version.
  6. $300 is a fair price for a nice Marlin 336; not a steal, but a fair price. Personally, I wouldn't pay a remium for a commemorative model, but I a lot of them look gaudy. I've also found that they don't appreciate in value like a good quality run of the mill gun does.
  7. Look for a pre 1964 Winchester 94. You'll not be sorry. The kids and drug mine out and shot it yesterday. It is truly a quality firearm.
  8. Do yourself a favor and take a road trip to here: Gamaliel Shooting Supply - Rifle Scopes, Reloading Supplies, Gun Accessories, Guns
  9. I don't have a clue what these consist of. Would they be adaptable to a mini 14, M1 Garand, SKS, or other two stage military triggers?
  10. I think you misunderstood, or perhaps I did. I think he meant that is is bad policy for the government to reward the generation of more children by people unwilling or unable to care for them. Welfare does just that. The more you breed, the larger your check. I personally do not believe that 1 in 10 children in Williamson county are going hungry. Another stat the threw out was that 1 in 2 children in Perry county are going hungry. If this is the case, I'd be for bringing back the Ku Klux Klan, and paying the parents' of these children visits.
  11. I've heard to look for canted sights and loose magazines. Anything else in particular? Is there another variety I should consider?
  12. Home I can recommend this gentleman with confidence.
  13. My kids are on me saying they want to shoot an AK 47. I have a Norinco SKS, but it just isn't the same so they say. Any advice on selecting one? I see the WASRs are the inexpensive and readily available thing at the moment. I like my SKS, but the Norinco AKs I've seen are outrageous in price!!! I don't want one that tries to look like a sporting rifle, pistol, or a tacticool version. I'm simply looking for a shooter with the classic AK look.
  14. Most anything from a 243 Winchester to a 30-30 Winchester to a 338 Win Mag would fill this bill adequately. If you don't handload, I'd say a 270 or 30-06, because of the wide range of available ammo. If you handload, there are many, many options. It is my opinion that the differences between the different high power rifle chamberings are much much smaller than gun store B.S.ers and gun magazine writers would lead you to believe. For specialized applications, I believe that bullet selection is a lot more important that chambering selection. The 243 and 25-06 are both fine choices.
  15. I'd suggest you peruse the local pawn shops and gun store shelves for a used Model 10 Smith and Wesson 38 Special revolver. It would be a very high quality handgun that would fit your budget. It would be easy to shoot well, and work as a self defense gun as well as for target shooting. The 38 Special round is widely available, and is among the cheapest of the centerfire handgun cartridges. Best of all, as long as you take care of it, it'll appreciate in value.
  16. Looks like I'm a Ron Paul man at 73%.
  17. Neither. I despise them both with equal fervor.
  18. No, it's just a hobby. I'd recommend a Beltman belt before I'd hand sew another one at a comparable price. Thanks for the compliment.
  19. I understand that myself.
  20. Wow! I guess I am blessed with a very understanding wife.
  21. May God rest his soul and comfort his family. I was blessed to get to meet him, and he seemed to be a fine man.
  22. I'd honestly prefer the car did not have airbags. That goes for gun forums as well.
  23. jmac, Do you, or do you not know how to deactivate this feature? Also, I'll ask you once more to cite the law I'm breaking in deactivating this feature.
  24. It seems I have a gift for insulting people, so I don't feel comfortable placing a value on other peoples' stuff.
  25. I figure I can take your cash and go get what I want. I don't understand why others don't think this way. It seems like most anything I see I'm interested in doesn't have a cash price lately.
