  1. I see. I didn't notice that, but will look for it the next time I shoot it.However, I alos have a CZ 52, and I haven't noticed it with that gun either. Maybe I'm not very observant. I have noticed on the CZ that the tirgger and the decocker perform the same function....they both fire a live round!!
  2. Assuming there's nothing mechanically wrong with it, you'll be amazed how accurate that revolver is.
  3. Rennisance wax is what a lot of museums, as well as gun collectors use. It's pretty expensive, but a lot of guys swear by it.
  4. What is "trigger slap"? This one has a military trigger which has some takeup, and really isn't that great, but I don't believe I've ever heard that term before.
  5. From what I've seen, that would be a very high dollar "shooter"!!!
  6. You'd have stolen them at $300 each!!!
  7. Are they hot?
  8. Both my boys have Criketts. I enjoy shooting them as much as they do. For the money, they are great rifles. I'd suggest you get him a lifetime hunting license to go with it. They are very inexpensive if you get em while he's young.
  9. A guy at work knew we were looking for a puppy, and he had a friend who needed to find a good home for this little guy. He's fit right in, and like most labs, he's more like a human than a dog.
  10. You Glock guys probably won't care for my new toy, but some others may. I've wanted a shooter Luger for quite some time, and Friday my local gun pusher had this laid on the counter. The numbers don't match, but it shoots great, and isn't in too bad a shape for a 71 year old gun that went through a world war. I believe it was manufactured by Mauser in 1940. That toggle action is certainly a Rube Goldberg affair, but it works like a swiss watch. I wonder if Bill Ruger didn't have this gun in mind when he designed his famous 22 auto pistol.
  11. I've been known to bring home a lever or two.
  12. If you are making long trips, or driving interstate speeds, I agree that you need to upgrade to larger wheels and tires.
  13. Let us see some pictures.
  14. $550 will get you a new LCP and plenty of ammo to get good shooting it. I'm very pleased with mine. You might look around and see if you can find someone that will let you shoot a gun like you plan to buy.
  15. SAVAGE.
  16. Good looking piece in a fine caliber. I like the factory grips, but faux ivory would look great on it as well. I agree that you really need to handload if you intend to shoot it much.
  17. We buy a lot of stuff at Academy. Baseball supplies, camping gear, clothes, shoes, fishing supplies, shooting supplies, etc. I think all of you in Knoxville will be very happy when it opens....happy and broke.

They definitely don't have the fit and finish of a Colt, but is there something mechanically wrong with it? The one I had was accurate and had a silky smooth action.
  20. You make a very good point about the LeverEvolution bullets. As far as the "why not" factor, what are you getting from the extra expense?
  21. Ummm, Yeah?!?!? To last forever is a lot to ask of anything man made.
  22. I know a lot of guys who pony up the money for premium rifle bullets for their deer rifles. Personally, I've never had any trouble recovering deer shooting the old cup and core bullets like Remington Core Lokt, Seirra Game King, etc. I also get really good accuracy form these plain jane vanilla bullets at a fraction of the cost of some of the latest and greatest products. I can see using premiums for larger game, but honestly, a deer isn't that hard to bring down. Do you spend the extra for designer bullets, or are you like me and say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
  23. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/ammunition-reloading/56291-carpenter-bee-loads.html Thanks, but it's probably not what you think. The link above will explain.
  24. Winchester was bought out by USRAC in 1964. It was then run by bean counters instead of gun guys. They did manage to keep the company afloat, partially by redesigning the line for cheaper manufacturing. For the 94, the change came somewhere around serial number 2,700,000. An easy way to tell at a glance if a 94 is a pre 64 is to turn it upside down and look at the front of the lever. If you see a screw there, it was made before the change. If you have the serial number handy, a quick google search will give you the year of production.
