  1. After reading much malignment of the Century Arms WASR 10-63, and being hardheaded as I am, I purchased one from a fellow member here. After properly installing the trigger so that it would stay in place, I'd have to say the WASR is about as much fun as you can have with your pants on. It is quite accurate, the Tapco trigger isn't too heavy, and it goes bang every time you pull the trigger. The sights are in alignment, and magazines are pretty snug when locked into place. It also looks more like what I picture an AK to be than many versions currently available today. Maybe I just lucked out and got a good one.
  2. Unlike most of the people who have "cleaning accidents", I prefer to unload before cleaning. Short of that, I have very little use for an unloaded gun.

  4. Wow! May God bless you and your family in this time of loss.
  5. Mr. Fjestad seems to favor some brands over others. That being said, I don't know of a better pricing reference.
  6. Man, you inhierited two fine firearms! They've been well cared for, and represent some of the finest American craftsmanship ever. The 38 is a M&P Model 1905 Fourth Change. If you shoot either of them, you will be pleasantly surprised. I would strongly advise you to keep all the boxes, paperwork, etc. that came with the guns and the holster paperwork. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Aha!!! Boy, sometimes I sure feel dumb.
  8. I use the Lee trimmer that has the shllholder you chuck in a drill.
  9. A GSG 22 1911 to be exact. I somehow managed to break the factory safety......and the replacement the factory sent me as well. Anyway, ashamed to call customer service again, I ordered a Colt safety from Midway. I'd work on it a while, get frustrated, put it up, rinse, and repeat. Tonight, I finally got the safety correctly fitted, and reasssembled everything. The grip safety was wanting to hang on something. Rats!!!! Frustrated again, I decided to put it up, and when I put the magazine in the gun, everything magically began to work correctly. I do not pretend to understand what happened, but I now have the confidence to tackle installing an ambi safety in my RIA 1911A1 Commander......Baby steps.
  10. It sucked just like the other Lebanon shows.
  11. He shoots a Mexican mauser sporter in 257 Roberts that was built by his grandfather. He's loaded his own ammo for every deer he's killed.
  12. Does anyone sell a Siaga conversion kit with wood furniture?
  13. That's quite a trophy! Thanks for sharing.
  14. Turns out I've been more of a guide/butcher this year rather than deer hunter. I wouldn't change a thing. He's 13, and he's really taken to deer hunting this year. So far, he's bagged a 4 point buck on the juvenile hunt, a doe with a muzzleloader, and a button buck with his rifle this morning. I haven't shot a thing. Here's him with the 4 pointer. His little brother thinks he'll give it a try next year. This is what life is all about!
  15. The model 70 is perfect just as it comes. What on earth are you wanting to do to it?
  16. You can get them new from Brownell's. I believe they are the same as the 100 Winchester mags. They should work fine, but they are pricey. I'd go back and look some more.
  17. The Rossi is a copy of the Winchester. I cannot speak to the quality of the Rossi, but you have one fine 22 in the Winchester!!!
  18. Finally.....someone with a realistic view. I think most people have watched way too many movies.
  19. If it'll safely go bang, it's worth $100 in my opinion. That goes for most any gun. I wouldn't pay a premium for the serial number.
  20. Your letter would likely state that it was part of a shipment to th U.S. Ordinance Department, as it is a military version. Although the revolver has seen service, it appears to be in pretty fair shape for a 90 plus year old gun. I personally wouldn't spend the money for a letter, as it wouldn't prove any provenance with the gun. It is a fine collector, shooter, conversation piece, and a part of American history. Nice score!!! It is definitely worth holding on to, or it would bring some pretty serious coin if you decided to sell it. It does not appear to have been refinished. Grab some moon clips, 45 ammo, and give it a go. I believe you'll be surprised.
  21. I have a Smith and Wesson 1917, but no matching Colt as of yet. These revolvers were made for the military as a stopgap measure because the military was unable to procure 1911s as fast as they needed them. I believe Colt will provide a letter on handguns for a fee. There were commercial models available as well. In case you aren't aware, your Colt is chambered for the 45 ACP, and can be fired with 45acp in half moon or full moon clips. There is also 45 Autorim ammo available. Assuming your revolver is in original condition, it is a somewhat valuable collector's piece, as well as a great shooter. Does it have smooth grips or checkered? A dull finish or high gloss blueing? Does it have a lanyard ring on the butt? Post some pics please.

They are a delicacy around my house.
  23. It is a shame the OP never got to experience "Hunt's Sporting Goods" in Hendersonville. They didn't discriminate; they were a>>holes to everyone. As far as I know, they are no longer in business either.
  24. What are you looking for? Perhaps I could accomodate you.
