  1. 2 Triple Seven 50 grain pellets behind a 295 grain Powerbelt works well in my elcheapo frontstuffer. It's accurate, lethal, easy to load, and very easy to clean.
  2. Looks great! Especially for your first one.
  3. There were 80 Kazillion Mauser rifles produced. They arent exactly rare artifacts. If some of them hadn't been used, sporterized, dropped in a lake, etc., the remaining unaltered versions would be worth next to nothing. For some people, a military rifle is next to useless, while a sporterized version is a useable hunting tool. As the value of the rifles go up, using the action to construct a custom gun becomes less attractive.

    6.8spc or 243?

I'm not a tactical kind of guy, so I'd likely stick with the 243.
  5. I wasn't a leader, but I got elected to head up the whittling chit thing when my oldest was in cub scouts. I first had a discussion with the parents. I then bought some inexpensive knives like you'd asked about. I also bought a box of band aids. They came in handy. All the kids were thrilled with the knives, and aside from one cut finger, it all went very well.
  6. Either caliber would be fine for any large game in Tennessee. There are, however, far better hunting rifles available for either one. The Mauser is a great action from which to build a hunting rifle. Before: After: I've seen a few sporterized Mosins, but none I thought were that great.
  7. 8mm is $20-$40 and up per box...WHEN you can find it, whiler 7.62x54R is more like $10-$20 per box, with milsurp being cheaper, and pretty much everyone has it in stock. The 8mm milsurp has pretty much dried up. Don't discount a 7x57 if you are looking for a Mauser. It is a fine round as well. Also, there are 6.55 Swedes, 7.65s, 308, and several other chamberings you can find with a mauser action.
  8. The 8mm is the better rifle platform, but the 7.62x54R is the more obtainable, affordable ammunition. I'd think performance is close between the two.

    9mm revolver

http://www.ruger.com/products/sp101/models.html It doesn't look to be a rumor any longer!
  10. Works for me.
  11. 742 or 7400 Remington.

    9mm revolver

    I didn't either. That's ultra cool!!!
  13. So, is Brian Robbins Mr. Gresham's promoter or just a big fan? I knew he had the radio show and writes some articles, but I wasn't aware of the television show.
  14. I have the lightweight version, the Cobra. It is an awesome revolver. I can't imagine what someone wouldn't like about them.
  15. I would expect they save the enforcement of this law for repeat criminals whom they can't adequately punish just for being a nuissance. Do you know if this law has ever been enforced as a standalone offense? There is a law in my town that you aren't allowed to traverse around the town square in a motor vehicle after dark with being escorted by a horse rider carrying a lantern. It isn't widely enforced.
  16. That;s a desireable handgun. I'd be surprised if you have any trouble getting rid of it. 6 shots versus the Smith J frame's 5 makes it a great carry gun. Anything with a picture of a pony on it commands several dollars.
  17. We expect a full range report!
  18. We'll trade Larry Smith for him!
  19. Obama, Blagojevich, Rostenkowski, Daley, Emanuel.......Shall I keep going?
  20. Unless you enjoy stirring up feces, "No Sir" would be the correct answer.
  21. Has he experienced a problem with open carry? Would this include LEOs as well as everyone else? If not, why not?
  22. South Carolina gave them all the help they could. If you only get three points out of four interceptions, you ain't gonna fare well.
  23. Do these qualify?
  24. Very nice! It sucks to hide them in your pocket, huh? Are they lined?
  25. That's Grits' boy, right? He sure ain't his daddy!
